Anyone Up For a Little MAYcation?!! A May 2012 WDW PTR with a side of.....

I wish you were going before us so I could see your full report on Celebration but by the looks of it I just might have to add it anyway!:thumbsup2 I think DH would really enjoy doing some photography there - it looks so beautiful and wonderfully kept up and taken care of!
and that menu!! WOW!!! Is there anything they do NOT serve???

Hope you don't mind if we steal your idea to visit Celebration and enjoy the restaraunt while there. Sounds like such a nice relaxing time. I just may surprise DH and not even tell him about it - just put a big ol question mark on the calendar. haha.

How long does it take to drive there from WDW?

I'm off to check out some of those links now.

Steal away!!! :cool1: That would be an awesome surprise for your DH. ::yes:: I am the photographer in the family here and I am really looking forward to getting some great pictures there. :goodvibes

I believe it is about 6 miles from WDW. So not far at all!!!!

Hope you had a great Easter, Shelly! I am slowly recovering from having 30 people over for the holiday!:rotfl:
Celebration looks so neat! We never usually rent a car, but Celebration would be something different to do when in Florida. We may have to check it out!:thumbsup2

Okay so not toooooo bad--- I thought I would have twenty pages to catch up on!!

I can't wait to hear all about Celebration. I can't believe in all the times we've been to FL we've never even driven over there!

I'm pretty sure I spotted my retirement home in one of those pics you posted. :rotfl:

I think that day is going to be your favorite day of the trip.:cloud9: You are going to be wanting a car every trip now so you can go to Celebration to plan retirement.:lmao:

And the menu for the Tavern.... holy cow! Such a great list! how will you ever choose??????

Hey there!! Long weekend? :faint: :rotfl:

Nope, no 20 pages to catch up on, actually it's been pretty slow around here this weekend!

I can't believe you have never driven over to Celebration either, especially when you have a rental every time!!! :upsidedow Guess you know what you need to add on to your next trip! ::yes::

I will be sure to pick us out a couple of houses (right next to each other of course) when we are there!! :thumbsup2

IDK how we will ever choose what to eat at Celebration Town Tavern. :confused3 I just know I will be eating light that day at LL and saving lots of room for dinner! :cool1:

Um, yep! Looooong weekend! ;) Nah- it was very good. And calorie intensive.

I know, right? How the heck have we never gone to Celebration before when we have a car every time?? I am going to insist next time! Maybe in December...... ::yes::

As far as the houses you're choosing for us- (but of course they are next to each other, duh!! ;) ) make sure mine has a front porch 'K?? :)
Let me know who I need to make the check out to for the down payment. :rotfl:

You better go to Celebration in December. You will want to see the house I picked out for you in person after-all. ::yes::

I think most, if not all, Celebration homes have a front porch to encourage neighborly interaction. :goodvibes

It's snowing here!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Yep, seriously. :sad2: I really can't complain after the extremely mild winter we have had, but I will anyway.

It's not going to stick or anything, it's just a light wet snow. But it's still ugly!

Can't wait for FLORIDA!!! :cool1:

:scared1: Yuck! I bet you can't wait to go!!! It got cold here again too. Actually it's probably normal seasonal weather for here in April, but after all those 70s and 80s we got sort of spoiled!!

You are kidding. I have got to move away from here!! It's in the 80s all week and as it progresses, the humidity is increasing as well...which we all know what that means: hair that is even more lifeless(unless your a curly, then it's frizzy),oilier skin, more face issues to deal with...and less energy in general. It's not too bad yet, but it is starting to heat up--not looking forward to the days of opening the back door and feeling like I have stuck my head in an oven:sad2: It really is  when it's that hot....which is why ya'll will never see me planning a Disney trip from June -mid October!! I just cant take it!!!
Well, for Celebration, we just got a taxi-I know you are getting a car for the LL part anyway, but we just zipped right over!! It was so cool--they had a little parade/street party for the kids & did the snow on Main street and some kind of bubble thing for them (soap I think)..I would so love to move over there!!! The houses are fantastic!!!!
I love Texas and am proud as punch to be a native!! But DANG!!!! I hate our weather!!!!!! At least where we are!!! So,...I am coveting y'alls milder temps today!!!!!

I know, this is pretty hard to take after temps in the 70's in Jan & Feb and in the 80's in March. And of course the cold temps and rain/snow have come just in time for spring soccer to start this Thursday!! :scared1:

Wish I was kidding. Luckily it is supposed to be sunny and 60 again by Friday. :goodvibes

Guess the old saying is true -- you always want what you can't have, because I would LOVE to be having your 80 temps!!

I bet Celebration is absolutely wonderful in December. :santa:

Snow!!!! Are you kidding??? Seriously this weather is just awful doesn't know whether it's coming or going!
Well Shelly I just have to report that I got a job yesterday
It's only a long term sub position but at least it's something for now. I can't remember if I told you but I've been laid off for almost 2 years :scared1:
I am so excited!! The principal called me yesterday to ask if I was interested? The funny thing was I had an interview the same day!!! for another long term job. Things happen in funny ways.
So I started today. The only negative is I was going to do all my packing this week, get my hair done, and go for a pedi. Had to do some rescheduling

Deb :)

We've been to Big River Grille about 3 times before. I love the fact that you don't have to have an ADR there and we've never had a wait to be seated. It's a pretty neat place and we have always had good food and service here. I usually get the beef nachos for my dinner. It's really good. Not sure if I'll get that again or go for something different!

We may end up with another TS restaurant in Epcot, we'll see what we feel like and what is available when we get there.....

And of course we are eating at Celebration Town Tavern!

Morning Shelly, I can't believe that ya'll are getting snow and it was 86 here yesterday. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but here's an article I just read about the Test Track closure. It was posted by Touring Plans who I consider a pretty liable source:

Advisory: Test Track Closed for Renovation April 16 to September 2012

Despite the fact that the same dates have been posted on the TouringPlans.com refurbishment page since Disney first announced that Test Track would be overhauled back in January, we felt it pertinent to remind everyone that the ride will be closing on April 16 and remain closed until at least mid-September of this year.

Disney had been avoiding the issue by not acknowledging the closure on its official website calendar. Even internal Disney calendars didn’t list the closure as existing – this caused a lot of unnecessary confusion. There are a lot of people who are going to be in Epcot come April 16 who don’t think Test Track is going to be closed. Get the word out, tell random strangers.

The closure is really “confirmed” now because operational schedules covering April 16 were posted for the cast working at Epcot today. They were informed that the Test Track attraction building would be off-limits as it would be under Imagineering’s jurisdiction for the redevelopment. Additionally, Guest Relations staff are scheduled to be stationed out front to answer questions that park guests may have about the closure.

As far as a plan of attack for touring the park itself: when the crowd splits in the morning to go between Soarin’ and the not-open Test Track, obviously you need to go to Soarin’. After that, if you want to do Mission: SPACE, make a bee-line for that attraction. Be advised that Epcot operations is keenly aware that losing Test Track for an extended period puts them in a unique predicament – it was their first FASTPASS attraction and primary way for them to control crowd patterns. The park has been coming up with possible solutions and “tests” to run during this period, so keep an eye on this blog for updates in the coming months. We’ll post updates as more information becomes available.

86?!! Wow, that's awesome!! :cool1: We had our 80's in the middle of March and now we are paying for it I guess. :rotfl:

Well that certainly stinks about Test Track! :headache: Can you believe that WDW still does not have it listed on their website? What are they waiting for???

I was really hoping that what I read here last week would be true:
http://www.screamscape.com/html/wdw_-_epcot.htm#TestTrack

It would really make more sense for them to what until BTMRR was open before shutting down another major attraction. Unless of course TT needed it right away for safety reasons, which from my understanding it does not.

I guess we will find out next week, we should be able to hear from someone on the DIS who is actually there and can see it with their own eyes. I think it is going to be very bad and the lines for Soarin are going to be awful. :sad2:

I am loving the 80 degree weather right now but I'm thinking that means that our Summer temps are going to be 100 or more. :scared1:

I was holding out hope that the Test Track refurb was going to be happening later rather than mid-April. There's a lady over on the Theme Park board who has a daughter who is a CM at Epcot. She said that her daughter has been told in at least 7 meetings that Test Track will close on April 16th and that the Test Track CMs are being retrained to help operate other attractions or work in other parts of Epcot. So, it sounds like it's really gonna happen and we'll both miss out on it this trip.

Sorry about the snow :( I know how you feel though - while greatful for the nice mild winter we had they still seem to drag on so i was enjoying going outside for my jogs and sitting out and soaking up some sun (even if it WAS just inside my garage door to protect me from the chilly wind). We got snow last week (it may have come Friday and Saturday) and it's not all gone yet :sad1: So I havn't enjoyed the outdoors since last Wed or Thurs. I think it flew in from Calgary who had gotten it a few days before us and continued it's way across the country - maybe a bit down to the US too :sad2: Where are you?? Maybe it headed your way after us.

The Ressies all look good - and OH SO YUMMY!!!!! We only have a sprinkling of them b/c we just don't do well with restaraunt eating all the time. It just gets me feeling icky - which is why we rent a condo and do our own cooking. Much safer on the belly for me. I sure WISH I could enjoy them more though!!!

We are doing a Kona Cafe breakfast too :thumbsup2 I'm looking forward to Tonga Toast and DD is looking forward to those macadamia pineapple pancakes.

Gosh, I hope you cut and pasted all those menus!!
Those ADRs all look good to me!
We ate at Tony's not that long ago and thought it was pretty good. Nothing amazing, but certainly not as bad as some of the reviews had been in the past.

I'd love to try Yachtsman's! I get to make my ADRs in a couple days and have to get out my schedule and all that! Kona breakfast is also on my short list! How will I decide between the Tonga Toast and Macadamia pancakes???

Bummer about TT. We finally got Paige on it and she loved it. Now they're going to change it!! I'm sad about that. I don't generally like simulator type rides, so if that's what it is, there's one less thing to do in Future World for me. But, if it's open when we go in October, I'll still check it out.

You might be in for a HOT summer. :scared1: I'm not sure what we are in for after such a mild winter. :confused3

Well I am just going to stay in denial about the Test Track thing!

I know, it was nice to actually spend some time outside this winter!! We are just north of Pittsburgh.

We don't like to have a ton of ADR's either. Some days we don't have any! It's hard to say what (or how much) you are going to feel like eating on a certain day. Sometimes we end up cancelling and sometimes we end up adding one on.

Kona is the best!! :goodvibes

Yes, I did copy & paste the menus!! :rotfl:

I need to look over Tony's menu again and make sure there is something there for all of us. If we go, I hope we enjoy it! :wizard:

I'm excited to try Yachtsman's!

Well at Kona you can order the Tonga Toast and have your DH order the macadamia pancakes and then you make him share!! ::yes:: :lovestruc

Are they making TT a simulator??? :scared1: I hadn't heard that. I hope that's not the case. :sad2:
