Sorry. It's diabetes that is insulin dependent. I'm diabetes 2 (pills) and I'm not high risk.

There are some Type 2 that take insulin.

Yes. My brother in-law. Is type 2. He is IDDM. Back in the day. They called type 2. Non IDDM. Some type 1 and type two requires insulin. Some don’t.

Basically, healthy means you have zero pre-existing conditions with some being far more problematic than others concerning COVID-19. But let’s restart the economy.

I looked at the stats for GA. They have a 20% case hospitalization rate and a case mortality rate about 3.73%. That’s not good.

no one but you said shame. Acknowledging past wrongs, admitting mistakes, acknowledging the ramifications of those wrongs and striving to not repeat them are good starts. Like acknowledging that we should have paid attention to the warnings in January and at a minimum ramped up production of needed supplies. Admitting that we missed that boat and as a result millions of people will at best be inconvienced and at worst get very sick and/or die. And striving to use data and the power the government has to assist those in need - medically, economically etc., - until this is behind us and we can start to resume normal life.

The sad thing about this is that the government has a team on staff, with a plan book for this situation but decided to fire that team and not go by their recommendations. We should all be angry about that. We should also be angry that companies like 3M are selling masks and other protective gear to the highest bidder(i.e. China) instead of selling them to our hospitals.

No. It used to be that way. I treat type one folks that are NON IDDM. As some type two that are. What you described is correct 10 years ago. The whole diabetes terms have changed greatly the last 5 years or so. Now it’s basically. IDDM or not. No type one vs type 2.
Almost all non IDDM. Can be treated with weight loss. And diet. Obviously. IDDM can only be treated with insulin. Preferably with a pump. That also self monitors

We aren’t even trained anymore using type one bs type two terminology. Haven’t been for almost 10 years.

Here In Ohio there is no shortage at any hospital or say city fire dept. We literally have Tons of masks and n100 filters. We won’t ever use them. Some Governors and or Mayors have done well. Some not. I’d say NY is in the not so well list. California is also well stocked. The President even commented back and forth to Newsome as to how well they have done. Good job on both ends.

It’s all about management. On the news today Bloomberg auctioned off thousands of ventilators for this exact purpose . California did not. They are fine. NY isn’t. It’s all about decisions made and I would say the current leaders of NY aren’t exactly capitalists.

It's both. But I think that most would agree that until ALL of our hospitals are stocked, they should not be selling them overseas.

Interesting - because the Ohio Gov. seems to disagree with your assessment and has requested more supplies from the federal reserve. Although they received several hundred thousand masks etc already from the federal supply, maybe that's the boxes you have. I could hazard a guess as to why their request was granted...

I think when all this ends. It will come out that some Governors prepared very well. Some did not. Either way. I’m just done with it. I feel so bad for those who want to go work but can’t.
