Just wondering if anyone knew. As you can see from the countdown we are leaving in a couple of days with my in-laws. It would be nice if they went down for their 1st trip to the BWV and it was beautifully decorated as it has in the past. Thanks.

Yes they do! The resort interiors and trees are decorated/put up at night when there is less traffic etc in the lobbies. You go to bed with the normal resort lobby and wake up the next morning and Christmas has arrived in full splendor. Talk about pixie dust and magic! Only Disney!!! :D

The decorating teams are fun to watch while they go to work putting up OR taking down the decorations.

I stayed up late last January to watch them dismantle the Christmas decor at the Boarwalk Villas and was impressed by the speed they worked with!

Beware, this link takes you to some slightly disturbing photos. Don't view if you don't want to see Christmas as it slowly disappears. LOL

Nink,
Where did you find the list for decorating?
It seems that WDW is starting earlier than before. In 11/99 at OKW the Xmas decorations appeared the day after T'giving, 2001 they were up before T'giving. In 01/03 at BWV the decorations came down just before MLK day. It is a fun watching the Xmas magic appear.

I'm not Nink, but I know where the schedule came from - right here on the DIS! :teeth: Click here to see it for yourself.

Lots of other great Holiday info on the DIS too.

Enjoy!

Great thread! Does anyone know officially when they take the decorations down? We are going to be there for the Marathon and would love to see the decor since it has been a few years since we have see the Christmas decor.

 (that is for the hubby)

Some of my family was at WDW at New Years this year. I think they said that they started taking the decor down around the 7th of January. They must try and leave it up for the New Years people that come.

Thanks CarolMN
I should have known that the DIS would have the info!
Last Jan BWV was decorated until (if I remember correctly) Jan 15 th. MY BIL's family arrived that night and I was disappointed that they missed the decorations by one day.

We left BWV today at 4:30 pm to fly home to Michigan. I am not sure if the decorations are complete (I don't know how much they put up), but there were definitely many out already, both inside and outside.

Regarding when they remove the decorations, I sent an e-mail to WDW about a week ago asking when the decorations were coming down (trying to figure out if we can get there early enough in January to still see them), and received this response:

>>> the Christmas Decoration are taken down by
area and that work begins on January 2. <<<

I hope this helps. It doesn't help me, because I don't think we're going to get there in time to see them. :(

We just got back from WDW last night & stopped at BW before we left just to see the decorations. BCV, BC & YC were decorated Wed. night/Thursday morning; so, I assumed that BW would be done too.......but, as of Thursday night 9:30 pm, no luck. Their decorations must of gone up Thursday night/Friday morning. I'm glad we got to see them yesterday; BW is such a beautiful location & the tree on the Green is lovely. I'm just sorry it was too early to see the gingerbread!

Decorations are going up today 11/8/2003
