Anybody Looked At Mousesavers This Morning

It sounds like this is great if you already have a trip planned and are waiting/hoping to save a little more. (been there, done that!)

I just think it isn't enough to cause most to run to phone and book a trip JUST BECAUSE of this discount. Which, I would assume, is Disney's hope! But, as I said, since the discount is potentially greater depending on the season or resort category I may be wrong.

I am a Value Resort gal--just give me a place to store my clothes, take a shower, and sleep. I spend every minute I can in the parks so that is why this just isn't enough for me.

Really interested to see how this turns out!

I have to agree - A $135 savings would not be enough for me to say Let's Go! Now Disney is affordable.

What am I not understanding? A package for 4 nights for 2 adults, junior and child is $999. The regular price for 6 nights is $1500....which is $250 per night. This package for 4 nights is $250 per night. Where's the discount? What am I not comprehending?
Normally, a 4-night package costs more per night than a 6-night package. So you're getting the "volume discount" without actually have to buy the larger package.

Wow, looks like things have been busy since I last checked the net at lunchtime. I agree that the hassle of changing over my AAA room only and prepaid 5 day MYW hoppers is not worth the "savings" or lack there of in having to buy the package deal that has been suggested. I think we will just keep what we have. But, for some folks that need a little push, good for them. Maggie

I completely agree with this calculation. Well done. :earboy2:

A 11% discount is not much at all for me. We're going during regular season, staying at deluxe, and have a AAA 10% discount right now which comes out to $170. And there are 3 adults and 1 jr. in our party which will affect that %. Then, to get this discount, would have to cancel and rebook (from what I understand?), not get the AAA $170 discount. And even though it would be more than 45 day, I would have to pay a $50 fee?? :confused3

After saying all that, when the details are announced, I will do a calculation and see what or even if the savings would be.

For all of those people who will take advantage of this discount - Great.

When I made our reservations I didn't even know about discounts, specials, codes. So had no expectations of saving more than the AAA. Then I discovered this board and other websites and read about the free dining special. That was a great special and I was able to inform my sister who had no knowledge and she was able to get it for Sept. and saved $800+!!! So there I am in July thrilled that I could save my sister all that money and starting to hope I would be as lucky. Then my hope was fed by threads on this board. In August people were writing about having the inside scoop about discounts and being told there is a very good chance of the free dining being extended. How there would be announcements made the end of August, around 8/26. Which never happened. So okay, fine. Win some, lose some. Still going to Disney!!! in Nov. :cheer2:

Then this latest thing... which sounded like it might be something BIG! Hey, I'll admit, I'm disappointed and have nobody but myself to blame.

BUT I am going to Disney! will forget all about this and have a wonderful time!!
:cloud9:

Now I "hope" I get my request for a tower room facing the MK :rotfl:

It may not seem like much of a deal to many of us since we all know the ins and outs of every Disney pricing possibility, but to the average Disney visitor, it may seem like a good deal.

To put that in perspective... Everyone that wants to go to Disney (Disney addict or not), knows that a trip to Disney is not cheap. They see the $1500 ads and this is still a substantial amount of money to some people... (Me too!)

NOW..... Disney throws a new deal into the mix that includes dates very close to the major holidays cokming up and a person can take her / his family to Walt Disney World for ALMOST a week (in their mind) for a GRAND. Actually a dollar less than a grand. I think it's pretty ingenius myself even though the discount won't save me that much. The average visitor, however, may believe it's the deal of a lifetime.

That being said.... I GUARANTEE if everyone that has already booked a room at rack (waiting for a discount) chose to NOT book their room already and Disney was sitting at a 10 or 20% occupancy expectation for the next three months, Disney would have one HECK of a deal starting Thursday that would be a blockbuster. (It probably would have started a long time ago!) This is a whole different subject, but I will never understand why people book a room months and months in advance and then complain because there are no discounts or very small ones. It's because 80% or more of the rooms are ALREADY BOOKED. :rotfl2:

Doesn't take a genius.... Supply and demand. Are people really that worried that they are NOT going to get a room at Disney if they don't book at rack rate months in advance? Other than three or four major holiday weeks a year, we could find availability within 4 weeks of arrival in almost every resort in many of the room type categories (WL standard rooms excluded).

Think about the 7/4 deal in 2003.... Attendance was still low after 9/11 and the economy was not doing too well.

Then in 2004, the deal went to a 7/5 because attendance was projected higher than 2004 and the economy was continuing to do better.

2005 has arrived and the only significant deal for the year was the free Dining plan to offset the low atttendance expectation during prime hurricane season.

Disney is no dummy. WE are because we all book our rooms so early. ;)

OK. I'm getting off my soapbox now.

Anyway... The discount will be smaller than in years past. I'll take what they offer and will be happy with it. Like lollipop mom said, $135 will buy a lot of mickey bars! :cool1:

Well stated. pirate:

Well, something is better then nothing. I am glad I didn't rely on this though ;)

of what this "discount" is going to be I am happy to go to Disney. From the beginning I only booked what we could afford so anything extra is great. But from the sounds of all the knowledgeable "number crunchers" on this and other boards I am not sure that this would actually help me alot because we already have AAA discount for 500.00+, I am happy with just that. Basically my AAA TA said there is a meeting tomorrow about upcoming specials and she will let me know if there is anything that will affect our package as soon as she can. I am happy with that. But it is kind of exciting to speculate and see what all the more knowledegable disneygoers think it would be!

Well, I must say I am personally disappointed at the suggested deal. Based on the buzz here and at Mousesavers, I was expecting something that would have me ready to pull the kids out of school for a few days in December. I think AAA can do better. No offense to Mary at Mousesavers (your site rocks), but this is hardly worth the weekend of buzz (I know you probably didn't intend for us all to get so excited)

I just did the math, and I'm saving over $615 with my AAA package (8 nights at the GF, 7 day Park Hoppers, Dining Plan). I don't think this Disney deal will come close to topping that. I'm so glad I booked with AAA now!

I've seen a few posts here where someone said that they booked a AAA discount + dining. Based on what AAA quoted me there wasn't any room discount when packaged with dining. It was the same price I could get direct from Disney. Is this not correct?

Also I read somewhere on this board that someone was able to get dining for $25/adult. How was this done? :confused3

I do see that $999 is a better deal for regular or holiday season, assuming they keep that as the low rate during those times. I am a pessimist and assume that "starting at $999" means than rate will be for the Value Season days and the price will be higher if you are doing Regular or Holiday. But maybe that is what makes it a big deal--$999 for the week before Christmas is a good deal.

it!

Except, I thought the resorts were pretty booked up for the holiday season? So then who would be able to use the deal??

Absolutely not true! AAA gave me a room discount plus dining. No discount on dining, or park tickets, but got room discount. Compared to same package I priced on Disney, AAA saved me $170+ for 4 nights at deluxe resort.

i must get the stupid AAA people cuz i called today and would save 20 bucks booking thru them

lol

I got a package with dining and AAA saved me $186 on 6 nights at CSR.

With AAA you have to KNOW your numbers and tell THEM if the discount is applied. My local agent kept telling me that her price included the AAA discount on the room portion of our package, and didn't believe me when I told her it was the same # I got when I booked online with WDW. I finally called AAA of Southern California ( I live in MAINE) and got an agent who quoted me the RIGHT price- over $200 less than the idiot here (who was also rude and nasty to me).

I think AAA also has a set number of rooms at a discounted price and once all the rooms for that hotel are gone, they start selling them at rack rate. I was trying to decide whether or not to buy a AAA membership and they have a hotel search engine on their travel section. At first all the values were coming up at a rate of $61.40 a nite for my dates (except pop which was slightly higher) but then a few weeks later I checked and AsMo was listed at $77 while the rest were still the lower price.

When we first booked with AAA I had her give me a few quotes on AKL and Poly to see if either would fit in my budget. Then later when DH decided that maybe it would be o.k to go aheah, we only live once attitude was the name of the day I called and the only thing left for my days was AKL Deluxe Savannah. It may have been our start date because there was more available when she quoted starting on 18th. I didn't want to change that because we still had to leave on the 23rd and dh did NOT want to split the stay soo... But all in all the mods seem to be available still!

VERY TRUE!! When I 1st called my local AAA, she quoted me the exact same price I pulled up on the Disney site. I told her this, so she said she'd check. She calls be back later & says, "Boy am I glad you said something. I forgot we got a new web addy to use. Here is your new quote..." Research pays!

I booked my room at POR through Disney, and they applied the 20% AAA discount. I didn't book a package, just room.
