Anyone for the Western cruise 4/9/05???

Hi Katy! Well, the Palo thing is a hard one. When you board the ship, you will need to go to Rock n' Bar D to sign up for a date to go to dinner or brunch. They have sign ups from 12 - 3. As soon as we board that is where my parents will be heading. Okay, this sounds really stupid, but, I sat down with the three different dining rotations and figured out what day I wanted them to go to Palo. I didn't want them to miss certain things. I figure their best day will be Thursday or Tuesday.

If you go to castawayclub(dot)com (have to spell it out or it will be deleted!)
that web site has March 2005 western navigators. They answer a lot of questions.

About the flip flops. I bought my dd's black dressy flip flops to wear every night to dinner. Simple sandals would be great. I hope no one is paying attention to what is on my feet :rolleyes1

Any more questions, let us know....we will all try to help.

Hope

We will be doing the 2-hour Stingray City excursion thru Captain Marvins in Grand Caymen and the Dolphin Encounter in Cozumel.

Welcome to the thread! How many people does the Magic hold? I'm thinking we have a good 8 percent of them here in this thread.

For Grand Cayman, we booked Captain Marvin's half day excursion on our own. For Cozumel, we booked a dune buggy tour, also on our own. I'm not sure about Key West whether we'll get off the boat or not. If I don't get busy finding me some clothes up here, I might shop for a couple things in Key West. Being that it's a girly kind of thing, shopping, I don't think dh will be interested.

What's your opinions on walkie talkies? I started reading the thread on the regular cruise board but never got around to posting. I know they can be annoying to listen to. I distinctly remember being stuck behind someone in line at the store who had her volume on hers way up and had a long, loud and boring conversation with someone on the other end about what to pick up for dinner. On the other hand, they're undeniably handy for families who are going separate ways. I'm bringing ours. We use them in the mall, on the slopes, and when dh and I are driving in separate cars to the same destination. Before we moved, the boys were to carry one when they went out in the woods behind our house or to the neighbors.

We plan on bringing our walkie talkies with us. I don't know how much we will us them.

Why is the time dragging?

Jill

Ok I finally got my Lanyards. I feel silly asking this question, but, what do I do with them? I thought they would come with a little case to put the KTTW card in? They didn't? It looks like a key holder that hangs on my neck??!! I guess I missed the thread on how they work? Can anyone help?

Well, talk about depressing my DH just came in and told me we are expecting more snow!! :cold: I am sooooooo over this winter.

When is April going to get here??????? :Pinkbounc

Does anyone know of a good place to get underwater cameras? We are looking around and was wondering if anyone found a good deal anywhere.

I can't believe its getting so close. WOW! I just can't wait. Time seems to be going by so slowly.

See everyone real soon.

HI Katy and welcome!!! :flower: The one thing you have to remember about these boards is that it's just peoples opinions and they vary greatly. So this is just my 2 cents. ;) If I where going to go to Palos I would pick the first night I was at Lumiere's. This was my least favorite dinning room/memu. THe second time you would be in this dinning room it would be for a "special" menu Pirate night, Captains Gala, Best of etc. But you can look at the website Hope listed and take a peek at the menus and see which ones you wouldn't mind missing.

Flip Flops - I remember this being a heated topic at one point on the boards. My daughters love them and I can't keep them out of them. They are already begging to wear them to school. They will be wearing theirs to dinner except for semi and formal night (Palo if they were old enough). They wear the cheap Old Navy 3.50 a pair ones. I try to get them to wear the nicers ones and it's a no go. They like only these. I have checked the Disney website plus read through my doc (which came yesterday yeah!!!!) and I don't see where they can't be worn. If anyone has found this somewhere, PLEASE let me know.

Evans family and Yvettepal- If you are doing cpt marvins in the morning (8:30-10:30 I think)we will be with you. Yazhee I think yours is later in the day if you are doing the half day one. Anyone else doing this?

Jordan - How is the wife doing? I bought under Fuji camers at Target for 8.00 bucks a piece. THougt I would put them in my DD's baskets.

PAcking - I'm pack and so is my youngest DD. Any one else done? It's pretty easy for me to pack since it's too cold to wear any summer clothes.

Have a great day everyone!!! THink warm thoughts :sunny:

Thanks for the replies! I guess I still have more to figure out...and I thought I was so organized! lol.

Thanks for the link to those personal navigators. It looks like Disney has everything completely planned out!

One more thing- How do I know what dining rotation I have? I've heard they go with a 3 letter code, like, PAL. Is that something I find out before hand? Or only once I board? I think we'll be there at about 10:30 am...I'm not going to miss getting Palo reservations will I? Or what about reserving a massage at Castaway Cay? Pam and I have decided to split up and get in line. Also, do we have to do that AS SOON as we walk on board, or can we go to our room first and drop off our bags? Do we even have our bags with us? Or do we check them in before we get on?? Ahhh the more I think about it the more questions I come up with!

OK, well I guess that was more than one thing. ;)

Believe it or not, I JUST found out that I had my stateroom number. haha! I had no idea that was listed on my cruise documents! I'm on deck 5! Yay! I thought that because we had the cheapest room we'd be on the very bottom, like, under the water. Wait, are ANY rooms under water??? Or is everyone always above the water line?

Now I'm laughing at myself because I feel like I'm being totally dumb. Excuse my stupidness! I've never been on a cruise ship! All I have to compare to is the movie Titanic...LOL!
-Katy

P.S. I figured out how to put a picture in my signature! That's us! :)

I agree, underwater camera's at WM or Target will be about the same price. I did read some where that on the ship they charge $30 for one that you can buy at WM for $8 :earseek:

I have had such a long month. I am really looking forward to getting away for a week. It has been so rainy here. It should be in the low 70's this weekend, but it will be raining.

I am starting to make my list for DH to take care of as soon as we get on board at Guest Services. 1. Charging taken off 3 dd's cards 2. Bridge tour 3. Apply Disney Rewards 4. FInd out when Galley Tour is! Can we think of any other honey do's??

I would love to do the dune buggy thing in Cozumel. DD's want to stay on the ship. Still don't know what we will be doing at that port. I suppose we will just do last minute decision there.

Almost time!! :p

Yay! more ?'s I can answer!!!

First, you bages will be taken at the terminal, the porters there will bring them to the ship and they arrive in your room :teeth: Rember to tip them a couple of dollars per bag though

Seond, All the rooms are above water, except the crew and only one of there decks are below water, You probably wouldnt notice if you were under water anyway :P

If you got a cheep room on deck 5 it must be a Cat. 11 next to my older brothers :earseek: I'll tell them to try to keep it down and not yell into your rom :earboy2:

OMG!!! ONLY 15 DAYS!!!! :hourglass

We are on the 11:15-1:15 excursion. 8:30 was too early for us. :)

Does anyone know of a good place to get underwater cameras? We are looking around and was wondering if anyone found a good deal anywhere.

I found our waterproof cameras at Target. I think they were $8 or $9. They have 27 exposures in them.

Hi all. Thanks for the help on the cameras. I gotta get some before the ship. We ran into that problem on the ship last time and they were like 30 dollars so we didn't buy them and we missed out on a stingray swimming at castaway cay. The wife is doing really well. She went back to work on Monday and she didn't have very much pain at all.

Is anyone else flying out of Minneapolis? We are leaving on Aug 8 at 6 in the morning so our vacation officially starts on the 7th when we drive to MSP. :Pinkbounc I am so excited. Time is still going so slow. See you real soon!

2 WEEKS FROM TODAY!!!!!!!

I cant belive it's so close!!!! :goodvibes Mom is packing stuff as I type! we're really exited, It's inally here!!!

2 weks...my god!!! :hourlgass

Has anyone gotten an upgrade yet for the 4/9/05 magic cruise? When do they usually notify you. I've sailed with disney three times and have as yet never received an upgrade.

I read a post where some one on our cruise was upgraded, they haven't joined this thread! I MIGHT try at the port, but not sure if I want to spend the extra $$. Would rather spend that on fun things.

The 11:15 excursion sounds good in GC. We have an 8:30 hour trip in a semi sub. Might think about taking the kids back to ship and joining the stingray excursion. Yvette, How much did that trip cost?

It is off to softball practice! It is suppose to be 72 here tomorrow!!!! :)

What time do we get into Grand Cayman? I have not booked Captain Marvin's yet but need to do so! I thought I saw somewhere that we don't get in until 10:30..can't be right!

castawayclub dot com says we dock around 7 AM. We were off the ship by 7:30 - 7:45 AM last trip.

:flower:

According to my docs the ashore time is 7:30 for GC day. We booked our excursion in the AM because I find myself not doing other things for worrying about being late to something I have scheduled during the middle of the day. I'm not sure if that made any sense.

Katy- You won't find out your dinning rotation until you get your KTTW card. It will be printed on that. I have read on the other boards that adult only parties usually have the LAP rotation but no one really knows for sure. I have never done Palos or the spa so I'm no help there. If you think you may do both you may want to check into the REAS package. That way you can book Palos and Spa now. It's worth the price for some who want to make sure they get the times the want.

Have a great evening everyone!!! :sunny:

GC is really funny beacuse of tendering, If you have excursions you are allowed to get off earlier than everyone else, If you have excurusions you get off at about 7:45 or so open tendering dosent start till about 11:00 am!!! :earseek: (that only leaves 5 hours on the island! since we leave at 4:30)

It is $34.00 for adults and $20 for kids.
