Anyone else have a Disney Brick?

I bought one back when they were initially offered (1993/94??). During our following trips to WDW, I made it a point to stop by and see my brick. It always looked clean and neat - - in fact, one time I was really happy to see that it (along with probably all the others) had been repainted.

I was really saddened during my last visit to see the bricks. Although I did not see my own (it's located too close to the safety checks to be able to find it among the crowds passing through the security checks), I was disappointed to see many of the bricks with blobs of gum, chipped, dirty, and unpainted.

Makes me wonder if they have plans to keep these or not (I'm pretty sure the purchase agreement stated that Disney could move them at any time.....but not 100% sure).

Anyone else notice this?

I, also, have a brick..we purchased it in 1999 and it is at a great spot at the transportation center. Anyways, I don't recall anything stating that they can move them or not..or anything like that. I do know that they did guarantee them for 10 years, so if anything was to happen to them up to that point, they would replace it, after 10 years...you're outta luck.

Hmmm, the fact that they've fallen into disrepair makes me think they have plans to remove them. It's not like Disney to keep an eyesore like that.

However, if they're going to keep the bricks where they are, they should really remove the gum :sad2:

I am always amazed at how clean the bricks are. Maybe they hadn't cleaned where your brick was. I am in the park quite often.

I am glad that I am not the only one that checks the condition of my brick! My DH got for me as a wedding present. It will soon be 9 years old (our anniversary is 7/22, but I guess tha brick was layed a little before that).

As of last November, my brick was pretty good. I am on the way to the resort buses, up near the metal fences they out in to guide guests to the security check.

The original deal was that it is guareented for 10 years. DH thinks after that they will hit us up for more money.

Our brick is also near security check-points. There was a thread here recently about the fact that the original agreement was to guarantee them for 10 years, and our 10 years is about up. I've heard a lot of complaints about the condition of people's bricks. Guess we've been lucky-I check ours every trip, every year, and it's always in decent shape.

Ours is located as you exit the park, there is the second exit past the barrier on your way to the busses, almost under the Monorail. Somewhat near the advertising kiosk. Anyway, ours was in decent condition in Dec.

Our brick is in front of the transportation center and in fine shape as of last year when we saw it...

our brick just turned 10 and is the first brick when u go thru security on the left. it has seen it's better days but what do u expect after 10 years and how many millions of people have stepped on it. however our brick is still there and we kinda think it may stay just bc its sooooooo close to security it may effect checkings if it were to be removed and have the area refurbbed.

We were there when they first offered the bricks, but couldn't make up our minds, so we never got one. We've regretted that decision every time we pass the entrance to the Magic Kingdom.
DOH!

We had just moved to Central Florida and our best friends were down here from NJ. As we were leaving the Magic Kingdom, we saw the Brick Tent so we went over to find out what it was all about. Both families bought bricks and much to our delight they are adjacent to each other, and since it was only the second day they were sold to the general public, we are just 7 rows to the east of the large center-stone (granite stones) area.
I always thought it would be neat to build a web page of the bricks so those who were not fortunate enough to live here to have a cyberspace location to view their brick.

Ours is located at the Transportation center also. We actually take some cleaning spray with us and a rag and try to clean our brick everytime. We still plan on to frame our cert. they give with your brick location and picture of our kids through the years sitting by the brick. Our brick has seen better days though. Were doing a legacy tile on our next trip in a couple of weeks.

We have our brick since '94. It is at the base of the Express Mono ramp. It gets a lot of wear and tear.

One day we saw a man working in vicinity and asked him if he had planned on working over near ours soon. He said he was and asked where ours was. We showed him and he dressed it up. He said at that time (around '01) that he was the last cast to be assigned to the bricks. Sales were over. Installation was done. And he expected that things would "come to an end" for him as well. That was about the last time I remember our brick being cleaned. It's funny, we talked with him for about 45 mins. He told us not to expect much if any maintence in the future. The cost for upkeep was just too high. He was right. The bricks as a whole have really begun to look shabby. It really suprises me that they let them go like that.:sad1:

We get out there every other trip or so and clean ours. We look silly scrubbing a brick. But it's like our little piece of the Kingdom.

I've always felt too wierd to clean our brick. Its by the flagpoles at the TTC in a high-traffic area. Last September I noticed there was gum on it, and I tried to scrape it off, but it was only getting worse.

It will be interesting to see what it looks like on the next trip...

We have 2 of them. The first one is past the boat ramp to the Grand Floridian. Not much traffic there so it still looks pretty good.

The 2nd one was one of the 25th anniversary ones and is right in front of the TTC. It is the newer one but looks a lot worse.

Can't wait to visit them again!!

We have 2. We got one in 1993 to celebrate our wedding. It going to 11 years old. I am not sure if we got it in '93 though? HMMM? Maybe it is only 10 years? It is on beach area of the Poly. Very beautiful place to have a brick.
The other is to celebrate the birth of our DD in 1999. It is outside the TTC. I wish we could get one for DS.

I guess in some ways, we are lucky. We got our brick on our honeymoon and had our wedding date put on it (6-22-96). Our brick is probably NEVER stepped on....as it is on the walkway past the Monorail going towards the GF. For some reason, they never connected the walkway all the way around the lagoon, so unless you are just strolling or out looking for another brick, you wouldn't see it. We have made several little trips out to see the brick - I'm hoping it will last.

We have a brick too - with the names of my mom, dad, sister and I on it - my parents bought it before my sister and I were married. We go visit it every now and again. We know the vicinity it is in but it is hard to find it. It is in the same location that Mickeymule described. Near the exit toward the busses near the advertising kiosk (the place they used to sell the bricks).

I wish they would do something like this again in another area so we could own a little piece of the magic - those of us that want to remeber a special celebration.
