We also need to admit that the Federal Stockpile of needed supplies should have been replenished during the prior administration. Plenty of mistakes to go around.

But the current administration has been in power for over three years. Did they not see a glaring need for supplies and not address it? It’s not like they came to power last week.

Lol. I’m saying in EMS. The term type one bs type 2 is not and hasn’t been used for years. We use IDDM amd non IDDM. Hypoglycemia and hyper is treated the same in the field. In the ER. It’s also not referred to as type one bs type 2. I never said anyone was wrong. I said the medical community uses terms. And diabetes has became suck an issue. It’s more common to simply say. IDDM or non IDDM.

Well he did also state earlier in the thread that 60,000 people die each year from the flu, when in actuality 60,000 died one year during the last ten. And other years were as low as 12,000. The dangerous misinformation...

Yup. 20% of the NYPD is out sick today. Mass transit system in NYC has had to reduce the frequency of trains because they are short-staffed due to sick workers. This is with the current mitigation efforts. I wonder how many would be out sick if nothing was being done.

But this is another element that could be solved by testing. Detroit is having the same issues. One DPD officer tests positive and every officer in his precinct gets quarantined for observation. Most of them don't get sick and come back 14 days later, only to end up quarantined again the next time they're in contact with a confirmed positive. And over and over the cycle goes, until there are so many out that they abandon quarantine measures altogether. We know enough about this virus to know that at least some of those facing repeated rounds of quarantine likely contracted the virus but remained asymptomatic and have developed immunity. If we knew who fit that description, they could be allowed to continue working without interruptions and provide some much needed stability to a stressed system. But since we aren't testing for that, these officers are taken off the job every time they're exposed to a confirmed positive.

And this isn't just an issue for police. You could substitute "firefighter", "nurse", "grocery clerk", "janitor", "bus driver" or any other essential employee and the situation is the same. Not knowing who is immune maximizes the disruptive effect of the virus.

As far as I know the uncertainty goes beyond that. The last I heard medical experts have not identified a serology test that reveals the presence of Covid-19, nor do they have a definitive answer regarding a person's immunity status, or length of immunity if present.

I was just diagnosed a few years back and all the literature I got from our health authorities all said Diabetes 1 and 2.

I read medical charts all the time and have never seen IDDM and NIDDM. Looking online, those look like obsolete terms. Everything I've read says DM1 or DM2 (diabetes mellitus 1 or 2).

Here's the first sentence from that Mayo Clinic page:

"Type 1 diabetes, once known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. "

Sounds like that poster has it backwards--it used to be insulin dependent diabetes, but now is called Type 1. Idk--I've always heard type one or wayyy back in the day, juvenile diabetes.

There really isn’t type one or two anymore. That ended a few years ago. It’s all treated as type one now. Which is IDDM. Insulin dependent. This is because type 2 can be as bad as type one. Sadly a lot of diabetes is self induced.

Maybe you should inform the JDRF about this. They seem to be unaware. Oh, and the National Institute of Health, too. While you're at it, give the CDC a call, too.
