Anyone canceling at DVC resorts in Orlando due to Hurricane?

I wonder how many folks are deciding to change their Orlando-area DVC vacations... I'm near Daytona, and hoping I can get into a room for Thursday and Friday nights. We've not been told to evacuate, but my mom is a Hurricane Andrew survivor, and I sure would feel good about being able to scoot over there--60 miles further inland. Is anyone else considering a couple days wrapped in Mickey's arms to escape Hurricane Matthew? :)

I had reservations at VB starting friday. VB is evacuating today. I tried to get reservation at a WDW resort but they weren't accepting any new reservations through Friday. I am in Key West now and was able to extend my stay here. I was at WDW in 2004 for Hurricane Charlie. Would not want to relive that.

They are also relocating guests from the Treehouse villas and Polynesian bungalows and the Campground. Rooms will be very scarce.

Does anyone know how DVC handles weather-related cancellation? Would the points still go into a holding account if one cancels because of a hurricane bearing down on WDW or other natural disasters?

There are a few people onsite who cannot fly out looking to extend their stays as well

Disney have said they are taking no new bookings for the weekend in order to have space for those who were at Fort Wilderness, the Bungalows and displaced CMs. I believe this will apply to DVC as well, as they need as much space as they can free up.

They're moving anyone in Bungalows out of them.

I was just on the dvc website and saw availability at several of the resorts. A day here and there. I know they are moving folks out if fort wilderness, but they also will house cast members too to keep the resorts operating, so rooms will be held for those folks too.

Just saw on the DVC member site the announcement that Disney World (theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, miniature golf courses, Wide World of Sports) is closing by 5 p.m. today and will not be open tomorrow. MS shut down at 1:30.
