Anyone Planning to do Nothing (park related) on their DVC next trip?

After having to dart back and forth between so many boards, I just wanted to check in and let my closet comrades know that I have nothing planned at the momemt, but plan on planning something (or nothing) later. :teeth:

If you're planning a trip of total nothingness at the BW, a great place to hit is that building with the free DVD rentals (I can't remember the name.)

I'll be doing Commando Nothing (park related) at BWV.

Nothing (park related) Day Touring Plan:
DH- at golf course
DS & DIL- at parks
Me- checking hourly that ice cubes are frozen
a) if not frozen, wait
b) if frozen, put in glass and fill with appropriate
libation
c) repeat b as needed

I had high hopes for doing nothing, but it's not looking good so far. I guess early December is not the best time.

I'd looked forward to just spending some time in OKW itself, but that's looking grim. So far, we have Cindy's (thanks CarolMN!), MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, the lights at MGM, plus all the regular stuff.

Now that we have Cindy's and MVMCP scheduled, I want to start working on PS's, but with the new 90-10 thing, they may be more difficult. I'd love to take a CROCKPOT and just do nothing one night, but we'll have to see.

We also have Grandma and her sister going with us. They both lie about their ages, but they're up there, and you know how challenging things can be for older folks. Also GM will be in an ECV.

So I'm thinking more of a Super-Slo-Mo commando outing than nothing.

What I want to know is how you hit it out of the bunker without getting sand in your beer.
I chugged it, then took the shot. :drinking1

JimMIA, I'm just enjoying picturing you with all your relatives in Super Slow Mo, talking slowly, being slowly chased by an irate GM in an ECV yelling slowly that she's 37, darn it! while your family charges ahead (in slow mo) toward the castle. Actually, it would be a pretty funny thing to try, see what kind of looks you get.

Of course, I have no idea what you even look like, but I don't need reality when I'm in my own little brain, right?

I'm hoping I can keep some nothingness in our trip - I'm sure the baby needing naps will help - but there's so much to see and my kids can do so much more this year, I'm afraid I will have trouble avoiding my other personality, the commando.

Will sit on balcony of BWV (Standard - I'm cheap!) & admire the nothingness of the parking lot. Possibly contemplate the Zen of Disney, if nothing else comes up...

We do a week of commando park hopping and then a week of other side trips like going to the coast like Cocoa Beach and Meritt Island and down on the gulf coast. Our kids are big nature lovers so we take them to see the local animals etc.

I'm heartened to see we ABSOLUTELY on topic or at least concerned when we stray.

Non-DVCer's can't even imagine this level of nothingness.

When my DP and I travel to AKL next August, we will be celebrating 20 years of "wedded" bliss and so, of course, there is nothing new to do, but we'll do it anyway, because we are very practiced at it.

I have a hard time doing nothing. WE do come back to our room in the afternoon for a nap or dip in the pool. When I am on vacation I want to be doing something. But I do recall the last DVC visit I spent a couple of hours at the scary clown pool and it was very relaxing.

Okay, that totally cracked me up! Mostly because I find that clown very, very scary. And not relaxing at all. But if I'm not exactly looking at him, I can relax, and then relax some more, and then, WHAM!, there he is, and now welcome the nightmares. And I own there. Go figure.

When I was very little my dad took us to Coney Island Amusement park in Brooklyn and there was an area there called Steeplechase. The trademark of the place, and posted all throughout, was a scary looking clown very similar to the one at BWV. It freaked me out then, but I somehow outgrew my scarylookingclown phobia.

But for those who like to plan one of their days visiting a DVC resort and do nothing in the parks, the pools are an excellent choice IMO. My suggestion jnrrt--wear blinders at all times, do not face the direction of the clown, even if it means closing your eyes and being led away by a family member.

Tee hee! My husband's roommate from college joined the circus to pay off his student loans (no, I am not making that up). He was a trumpet player in the pit, and the brass guys had to sleep in a big semi that they shared with the clowns. He told me that everything you've ever heard about clowns is true. And since we met several of them backstage when we went to see the circus (they were in Brooklyn, hi New Yorkers) I'd have to agree.

Yes, I must say that while I am very happy owning at BWV and staying there, I think BCV has it hands down on the pool. But now I will have started a bad debate. Please keep in mind that I have previous mental scars from clowns. You cannot put much stock in my opinion of a clown pool.

Incidentally, on our upcoming 10-Day trip to The World, we have planned many days of doing nothing (park-related).

I will detail them when my current mood of doing-nothingness -- or is that nothing-doingness -- has passed.

;)

I'm sure BWV is grat, but I gotta tell ya, even the pictures of the scary clown have been enough so far to keep me from making any ressies there! :rotfl:

Thanks for sharing this. I am glad to see someone else who understands the importance of planning on doing nothing when going to their DVC resort. (I mean nothing Park related I of course)

Everyone talks about how scary the clown is, but the crashed ship at SAB isn't too friendly looking either. I think people should plan accordingly...or do nothing.

You all have excellent points. When you plan to go to your DVC home be sure to avoid things that scare you. Sometimes when I am planninig to go to my DVC home I do a special dance to ensure my safety. While I am doing my planning to go to my DVC resort I whirl around in my living room at least three times and chant my special mantra "Nothing NOthing Nothing Nothing Nothing Bad Will Happen to me when I go to my DVC resort, not even when I am planning to go". That always helps, you should try it! Another recommendation for the newbies, but no need to thank me!

Bought @ BWV for the cheap, standard points (how sad to see it admitted in print) though terrified of clowns. IMO nothing scarier, except for the Stiffs @ the Yachtsman. Nothing against the fun lovin DVC bunch @ the BCV. ;)

The name of the BW pool is Luna Park. Anyone ever see the clown at the real Luna Park?

Now this is scary! The BW clown is nothing compared to this one!
