Anyone Game? 2 Castles and a Road Trip TR! Last Day and TR Wrap Up! #2796; 10/01

Beautiful firework shots! So crisp and clean. Even the 'blurry' ones are terrific. I think it would be lots of fun to do one of those cruises sometime, especially with DIS folks, who would appreciate it.

I love the fireworks shots. I really enjoy the Electrical Water Pageant. We have seen it from various points on land, but also watched in on the lake once when we were on a boat from Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary. I loved watching it from the water.

I am so happy you mentioned that you posted these at LAST!:lmao:

It feels great to relive that night!

It will happen I can feel it :goodvibes So nice to see you and Ed ( SunDial) finally come out of hiding around here Thanks PIO for tempting them in !

BIG BBQ Dismeet when you come back again PIO Plenty of photo ops around here

Just down the road Pretty huh ?

OK, I'm behind because of the move and there is a lot I have wanted to comment on but didn't get a chance.

I'm so sorry that you felt bad enough to take a taxi back to the BCV and then that backfired on you. I know how far it was to CSR past BCV that cab driver really effed up! I'm glad though that it helped to snap you out of the ickey feeling.

That meatball was very good. We enjoyed ours, I would imagine that eating one yourself pretty much did you for lunch, and I agree the lobster roll was not that great. We would have liked a little less cooked and a little more mayo and seasoning. it was just kind of bland and dry. I'm sorry you didn't try the Belgian waffles. The savory one was just to die for, it was some sort of beef thing over a savory waffle. We loved it. The sweet ones were great too.

At CA grill we got the sushi plate the pork sushi plate, large ravioli thing and tomato salad. Both the sushi things fell short of the mark. We have great sushi in So Cal and both these were sub par. They may have looked good, but didn't measure up tastewise. The best thing was the giant ravioli, I didn't love the tomato salad, but Fran thought it was pretty good.

We got the dessert sampler that everyone is raving about and they are correct, it was fun and yummy! I would do that one again if I came back here, which is unlikely for a while.

Now I like hearing your photo babble. I can't remember what settings that I used for the fireworks last week, but I believe I was around 1/50 for most as I was doing handheld. I would like to know what you do for the long trails that you get with a tripod, I couldn't seem to get those at WDW this trip.

I loved the pontoon boat trip. Fran and I were in the back and we didn't get to talk to may people on the boat, but we had a really nice time seeing Discover Island that we visited back in 1997 and River Country that I never visited. This is still the only time that I have seen the Electric Water Pageant so that was awesome!

Your Hallowishes Fireworks pictures are great! I can't wait to figure our how to take the long trails fireworks pictures for my nesx trip or trip to DL!

The cruise sounds like great fun!

And the fireworks shots turned out great, even without the long tails :thumbsup2

Thanks. :goodvibes

There is another another bus story coming in the future. :lmao::lmao:

There might well be. ;)

That was neat that you had a nice picture of all the DISers during the meet. The cruise looks very interesting to do with a big group of people and the pictures of the Electrical Water Pageant are very nice.

The firework pictures looks very nice even without a tripod and on a boat. I have taken pictures of the fireworks at DL & the MK without the tripod and overall they are very nice. Overall, the pictures turned out nice on the boat.

It was nice of Ed to drive you back to your room and pass by the Monorail/WDW RR Roundhouse.

Very nice update.

Thanks Bret. It's been a while since I've taken firework pictures handheld.

The cruise was a great way to spend the evening.

II will post my pics of the Wishes cruise and the group picture when I get a good internet connection to upload them. Right now I'm on my cell phone.

The nifty 50 is a great lens. When I got my fast prime I went a little wider with the Nikkor 35 1.8 I love this lens. My go to lens is the Nikkor 24-70 2.8. This is what I shot most of if not all pics with this night.

Thanks Ed.

Nice job on the fireworks shots. "Workmanlike", and sometimes, that is best. Couple of very appealing shots in there.

I did a big backstage tour (during the day.,..) and we visited those buildings back behind MK. Pictures were not allowed! However, absolutely fascinating! There is one building back there that was the first building built on property,m and it is the shops building, and that is where they made everything! From trash cans to animatronic figures and monorail cars! I told the guy if I had walked in there 40 years earlier, I would never have left!

:)

Jud

Do they run that backstage tour still? It sounds like it might be a good one to go on and learn more about WDW.

Love both updates. :thumbsup2

Is that not the cutest little Coke bottle for the Cal Grill Coke float?

We have eaten at the Cal Grill once in 2007. It was one of the best meals we've had at WDW- both food and service were amazing.

Your shots of Hallowishes are great. I like seeing it from a different view. Very nice.

I loved the dessert. It was so much fun.....and that little coke bottle was wonderful.

You ate at Cali Grill in the 'hey days'. Lucky you. :thumbsup2

Beautiful pics! Sounds like it was a fab evening from beginning to end!

Thanks. It was a great evening.

Nice pics on TGMR.
Very nice pics of Fantasmic.
Nice pics of beach Club.
Nice DTD pics.
Love EOS. That is least amount of people I have seen in there. LOl.
Nice the balloons were waiting there.
The candy made me hungry.
I have that unfriend you shirt.
Never been in DisneyQuest but it looks fun.
The Dreamworks exhibit looked fun.
Sorry you didn’t feel well and had to leave.
I think cab drivers do that purposely to make more.
Glad you recovered quickly. LOL.
Nice group pic.
Nice pics at CG.
How nice you all did that cruise. We did a few years back and it is truly one of the best experiences I ever had there.
Nice fireworks shots.
I am all caught up again.

LOL. You DID catch up. That was a lot!

Beautiful firework shots! So crisp and clean. Even the 'blurry' ones are terrific. I think it would be lots of fun to do one of those cruises sometime, especially with DIS folks, who would appreciate it.

I've done the Illuminations cruise with family. The Wishes cruise with Dis folk was way more fun.

After this trip, next time.....if there is a next time....I'm going to see if I can find different places to view the Wishes fireworks from. It's nice to have different vantage points and perspectives rather than up on Main Street all the time.

 Thanks for checking in Bobbi. Yes, I've been having a lot of fun writing this TR because of the memories involved.

I didn't get to eat from Belgium on this day. :rolleyes1

Yes, that meatball pretty much filled me up. I was surprised at how filling it was.

Glad to read that you loved the pontoon ride. It was one of our highlights for the trip. I really enjoyed seeing the different parts of WDW and the different perspective for the Electric Water Pageant and HalloWishes.

I'll make sure I share the long trails photography details a bit later on in this TR.

I have all faith that you will be back someday As far as I know I'm not going anywhere The Welcome Mat will always be out for you :goodvibes

Photographs are great! I have yet to enjoy the water pageant so it was lovely to share your experience. Bonus for you it was part of a dismeet :-)

There is much talk of what they will do with the space at River Country. I hope they do something cool it's a fabulous location.

Photographs hard with a moving target on a moving target, add lack of light, reflection. Oh my! Amazingly skilful shots. A credit to you.

Awwwww, beautiful pictures of Wishes. I will admit I skimmed over the photo talk because it's really like reading another language. :rotfl:

Very cool that the captain took you past River Country and Discover Island. I have no recollection of making it to Discovery Island as a child (probably should ask my Mom if we ever did go there) but I do remember swimming at River Country!

Here is my pic from the DISmeet the night of the Wishes Cruise.

Getting into the photo babble, I was using shutter priority at 1/125. The F-stop was F4 and ISO was 400

Here are some of the Wishes Cruise pics I took. All were shot with shutter priority

Here I was using the 35 1.8 prime, 1/100, F 1.8 and ISO 6400

1/50, F 1.8, ISO 6400

Out for the light parade and fireworks I switched to the 24-70 2.8

1/100/ F2.8 6400

1/50, 2.8, 6400

1/100 2.8 6400

The following were taken from over at the Contemporary dock

1/125 2.8 6400

1/80 2.8 6400

1/100 2.8 6400

1/100 2.8 6400

1/100 2.8//6400

Now on to some fireworks pictures. Like PIO said it is hard to shoot these with a rock to the boat. For me working on deep breathing to help control the heart rate really helped with these shots. Tripods would have made everything look terrible here.

Also as PIO said there will be tripod shots later on.

1/100 2.8 6400

1/200 2.8 6400

1/200 2.8 6400

1/200 2.8 6400

1/200 2.8 6400

Now this one on this cruise became my favorite as the firework gods were smiling on us tonight

1/200 2.8 6400

160 2.8 6400

1/100 2.8 6400

1/100 2.8 6400

1/320 2.8 6400

:wave2: my favorite is the last one so much going on, the smoke, etc you can almost hear the explosions very nice

I have all faith that you will be back someday As far as I know I'm not going anywhere The Welcome Mat will always be out for you :goodvibes

It is reciprocal rights should you and Fred ever make it Down Under. :thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed the water pageant. It is a cute show to see.

I understand that there might never be plans for River Country because there is an amoeba or something that causes problems with humans. The amoeba does naturally occur in freshwater so Disney would need to reinvent River Country where there would be no human contact with the natural lake water.

Thank you.

You should ask your Mom to see if you did go. How cool would that be?

And yes, keep ignoring the photobabble. ;)

This is the current incarnation, a bit different than when I did it, but close enough!

I only ever get as far as looking at the minimum age where guests have to be 16 or older and stop. It'll be a few years before DS gets old enough for us to consider taking this tour.

Thanks for sharing your shots, Ed. Really appreciate it.

The fireworks and the cruise ones are great. Your camera works great at ISO 6400!

Oh my re River Country! They could keep it as a punishment for guests that are abusive to other guests. You have been sentence to 6 hours at River Country no sun lotion and no parole.

:scratchin I''m pretty sure that the last penal colony set up by the British was Australia. You'll have no argument from me if you want to set up another one. :teeth:
