Have any stay at home moms or dads applied for the Southwest airlines card?

I did. I actually called them and they told me to put in our household income - which surprised me, but hey...they said it was okay! I was approved right away.

House wife here. I honestly put I was unemployed when it asked and it asked for household income not individual income. I got the card in the mail yesterday.

Didn't apply for this one, but I did apply for the Continental card and was approved after telling them my individual income was $0. They also asked what our house payment was each month, which must be how they figured roughly what our household income was. --Katie

Where did you get your application? Unemployed isn't a choice on the one I have. Also, mine just says "Gross income." It doesn't specify household or individual.

Yes, I got one as a SAHM. I put in household income and was approved in seconds online.

I did it online through Southwest.com. I just looked and I must have chosen "homemaker" but I didn't think it was an option when I filled it out.

My mom has been a SAHM/grandma/volunteer since 1971 and she got one, no problem.

yes- I always find it amusing that technically my personal income is $0...yet I get approved......;)

Add me to the list. I did list homemaker and I applied online. I also put our household income. We find it funny. My DH and I received the exact same credit limit even though I technically have no income. I was super excited though. We now have enough points for our family of 4 to fly to WDW next summer. YEAH!!

I have a question. For those that are applying for the Southwest credit card, do you plan to close your account before the one year to avoid the annual fee? Or does the fee get charged in the beginning anyway? Because a $69 annual fee seems pretty high.

The fee gets charged in the first billing cycle, I believe. It's really early on. You can't cancel to get rid of it.

I applied last night. I chose homemaker as type of income. Then I put home in the required employer field. I put $0 as income. It doesn't specify personal or household income. I got an auto response that my application requires more evaluation. I haven't heard anything else yet....

I chose the premier card that has a $99 a year fee. When I called to activate it the phone rep confirmed that the fee would be on the first statement. $99 a year sounds high but I'll get 6,000 bonus point every year. With the $69 a year card you get 3,000 points a year. 6,000 points works out to $100 in airfare. 3,000 equals $50. I plan on keeping the card long term and not canceling as soon as I use up the 50,000 points.

Which "source of income" did you choose? Retired, homemaker, or other?

I did it last summer, so I dont remember the form all that well. I must have put homemaker though. I know I would not have put down retired as I am only 44. Within seconds I was approved.

Know what's even funnier? My credit limit on this card is $5,000 higher than DH's, even though I have $0 income. :rotfl:

For the rewards, $69 is very reasonable. And no, you can't avoid the fee. It's now being charged in the first billing cycle.
