Bay View Campground in Bourne, MA

Cape Ann Camp Site in Gloucester, MA

I know it's a long shot, but is anyone familiar with these? I thought I remembered someone talking about Bay View here.

Anyway, we just made a ressie for late July -- five nights at Bay View and four at Cape Ann.

Any thoughts?

Hi Barb,

We've been to Bayview Family Campground in Bourne. It's a really nice place. We were there in early June last year so the pool wasn't open yet, but there was a lot of other things to do. One day we rode our bikes to the canal and rode up and down the cape cod canal.

The people are really nice - Hope you like it!

Lisa

Thanks Lisa. We picked this place for the kids (because there is lots to do) and we picked Cape Ann more for ourselves (it's supposed to be very quiet and beautiful there).

It's always good to have some positive feedback on a place you've never stayed.

Hi Barb, I agree with Lisa. Bayview is a very nice campground. You will be at "the gateway to the cape" so there will be many places you can go from there.
We tend to stay at Scusset Beach Campground in Bourne. It is an open campground but we like it because it is right on the ocean. Try to check it out while your there in case you would like to try it in the future. If you have bikes and ride the canal, you can ask anyone and check it out from there as it sits right on the canal. The campground sits in the middle of two beaches and the canal. It really is a great spot for sunning, swimming and fishing.
Can you tell I love it there? And it is close to home which is even better.
Have fun, you have made a good choice.

I have never been to Cape Ann so I can't help you there.
I have heard it is nice though.

Another one in the area you might want to check out is Normandy Farms. TL Rated 10/10/10, Woodalls 5/5. I was checking it out for a trip to Boston next year. They have five pools on site - including one indoor.

Normandy Farms is a very nice year round campground. The indoor pool was closed for renovation for so long I am not even sure it is open yet. I would call before going to make sure it is open now if that is important to you. They have a bus that goes into Boston from there and maybe even a bus to Cape Cod. Boston is about 40 minutes from there and The Cape is about an hour. It is located in Foxboro, Ma. There is not much to do in the immediate area but it is a nice place to stay if you wanted to see both Boston and the Cape.

My family camps a lot and we have gone to Normandy farms a lot. Not sure if the indoor pool is open but they have some very nice outdoor pools. They have an arcade for the kids and they do bingo and activities for the kids. They are very centrally located between boston and the Cape. My mom and I took a drive to the cape and had a blast just driving around. Granted in the direct vicinity there is not much around unless its Football Season and you can get tickets then you can go to a Patriots game. They have the cleanest park I have seen and the some of the nicest people.

My parents looked at some of the campgrounds around the cape and they looked really nice as well. It was nice seeing how close you are to the Cape. I forget the actual names of them but one was on the mainland right by one of the bridges and the other was on the outer part right after you got off the bridge.

Hope you have a great time where ever you choose to stay. Any questions feel free to ask I can find out from my folks. They are Chapter Presidents for a Local Good Sam club and travel a lot with their camper.

Normandy Farms is about 10 minutes from my house. We use to be seasonal campers there years ago. It is nice but definately a "resort".....you are almost on top of your neighbors!

I stayed at Bayview over 20 years ago, but from what I recall it was very nice. Looking to go this summer and rent their Prairie Schooner for a week.
