Anyone else NOT doing Black Friday??

It is better if I stay home and away from all the crowds. I cannot afford to get any type of germs or jabbed in the gut due to my transplant. I will enjoy a nice day at home, and maybe some internet shopping. I am now in the official stage of planning my Sept. 09 WDW trip.. yahool.... :goodvibes :woohoo:

I stayed home this year. Most of my shopping is already done and there really wasn't anything I saw to get me out.

To those who have never been, it really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. People are usually in a really festive mood and at least the people I come in contact with are really helpful and chatty. I have been going for over 20 years and have never had a fight with anyone or been mauled or injured in a black friday smack-down! The only thing I have ever done is froze to death! Waiting in the cold and dark is the worst part.

My mom, who is my Black Friday partner, is sick with a sinus infection. :headache: Somehow it just doesn't seem as fun without her, so I'm staying home and making a big breakfast for my DH and DD.

We were going to wait until Sunday to put the tree up, but maybe now we'll get it up today.:santa:

I've yet to do BF, but it is certainly not happening this year.\

Oh Goodness! I must have a turkey hangover. At first I read the BF in the above post as being Boy Friend. I thought it was kind of a personal post and wondered why it was on a thread about shopping!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh my, I read it the same way! :rotfl: :lmao: And I didn't even have any turkey yesterday, hmmm I guess my coffee hasn't kicked in yet. :rotfl:

Not doing it. In fact, I think I've only done it once or twice in my entire life.

I'd rather shop online.

Well it is 815am and I am home from shopping!! I got a bunch of good deals in Kohls and the entertainment of the day was at Walmart which always attracts an "interesting" type crowd there anyway- they have 2 sets of door going in, one had a line around the building with people waiting since midnight there. Me and a few other people decide to not wait on the line but to wait by the other doors with the understanding that they would not open our doors until the line was all in the store which was fine, I was not in a mad rush for anything that couldn't wait a few minutes. Well we could see straight through to where the other doors were, they opened them and oh my god did people take off running, they were pushing and shoving, one woman was knocked down and the security guard pulled her out of the way before she was trampled. Well that was interesting to watch and just the reason I decided to wait on the other side until they were all in LOL. OK- so now I am in the store picking up things for a chinese auction I am helping to run and by the jewelry counter 2 guys start fighting, one punches the other in the face, his nose is broken, bleeding all over, the cops come- oh brother. I can't even imagine WEARING walmart jewelry nevermind fighting over it LOL!! I rarely go to Walmart, its just not my thing, the people that shop at the one by me are interesting thats for sure.

I am not even tempted to do Black Friday. I'm gonna stay home and do laundry and start the Christmas decorating. If I go out at all it will only be to the grocery store. As far as spending, DH and I have decided that the last thing we need is more "stuff", so we are foregoing buying for each other and instead buying a new computer, which we do need. We will buy for DD and her BF (that's our whole family!).

My husband's little sister wanted to go but she didn't want to go alone. I told her that if she came to my side of town I would go with her (she lives an hour away). She never called so I don't know if she found a friend to go with her or she gave up. I have never been to a Black Friday and don't have any desire but I didn't want her to miss out.

No shopping for me either. I'm taking the kids out for breakfast. Then at some point we're going to start the Christmas decorations. DH has work so I'm not sure how many boxes I can drag up from the basement. My DS has a project to work on for school so I'm sure I'll be helping him with that today too.

No Black Friday for me either.
I went shopping on Black Friday for the first time ever last year and I'll never do it again. It's just not worth the hassel, crowds and traffic.I'll pay the little extra to buy gifts to have a peaceful, enjoyable shopping experience.

According to MSNBC, a Wal-Mart worker was killed by the crowd coming into the store when the doors first opened and customer miscarried due to being knocked down by other customers.

Never did, never will. I always am finished with my shopping way before Thanksgiving. That is of course unless DD14 finds something else she wants like today, but I just ordered the two items online.

Every other year, I've been one of those people who said I'd never ever in a million years do something like get up in the middle of the blasted night just to go shopping, but this year I wanted a Wii Fit, so I made an exception. Thankfully, the store I went to was nice and calm and small, with maybe 75 or so people in line tops. Got in, got my stuff, and got out. I'm debating stopping at 1 or 2 places tonight; that'll depend on the insanity I face on the commute home (whether or not I'll be sane enough to still deal with crowds afterward).

For about 10 years running I did black friday and loved it. Now I love sleep.

plus, I didn't see anything worth going out for, hubby has the start of a cold, so we are staying in..I am getting out Xmas decorations so we can have those all done by Sunday..that and turkey leftovers for dinner will be my excitement for the day!

The only shopping I'm going to be doing today is for my x-mas:santa: tree (a real one) and to the grocery store for some honey to put in my tea:surfweb:

I think the pregnant lady was fine.
From CNN
Four others were also hurt in the crush, including a 28-year-old pregnant woman. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors determined her baby was fine.
