Anyone get real nervous before a trip?

Me!! This is the 1st trip I'm nervous about though and it's because it's my mom's 1st trip and I want it to be perfect!

I do. I get nervous I'm going to forget something important. I get nervous something will happen at the last minute and we'll have to cancel. Last minute shopping that has to be done drives me crazy but it always seems I'm out trying to find something at the last minute. I also worry about the resort and how it will be. Once we get there and get our room and it's clean and nice I unpack and I'm okay.

The only nerves I experience is the plane going up and the plane going down. Other than that I'm just fine.

Yes, most definitely! I started getting anxiety last week. Not only have I been so busy at work, I'm thinking of everything at home to do. We've been trying to walk 4 miles in the evening so I'm also hoping to lose another 5 lbs, that also has me worried. There's just so much to think about. This past weekend we bought all our personal use items, this weekend I'm be going through my closet and decided what to wear. I also need to get some cleaning done this weekend. The day before we leave I need to wash the dogs and get all their stuff ready (they are staying with my SIL), and pack. There's just so much to do and so little time but I feel it's also not getting here fast enough!
I have to block all that out and think positive thoughts, after all I am really excited!!! :cool1:

Yep, I'm nervous, but I keep reminding myself that we aren't going to Zimbabwe - anything I forget I can replace there (almost).

I am the exact same even though we are coming from the other side of the pond we know we can get stuff there.

I have been enough times to know that but I still get nervous. I check, check and check my bags to make sure I have tickets/passport etc.
Once I am on the flight there is nothing I can do about it. I just try my best to relax.

I don't usually, but I am right now. I leave tomorrow, and have a kid getting over a bad cold (finishing antibiotics tomorrow), my husband's traveling on business until tonight and I have to drop my car off at the shop today, leaving me without transportation once I do. I'm ruminating endlessly on everything I need before tomorrow's 6:30 a.m. flight :upsidedow -- so uneasy that I'm forgetting something major. :scared: Gotta keep reminding myself that I can get most anything I need while I'm there. Good luck to you and all us other nervous Nellies getting ready to go! It'll be awesome once we're there! Eyes on the prize! :thumbsup2

My dear Mom, now almost 80, works herself into a frenzy before every trip, and has as long as I can remember. She does psycho laundry, ironing, yardwork, cleaning, etc. etc. I really don't recall any sweet anticipation of family trips. I do recall her barking orders, yelling, crying, and usually not sleeping before we travelled. It's really no fun heading out with someone that tired and cranky (picturing Ursula in my mind -- hehe). I've often wanted to ask her: What do you gain from getting so wound up? And do you have any idea how it makes your family feel?

So no, I don't get nervous. I make an extra effort to stay calm and downright happy that we get to go on an adventure together. Everyone past age 6 gets a list of what to set out to pack, and everyone has a few chores to do. The necessities get done. We expect things to go wrong or to be forgotten sometimes, and they sure do! (A 12 hr delay with only pretzels and water in the Colorado Springs airport last trip.) Hopefully handling it all calmly teaches our kids to be adaptable and level-headed, too.

You're packing suitcases and going somewhere wonderful, not facing major surgery. Chill. Really.

I'm a worrier by nature and especially so before traveling. I'm a nervous flyer too so that doesn't help. This coming trip is making me exceptionally nervous as it is our first time traveling with DD. I'm not sure how she will do on the plane, sleeping in the hotel, how she will be in the parks, etc. You name it, I've thought about it. I'm a stress bucket! DH says I need to let things go, but it's the unknown that gets me. I'm a planner so not being able to know how things will go is killing me! :rotfl:

I only nervous trying to pack everyone up in time. I never sleep the night before. I'm most nervous though, that someone will get sick right before we leave. With 6 of us, it's never too far fetched that someone will come down with something and always at the most "opportune" time.

We leave Friday am, we are family of 7 and currently have 2 kids hacking and snotting up alot (green/yellow), and one that is croupy. GREAT... :scared:I am praying and hoping everyone is better for the flight.

I get nervous, mostly about flying...and now I get "ticket paranoia". Three years ago, we were going to MNSSHP, and was all dressed up and ready to walk out the door, when I looked at the tickets, and saw they were tickets I had kept as souvenirs from the year before!! :sad2: I was freaking out, and called Guest services, who transferred me to someone else. Within 5 minutes, we had arranged two new tickets to be waiting for us at Will Call. I was amazed, how quickly they were able to track down the tickets I bought for the Party, voided them, and issued new tickets! YAY CMs!! :cheer2:

Since then, I started keeping a folder with everything in them...tickets, ADRs, Food & Wine Kiosk menus, etc..AND I keep the folder in my carry-on (even now, two months ahead of time), because I KNOW I won't forget my carry-on!

I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks...used to throw up before every single trip...sometimes so much so I could not get on the plane. Frustrating as heck because I'm not afraid of flying at all, and if I were going someplace unpleasant I didn't have this reaction....finally I am letting go and conquering this. I will use your reminder if I happen to get queasy...(along with every other trick and medication I know!) :thumbsup2

Hooray Rosie! I hope it can help, and that you have a magically fantastic trip!

I have such bad anxiety! especially with flying I take xanax and dramemine just to get me thru the short 2 1/2 hour flight. Once I'm at Disney it goes away but once in a while I get a lil anexity and need to go back to the resort

As soon as I hit the 3 months to go mark I start freaking out until the day I leave when I'm calm and ready to go! This year it's started a little early- this morning I woke up at 4am with a shocking headache and a slight dose of stomach flu and all I could think of was 'what if this happens while I'm in WDW?!', so then I started imagining all the different terrible scenarios. I also worry about my dad and how he will cope (I'm his carer) looking after himself and the cats for a couple of weeks. I panic about 15hrs in a plane, check my passport/tickets/money a million times and am convinced something will be missing or go wrong.
All this is irrational I know but it takes me until the day before to get it all out of my system so I relax and have a great time.

I get EXTREME anxiety before our trips. My DH stays at home while me and DD13 go to Disney. It's a lot of stress on me thinking about him not eating while we are gone-LOL! Also, I leave my precious 13-year-old Sweetpea(dog)behind and my brilliant, (thinks-she's-human) Poodle Pixie behind! I so would love to carry her all day long in the parks--she would loooooove it! But alas, she a dog! Have to keep it in perspective.
We do have so much fun, my DD and I:goodvibes. It's just so hard to leave. I also have PTSD which affects my getting up during the night. Bad childhood-don't ask!!. So, when we get up at 3:30 to leave, I am nauseous and you can't even talk to me until we get to the airport. The ride there is brutal for me.

Yes, I do a little bit, but DH does too! Before we left last year he had to go throw up in the bathroom! Poor guy, he will kill me if he knows I posted that!

Lol! Sounds silly but you're so lucky! My DH won't even go with us.:sad1:

Yes always think I forgot something but it never matters. Disney has everything you could possibly need.

Ok. This is true to an extent:goodvibes. Disney did have PJ's and a bathing suit-which I forgot both of them once but they did not have any makeup or good brushes for blow drying hair! I forgot my makeup and round brush in August 2011. It was bad. Frizzy hair and ugly eyes w/no mascara! Really bad.:crazy2:
Other than that--they do have a great selection of stuff!:cheer2: I actually forgot our brush last week--lol!! My hair was a curly mess (You would think I would have learned?!!!) but I did have my makeup!!!!!:thumbsup2

Yes! I am in charge of all research, planning, and packing for the family, and I am a bit of an over planner, so I always stress before trips. Especially the first time we go somewhere. Especially here! I had no idea how much Info there is out there about WDW!

But if I feel I have planned and packed well, I usually relax the minute we get in the car because I know I can't do any more, and all that is left is to have fun. I don't even mind if things don't go as planned because I had a plan if we needed it. If we chose to deviate from it or the unexpected happens, I feel free to roll with the flow.

I definately get stressed/anxious for the trip. I am afraid I will forget something with packing. I am a nurse/mom, so I get really worried about getting sick prior to the trip or while we are in Disney. Can't really think of anything worse than having sick children or being sick myself and missing a day in the park.
