We are considering relocating to GA and these two builders are at the top of our list from what we have seen so far. Anyone own a home by one of these builders? Are you happy with it?

We owned a Pulte home in suburban Maryland in the mid 1990s and we were not happy with it. Cheap materials poorly put together. We would not buy another one.

We built a Pulte home in 2003 and have loved it since we've moved in. We had a few issues with the warranty department in fixing things quickly, but everything got done in due time, except for our driveway, which still needs replacing. :)

Dateline had a 1 hour special on Pulte and other builders (it aired a year or two ago), Pulte especially had MAJOR problems in several of their developments. I remember one family's house, if you pushed back an forth on the front wall of the house, you could feel the whole house shake, and this was in an area that has building codes for hurricanes! :earseek: Also, when you sign the contract to purchase you give up the right to sue them in court, you must go through arbitration to settle disputes

As I said, this was a few years ago and they may have cleaned up their act. Also, I don't own a Pulte home so I can't speak from personal experiance. But the show made me never want to buy a home from them!

We just bought a Pulte Home last June. We have had no problems. The only complaint I have is their service dept. we are still waiting for our 11 month walkthrough.

We also owned a Pulte home in Maryland. Had to threaten with lawsuits to get basic roofing bracing fixed (a builder friend told us that one more snowstorm would have caved in our roof).

Pulte couldn't have cared less. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

My husband contracted to do plumbing work for them several years ago. He didn't like what he saw.

I just bought a Pulte condo that was built in 2000. No problems that I know of. It is better quality than other builder's single family homes in this area. I think a lot of other builders besides Pulte have problems too.

Oh, and it's held up very well through 2 hurricanes.
