anyone know somebody like this....... **UPDATED Post #96**

FYI..... Shhhhhhhh, don't tell anyone, but OP has been here all along......... just watching......... I was always the one to start the fight and then sit back and say, "what?????? I am not doing anything".......

BTW, no clue if my friends made it or not... no phone call.... will have to wait until they get home.....

tip toe...... back into seclusion......

I thought of something to add that is actually on topic.

Just because you are going thru a small airport, that doesn't mean you can show up at the last minute. My local airport is pretty small. Recently they shifted around which airlines were flying from which gates, putting the majority of flights down one of the 2 wings of the airport. Which then increased the amount of people trying to get thru security that way.

Being a small airport, there was no way to add more check points, or even more staff at that end. I'm not sure how or if they have fixed it, but for a while the security lines for that wing were long! What was usually a 10 minute check point turned into 30 minute or more, depending on time of day. I'm sure more than one traveler was taken by suprise.

We have a friend who travels a lot for work and does this. She had an international flight in 3 hours. DW saw her at the nail salon and she still had to get her grocery shopping done and finish packing. We live 50 mins or so away from the airport in Boston and that also doesn't include parking, check-in, security getting to gate, etc. I was freaking out for her.

My parents next-door neighbors. Everytime they travel it is like a scene out of Home Alone. Once I went to WDW with their DD, we go to the airport so late I was sure our bags wouldn't make it and I didn't even have time to go to the bathroom. That was the first time I ever went potty on a plane, up until then I was always able to avoid it... lol

You just never know what you are in for driving to Boston on the Pike, 128/95 and 93. Once I was leaving Newton to meet my parents at Logan for a flight to MCO on a Friday night (pre-Ted Williams tunnel, it was still the elevated central artery). My boss made me 'run an errand' to Wilmington on the way! :scared1: Still don't know how I made it!

Hmmm, wonder in what possible situation anyone could consider Wilmington on the way to Logan from Newton??? That's actually kind of funny.
Pre-Ted tunnel drives were nasty. It made us always head to TF Green in RI. But now, it's only about 40 mins for us to get to Logan from central Mass. BUT.....we still arrive at the airport 2 hrs before flight departure. No cutting it too close for us. We actually like to sit and relax at the gate. Get a bite to eat, use the potty...so much better than rushing around, worrying about security taking too long.

This is Yet Another Reason why I love my club lounge access. Get there early, grab a drink, settle in with that day's edition of the Times on my K2. Priceless. (Well, technically not priceless--there is a price. But it is so worth it!)

He he he....

Some of us arrive early at IAD just so that we can enjoy the new Lufthansa lounge (which unlike the RCC is mouse-free). Or arrive early at ORD to read the vast selection of German papers in the RCC (which are willingly given to German readers not flying LH once all the LH flights for the day have departed)

Mommmmmmm!! Brian's showing off again!!!

I believe that you have the wrong thread, Missy. That is for the 'What to Wear in First Class' thread, isn't it?

Cause Wilmington is on the way..... :rotfl2: good lord. Glad it worked out. I know what you mean. Coming from NH it is usually 3 to 128 to 93 and you just never know what you will hit.

I am in the "If I'm not 30 minutes early I'm late" camp for life and I usually try to be at the airport 2 hrs and 15 mins ahead of time. My husband on the other hand is in the "it will still be there when we get there" camp. Our next flight leaves at 6:15 AM, that is not going to be a pretty morning

That became known in my family as the trip that "Michelle went to Disney for a weekend with fifty-cents in her purse and came home with the same fifty-cents" (of course I charged a few things, but I pretty much bummed off my parents for a few days.) I never made it to an ATM on the way to the airport due to my 'errand'-lol! It is 11 years later and when we get to the airport my Dad still hands me 2 quarters and says "here is your spending money." :rotfl:

For the love of God...can we please not go down the 'what to wear in first class' road???? Please?????

Ok, but that will prompt me to reply 'MOOOOOM, DUDS STARTED IT!'

(Actually, he starts quite a few of the good threads, doesn't he?) :goodvibes

He always starts them... knowing full well he can rile the not-actually-employed into responding... That duds... he kills me, he really does! ;)

The real question now, of course, is whether we can keep this thread going until the friends get back from their trip and we can FINALLY FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED!!!!

I think the key is that there is a huge difference between traveling by yourself on business and bringing the entire family. If I am flying alone I usually arrive an hour before departure. That gives me time to get through security, use the restroom, grab a bottle of water and not sprint down the jetway. You also need to know your airport. Atlanta is a zoo and it could take 15-20 minutes to get to your gate once through security, so I would add some extra time there.

When I travel with DW and DS (3) I am happy to arrive 1.5 hours ahead of time since everything takes longer with a toddler.
I agree, but we still haven't gotten answers to whether the "friends" were elite F frequent travelers with carry on baggage only. I will be traveling out of MSY on Southwest on a Monday with the parents, one in a wheelchair and I am sure they will be checking a steamer trunk load of luggage. I will allow extra time for such a trip, but frankly if it were just me I would arrive with less than half the time and still make it with time to make it for a cocktail at the airport.

THE POINT IS WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE FRIEND AND THEIR TRAVEL STATUS!
