Any Space 220 reviews?? Is it worth the money??

We went on Sunday for lunch. My husband ordered the Burrata and hated it. He actually sent it back. He said the salad tasted like straight vinegar. My brother got the calamari (it was very good) the peppers that come with it fried are jalapeños. It looked about 1/2 calamari and 1/2 peppers. I had the cauliflower. It was good, but seriously I can fry cauliflower and dip it in Buffalo sauce at home.
My husbands meal was the coffee rubbed steak. He didn’t like the rub (and he loves coffee) the potatoes tasted like a salt lick. My brother had the burger. He said it was good, but the potato wedges were still crunchy in the middle. I had the chicken. The chicken was the best dish. It was seasoned Incredibly well and tasted like Thanksgiving!
the Milky Way drink was very good. The blue drink that comes with pop rocks was horrible. It was thick and syrupy tasting.
They also added an 18% auto gratuity to our bill (3 people). It’s a good thing my husband checked because he already had cash out to give the waiter. I would have much rather spent my money anywhere else in Epcot. That was a one and done for us!

Well ... That is news to us we didn't check.. I think we double tipped. I thought they only did auto on party's of 6+. So the food was bad for us and they pretty much tugged at your coin purse way to much.. it's also a one and done for us. I am extremely disappointed in this place.

1,000% no!!! We went this week and
the food was HORRIBLE. We went for dinner, for apps we got the burrata (which was okay) and the buffalo cauliflower (tasted very strongly of salt and we do like our food salted). We thought okay maybe it was just that but then we ordered our entrees (DH got the Bone in rib eye for extra and I got the short ribs). Again tasted so strongly of salt we couldn’t even eat our entrees. Also the service is VERY slow. Our waiter barely checked on us and it took so long. We needed up taking our desserts to go bc we didn’t want to waste more time. I will say they did try to remedy the situation by discounting our bill but honestly it was still an insane amount for a terrible experience. If you want good food and don’t mind spending the money Cali grill did not disappoint! I will never dine at space 220 again. The ambiance was great, but my husband and I have been going to Disney for years, have eaten at a good amount of restaurants on property (expensive and not) and have never had food so bad or ever complained about our food. Maybe it was an off night? But honestly it was terrible!!!

Auto-gratuity is gross, because cash is always better to give a server. Credit card transaction fees can be taken out of the server's tips (!) instead of out of the restaurant's profits, which is sleazy as heck, especially if Disney is forcing guests to put gratuity on cards. Disney could save hundreds (maybe even thousands, due to pure volume) of dollars in CC transaction fees by forcing servers to only take cards, and therefore pay a % of those fees.

Cash means the server gets their tip same day, where as with tips on cards they have to wait until their next check. Plus, plenty of POS software calculate tips based on the TAXED TOTAL of your meal, which is not how tips is supposed to be calculated (unless you are particularly generous, which is fine too).

Sad to see so many bad reviews on a new restaurant. I would have thought they would be very careful to do everything correctly at the start.
Maybe I don't feel so bad that we couldn't get an ADR.

I think the ADR isn’t worth it. I do think the lounge is worth it as you get the cool elevator ride and the fun Drinks on the menu. You can also bypass the prix fix menu too and order a La carte as you like.

Looking forward to some reviews for Space 220! I got a dinner ADR but really wanted lunch. The lounge menu looked promising and cheaper way to go.
Certainly more reasonable than the cost of the dinner.

Ate lunch here today. One and done for us. I wanted to love it. Burrata was so cold (idk maybe that is normal) but it was not good and cauliflower was just ok. Steak was ok but small portion. Potatoes were just gross. Service was so slow but I didn't hold this against the server, still tipped 20%. My biggest complaint is that we were sat by stairs and atleast 20 guests came over to have their picture taken by the "space window". It's so rude that they allow that. So many of the servers took the pictures using the guests phones. They should have a dedicated area for this. I mentioned it to my server. I'm ok doing it once for the experience but at that price with mediocre food and service, we're done.

We were underwhelmed. The food was fine but we were expecting to be more wowed by the restaurant. Maybe in the future we’ll stop off for drinks and snacks? But would not return for dinner.

We loved it! Almost canceled due to bad reviews but glad we didn’t.

Apps-the only one we didn’t care for was the space greens. Boring lettuce drenched in dressing. But the Caesar was good, the calamari was perfectly cooked and only had 2-3 jalapeños with it, and the burratta was nice.

Entrees-we all had the filet mignon and it couldn’t have been more tender and perfectly cooked. Dipping the potato cake into the sauce was delish.

Desserts-we had sticky toffee pudding and chocolate cheesecake and really liked both.

The wine list is very good and kids liked the non alcoholic drinks. There was so much staff we never waited for anything.

Yes, it costs a lot, but it was our splurge and the kids enjoyed the atmosphere. Seems like the issue with this place is consistency. We had a fabulous meal and service and others did not. We’ve seen so many new CMs in training all over the property so maybe that’s the issue. The manager was on site when we were there and she was on top of everything.

We were there on October 15th for dinner. I don't remember exactly what everyone in my party had (6 of us), but I don't recall anyone having a serious problem with the food (and we're not the kind of people who hold back on the b!tchin')

I started with the burrata - the mozzarella was very good, if slightly underseasoned; the salad was a little bit bland. Then I got the crab-stuffed lobster upgrade - the crab stuffing and the cream sauce were excellent, but the lobster tail ends were definitely overcooked and rubbery. Dessert for me was the sticky toffee cake, which was excellent - easily the best toffee cake that I've ever had.

It may be kind of cheesy, but we loved the gimmicky space thing. Especially my BIL (40) and DD (3), who commented just about every time an astronaut would float by the screens. I think that their maturity levels must be similar, Lol!

I would probably go back. I do think that it's probably mildly overpriced for what you get, but the ambiance is good and very unique and the food is decent for a WDW restaurant.

To those who have actually tried to secure an ADR 60 days out... were you successful?

I don't want to waste those crucial minutes at 6 AM when I could be securing California Grill, etc.

We did the prix fixe with wine pairings at Cali Grill and absolutely loved it. The next day we did a standby wait for the lounge at Space 220 and got in with a 45-minute wait. DH and I each had a glass of wine and split the short rib sliders, which came with fries and was plenty for the two of us for lunch. We wouldn't go back unless it was with kids - in my opinion there isn't much in the way of space theming to interest most adults. I'm glad we went because there's no way I would waste precious minutes 60 days out trying to get a reservation.

The other thing I should mention is that I've heard the CMs are going through the standby line for the lounge first thing in the morning asking people if they would be interested in seeing restaurant availability for that same day. I didn't experience this personally. If it's true, it would explain why there are very few reservations popping up online after the initial 60 days. Sometimes odd things happen with new restaurants, so I don't know if this is something that will continue. Maybe it's due to staffing shortages - they don't want to commit to too many people far in advance.

In answer to your question, I started searching for reservations at 6 am on the day it opened, checked every day and set Touringplan reservation requests for both lunch and dinner for October 25. No success at all.

I was at 67 days out this morning (so 60+7) and had a choice of times for dinner. I didn't book it because I'm not interested. I saw it when I was scrolling down the list of restaurants.

I wanted to book Space 220 for my Dec trip. We are going for 5 nights - even as far as the last night there was no availability (so 60+5 days out). I have heard once you get to one week or more out, then availability opens up. So it depends on your length of trip.

If you are staying at a Disney resort for a week or more, and you check the last days of your stay when your window opens, you might have luck. I didn't with 3 days.

I hadn't heard this, but (I actually meant to include this point in my review a few posts up, but forgot) I did notice that only about 50-60% of the tables when we were there were actually occupied. I remember thinking how weird that was, considering that the ADR was very hard to come by - I had to use TP's Res Finder because nothing was available at any time that I looked.

Maybe you are right, they are trying to ensure that their new staff isn't overloaded, but the amount of table vacancy seemed a little excessive considering how many people are/were trying to book this place due to the hype.

We noticed the same thing with capacity. I wonder if they just don’t have adequate staff. There are labor shortages everywhere. In my area, virtually every restaurant is hiring for all positions.
