Anyone Up For a Little MAYcation?!! A May 2012 WDW PTR with a side of.....

Hi! Followed you over from the BC Board! Very interested in your PTR because our dates at the BC overlap... See you at the (hopefully open) pool!

Hey there  Welcome!!

I just put your number in my phone the other day so I can text you about the noodle hand off!! :cool1: I sure hope the pool is all fixed up by then! :wizard:

Happy Birthday to DS13!! Hope he enjoys his special day!

Legoland looks pretty cool. Madison LOVES Legos too, but I don't know how much she would like the park. If we ever decide to leave "The World", we'll probably head to Universal. She's a HUGE Harry Potter fan!! I was thinking about trying to sneak off property in Sept, but with the baby that will be a little tricky. Next time I guess!

Thanks Meghan! :goodvibes

We might have to head over to Universal next time! We'll see how LL goes first. :rotfl: It will sure be different venturing off WDW property.

I asked you about the late flight b/c I was hoping you had a late flight before. I was just wondering how MCO is at night. Even though it's disappointing:mad: coming in late maybe it'll be a faster and smoother exit??:confused3 Crossing my fingers!!!!

Anybody else ever fly in late????

Maybe it will be a little quicker at night!! I just hope they don't put too many resorts on the same bus, that's what takes forever.

When I talked to ME a few weeks ago they said that it could be up to midnight before our checked luggage arrives in our room.

Yay for 3 wks!!!!
We leave next Saturday!!!!! I can't wait:woohoo:

YAY for 1 WEEK!!!

We won't have to worry about ME this time- staying offsite and renting a car.
Hope ME goes smoothly for you.
Midnight!:scared1: I guess you'll be packing the kids pj's in your carry-on so they'll have them.

You should be able to zoom right out of there then!!!!

We are planning to head over to Epcot for EMH, so hopefully by the time we get back our luggage will be there. But you are right -- we better pack the pj's in the carry-ons! ::yes::

Will you have any internet access when you are there??? If you do maybe you could sneak on here real quick and let us know if TT is closed up or not....)

We've done the late flight thing before. It was okay, just kind of weird to come into Disney and just head to the hotel. If you're doing ME, definately grab your own luggage.

Thanks, that will be great!! :thumbsup2 I read something yesterday that said that WDW didn't want the BTMRR & TT refurbs overlapping for so long, so they are not closing TT until the middle of May......But then I read something else that said they are closing it April 15. :confused3 Still nothing on the WDW website....

Who wants to go to Celebration Florida?!! :cool1:

So since we will have the rental car all day and LegoLand is only open 10-5, we are planning on swinging by Celebration on the way back to WDW. I have always wanted to visit Celebration and my dream is to retire there someday!!:cloud9:

For those of you who don't know about Celebration here is some info –

From what I understand the town came to be in about the mid 1990's. It was so popular that they had to hold a lottery and if you were lucky enough to be drawn in the lottery then you were able to purchase a home there! Lots of good info/history here ~ http://www.cs.osceola.k12.fl.us/CelebrationHistory/settlers.htm

From Wikipedia ~

Celebration is a census-designated place (CDP) and a master-planned community in Osceola County, Florida, United States, located near Walt Disney World Resort and originally developed by The Walt Disney Company. As part of the Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area, Celebration's population was 7,427 at the 2010 census.[3]
Subsequent to founding Celebration, Disney followed its plans[4] to divest most of its control of the town. Several Disney business units continue to occupy the town's office buildings, and two utility companies, Smart City Telecom and Reedy Creek Energy Services, both operated from Walt Disney World, provide services to the town. The town itself remains directly connected to the Walt Disney World resorts via one of its primary streets, World Drive, which begins near the Magic Kingdom.
Downtown Celebration's post office was designed by Michael Graves, its town hall by Philip Johnson and its Celebration Health building by Robert A. M. Stern.[5] Response to Celebration has ranged from an early visitor who said it resembled the too-perfect town of The Stepford Wives,[5] to those who see Celebration as a return to small-town values with walkable and safe communities.[6]

In the early 1990s, the Disney Development Company (DDC) established the Celebration Company to spearhead its development within approximately 4,900 acres (20 km2) of land in the southern portion of the Reedy Creek Improvement District.[7] Total investment for the project is estimated at US$2.5 billion.[8]
The master plan was developed by Cooper, Robertson & Partners and Robert A. M. Stern, and the extensive landscape, parks, trails and pathways were designed by the San Francisco firm EDAW (now AECOM).[9] Celebration is planned in an early 20th-century architectural style and is not zoned for high-density residences. Celebration was named the "New Community of the Year" in 2001 by the Urban Land Institute.[10]
The first phase of residential development occurred in the summer of 1996 with Celebration Village, West Village and Lake Evalyn; this was followed by the North Village, South Village, East Village and Aquila Reserve and the final Artisan Park phases.[11] Disney CEO Michael Eisner took an especially keen interest in the development of the new town in the early days, encouraging the executives at Disney Development Company to "make history" and develop a town worthy of the Disney brand and legacy that extended to Walt Disney's vision of an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT). DDC executives collaborated extensively with leaders in education, health and technology in addition to planners and architects to create the vision and operating policies for the town

Live. Work. Play.
All in Celebration, Florida
Celebrating 15 Years of Community

We want to get to know you.
If you’ve visited Celebration, it’s likely that our residents have already helped you feel this way. Perhaps it was a simple smile someone shared as they passed by on the street. Maybe it was a friendly chat you had with a stranger while shopping.
There’s a reason Celebration is not a town, but a community in every positive sense of the word. While the population is diverse, the residents share a strong community spirit and a desire for a friendship with their neighbors.
Relationships develop in the many programs, activities and opportunities offered within the community. Residents get to know their neighbors while taking part in local school and sports programs; enjoying the walking trails, parks and amenities; enjoying our restaurants and shops; participating in organizations, civic and social groups; and playing an active role on the committees and Boards responsible for operating Celebration.
The community’s foundation is based on five cornerstones: Health, Education, Technology, Sense of Community and Sense of Place.
Residents love the small-town feel of the Memorial Day Flag Ceremony, July 4th parade and Veterans Day programs. The Family Camp Out, Movie Nights, Great Egg Hunt, Celebration Games, Fall Festival and Holiday Festival and Kids’ Shopping are a testimony to the importance of family here.
Celebration is a community where residents strongly believe in caring for their neighbors. This compassion even extends outside the geographical boundaries of the town. Residents have provided assistance to those affected by hurricanes and fires, donated uniforms and supplies to students in transition whose families have lost their homes, and even adopted an Army Reserve Unit, providing support for the families of service men and women.
We want to know you because we care. Be sure to visit the Celebration Welcome Center when you arrive, located at 690 Celebration Avenue in Town Center. Pick-up a detailed community map and spend some time learning about our past in the History Center. Also, be sure to enjoy the many choices of Celebration logo merchandise at this location. Celebration is both an exciting new community and one that is familiar because its sense of friendship is timeless. It’s a wonderful place to visit, and an even better place to call home.

Forget retirement, I want to live there now!!!!

It sounds awesome! I think you'll have a good time exploring around there. And that menu! Good grief! It would take me an hour to decide!

We went there back when the kids were younger..in fact,dd might have been about 3 or so,...but it was beautiful! We went when it was decorated for Christmas....You are gonna love it!! I would move there right now!!

Me!!! I want to go to Celebration!!! I want a full report after you get back! We are planning/hoping to go do the same exact thing (not the legoland part) when we go in October. I think it will be the morning of the day we do the MNSSHP.

And Rinky's right. Retirement is way too far off!

Well, I did mean DH's retirement and he is several years older than me!! :rotfl: Still, too far away. I'm actually thinking semi-retirement. DH can still be working some and I will get a part time job at WDW of course!:thumbsup2

Didn't you say you used to be a hair dresser? I think you need to work at the BBB! :thumbsup2 Since I was a teacher, I need to do something educational like run one of the films in WS! Ok, I've got it all figured out. Tell your DH he needs to get his ducks in a row 'cause we're ready to retire in Florida.

Happy birthday to your DS. DH's DD just turned 13 as well.

It was nice reading about Legoland and learning something new.

Celebration does look like a wonderful place to live. I with everyone else retirement is way to far away!!
I saw a documentary on Celebration a few years ago, but I can't remember what channel it was on.
I think i want to visit just to go to that restaurant. I  seafood!! Ipswich clams- YUM!! Ipswich is a town down the Cape (Cape Cod).

I remember when Celebration was first being built and I begged DH to move there, of course then not long after the housing prices jumped and Celebration became just a dream. I can not wait to read about when you visit there. I have tried to get DH to go there but he just will not give in :sad2:

Yep, I sure did! That is one job I could do there for sure! There are just so many different things to do there that I don't know which one I would want to do most. :goodvibes

Okay, I'll tell DH to get his ducks in a row!!! :rotfl::thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks Mel! Hope the teen years go well for you guys!!

Glad you enjoyed reading about LegoLand! :)

Celebration sure does look & sound wonderful. I can't wait to see what it is like in person. :lovestruc But yes, retirement is too far away.

I hope the restaurant is good! I'm sure we will all be able to find something we will like. ::yes::

Getting in there when it was first built would have been the way too go. The prices just go up and up now. I was looking at one realty site and it said that there is not a very big turnover of houses there now. No one wants to move out! Only 2-3% off all the houses in Celebration are for sale.

I wish you were going before us so I could see your full report on Celebration but by the looks of it I just might have to add it anyway!:thumbsup2 I think DH would really enjoy doing some photography there - it looks so beautiful and wonderfully kept up and taken care of!
and that menu!! WOW!!! Is there anything they do NOT serve???

Hope you don't mind if we steal your idea to visit Celebration and enjoy the restaraunt while there. Sounds like such a nice relaxing time. I just may surprise DH and not even tell him about it - just put a big ol question mark on the calendar. haha.

How long does it take to drive there from WDW?

I'm off to check out some of those links now.
