Anyone know much about hallucinations?

An elderly family member has recently told us that she is seeing "people". More specifically, she's seeing young girls dancing, sort of like in a chorus line. This family member is calm during these hallucinations and can continue conversations with us. She's also aware that no one else can see these "people". The doctors don't seem to know why this is happening. In fact, they've taken her off some medications to help in other matters. Anyone have any experience with this?

I don't have personal experience with this(except for the time i took codeine) but I'm a nurse, and my first thought was "check her meds". It is not uncommon for medications to affect the elderly differently. Glad her doctor is involved. Just about any medication can do this and she doesn't need to stop taking her meds cold-turkey--that can have other bad side effects. Reassure her that her doctor can find the source of her hallucinations and encourage her to be upfront about any and all drugs/herbs she's using, even meds for constipation or colds.
