Armageddon itself, I believe, will not take place until after the 7 years of the Tribulation, so I don't believe it is around the corner.

my premise is that we are within the 7 years of the Tribulation. The foundations are being established during this 4-year reign, and upon re-election W will complete the evildoing scheme.
i know my thread is a bunch of paranoid hooey, but someone mentioned that there was all this talk during Reagan, and i remember the same talk under Bush I as well. Right now all this freaky stuff is happening, but nobody is talking about the possibility of rapture and the tribulation anymore, which lead me to think that a fabulous ruse is being executed. if nobody is talking about it, nobody is seeing it coming.

Also, I believe that the anti-christ will become popular/powerful, so to speak, following the Rapture.

if the anti-christ comes after the rapture, does that mean the living have a second chance at being saved? i need to brush up on Revelations, but it's all guess-work anyway.
goofy, I see what you are saying more clearly now. My personal beliefs are as follows:
I believe that the Rapture will occur before the 7 years of the Tribulation, based on Revelation 3:10 , which says, "Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth." Based on my beliefs about the end times, I believe that the Rapture and the Glorious Appearing of Christ are 2 different, distinct events. The Rapture does not involve Christ's return to earth, but does involve the living believers in Christ rising to heaven at the time of the Rapture. I believe that the 7 years of the Tribulation will then begin, and the anti-christ will rise to great power.
To answer your question about the second chance at salvation, yes, I do believe that those people who remain after the Rapture will be given the same chance to turn to Christ that we have today. I don't see it as a second chance in the sense that they will still have to take the salvation of Christ on faith, since I don't believe He will have returned to earth yet. However, I think that it will be a very difficult decision to come to Christ during the Tribulation, as I believe that the anti-christ will attempt to squelch Christianity. I also believe that eventually all people will be required to take the mark of the beast (anti-christ) in order to buy/sell and even survive. The Bible is clear that those who take this mark will not be saved, so I believe that it will be very difficult for those people to survive and that many who become believers during the Tribulation will die before its conclusion.
Following the 7 years of the Tribulation, I believe that Christ will return to earth in the Glorious Appearing. I believe that He will defeat the anti-christ, who at that time will have been indwelt by Satan, and throw him into a lake of fire and that Christ will begin what is known as the Millennial Reign of Christ, where He rules on the new earth for 1,000 years with all believers. Thus, I personally don't believe that we will enter the Tribulation without knowing it, as I believe that the Rapture will occur before the Tribulation begins.
I completely understand what you mean about Revelation being guesswork, as prophecies can be difficult to understand. Revelation is certainly complicated, and I don't pretend to have all the answers, I just wanted to explain my beliefs a little better in response to your question.
