Any Space 220 reviews?? Is it worth the money??

I was able to get an ADR yesterday using an alert. Even though I was slow, 20 minutes, one was still available because there were 4 cancellations for the day I wanted.

Was there last week and had a great time - I feel like some of the negative reviews are because of how much time has passed and excitement built up for this place before it opened. Also with it being so difficult to get an ADR you ll naturally have expectations being that much higher.

I thought the food was very good especially for Disney and overall was one of the best experiences on property in terms of dining. All the CM’s were in character and very friendly which really added to the experience. One of the things I really appreciated, especially with everything going on with Disney right now, was we never felt rushed and felt our time there was valued. A little magic with a focus on the customer experience goes a long way.

The wife and I ate in the lounge about a week ago. We got on line just as lunch service was ending at about 3-3:15. According to the CM who checks in the ADRs and watches the lounge line they try to empty out the restaurant as much as possible when changing over from lunch to dinner service. We were told it would be about a 90 minute wait, but was only half that. We shared the calamari and the chicken on waffle and each had a drink. The calamari wasn't any better than what you can get at any average chain restaurant. The chicken on waffle was good, nothing... out of this world... but good. The "elevator" ride up and down was cool but the thrill of the atmosphere wore off on us pretty quick. It wasn't really worth the $100 for 2 apps and 2 drinks after tax and tip. We are glad we did it, but it's not something we would stress out about doing again.

Can you tell me how you got this ADR? I keep checking and they are never available!
I checked every morning for about 50 days lol. Got one about 10 days before our trip.

I kept checking even once we were on site bc I wanted to change the time, but a different day/time never came up.

We just returned home, and went to Space 220 on Halloween. I should have followed through with my intuition, and canceled. I have been waiting on Space to open for years so decided to try it. I have to say it was the most disappointing AND expensive meal we had all week. They are definitely charging to pay for the restaurant, and not quality of food. My husband commented on the atmosphere as soon as we were seated. He said it was exactly like Coral Reef, but in space with creepy music. I actually thought it looked neat, but I was not mind blown. We all ordered different entrees, desserts, and two different appetizers. I ordered the burrata and thought it was ok, but wish I would have tried out the cauliflower instead. My husband and son got the calamari. They said it tasted like "shoppers value seafood"...( I am a fan of store brand while grocery shopping, but not at a restaurant charging $79 per person.) I ordered the salmon and like most people have said it is SMOKY. The smell choked me and I had to force myself to eat it. My son had the snapper and he said it needed more flavor and was very bland. My husband had the filet and was extremely disappointed. He said it was the worst steak he has had at Disney. We all enjoyed the desserts, and each ordered a different one. I had the toffee cake, son had chocolate cake, and husband had the carrot cake. Not worth the price tag at ALL. If the food was better it could possibly be worth it, but until a menu change we will definitely not return.

With dinner being so expensive, a lunch ADR seems like a better idea. It's more affordable and you can still experience the restaurant without a long wait in the standby line.

Consensus I've heard is that the food is pretty good, but you're really paying for the experience. YMMV

A a non alcohol drink, a piece of mozzarella n lettuce and the salmon slice with bokchoy with the added side of Very Salty fingerlings .. per Denny puts you back $76. Without tip ( is there even tax?)
I loved the way she kept saying not a food review but at the same time said Very salty potatoes Several times, lol.
I enjoy her reviews and find them helpful.
I wouldn’t waste $200.+ On a lunch for my family which would likely be Much costlier with some cocktails n tip. Closer to $300.
don’t really see an experience, just a film float by
And ( sadly once again, salty) lunch food.
PASS
Thx for posting this.

My take away, don't get upset if you cannot snag a reservation. You just saved yourself a HUGE chunk of change.

Positive:
Service. Everyone working there we interacted with was an absolute pleasure. (Have to say the all of our servers on this last trip were phenomenal! Couldn't have asked for better!!)

Neutral:
Atmosphere. Glare off glass made it hard to see images at times. Was it a dealbreaker? No, but after looking for a few minutes it is what it is. It just gets boring. :duck:

Poor:
Food. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't horrific, but for the price ... major disappointment. Feels like they know you are going for the atmosphere only, and like I said that is neutral.

Our family of 3 take aways on dinner: (in order of favorite to least favorite)
Appetizers: Burrata, Tuna Tartare, Cauliflower. All fine, but nothing spectacular. Cauliflower biggest disappointment. Not hot (temperature wise) or crispy. Tasted like they sat for a while before serving.

Dinner: X2 Duck, Shortrib, Salmon. Again, all good nothing mind blowing. Temperature was still a factor as they were all just warm.

Dessert: Carrot Cake, Lemon Mousse, Sticky Toffee. Unbelievably, the winner was carrot cake. Very tasty! Lemon Mousse was tart and light, very nice. Sticky Toffee was the loser, again not warm cake.

Drinks:
Zero Proof ~ Moonrocks and Lemonade. $12 is hefty price tag for kids drinks. Moonrocks was fun for the popping factor of putting them in your mouth then taking a sip. We all tried it and it made the crazy price tag feel less of a rip off for the experience.

Alcohol ~ Punch, wow ... is it sweet. And I like sweet, but that was too sweet. Mine didn't smoke either. Bummer
Staragrita, not bad if you like tart. You'll definitely get better in Mexico.

Overall: one and done. Definitely not worth the price tag.

I think the ADR isn’t worth it. I do think the lounge is worth it as you get the cool elevator ride and the fun Drinks on the menu. You can also bypass the prix fix menu too and order a La carte as you like.
Can you walk in to do just the lounge?

You can’t just walk in. When we went in late October there was a standby line outside. When you get to the front of the line, the CM monitoring the line lets you in, where you get a “boarding pass” for the elevator. Then the restaurant host seats you in the bar area.

There’s no walking in and trying to get a place in the lounge the way some bars are set up. I think they don’t want people just taking the elevator, looking around and leaving. The standby wait was around 45 minutes for a party of two when we went. We thought it was cute but wouldn’t go back.

No.

Was there Wednesday. You get in line and you stay in line. Was a 1.5 hour wait. Folks asked if they could get text etc and were told no, you stand in line that is the only option. I mean why bother to offer that when there is always a line waiting to get in.

We went in to dine and no surprise the Lounge was PACKED and no one looked to be in any hurry.

Thanks. Based on reviews we dont want to eat there. Maybe just get a drink in the lounge

There is almost always a line unless you go at rope drop. Standby can take awhile, so worth checking at various times. I do recommend the drinks, the one with cotton candy makes for a great vid. The kids pop rocks drink is also very good.

Not worth it! A previous poster compared the atmosphere to Coral Reef and I agree.

The food was okay. Don't order the calamari unless you like it chewy, I don't. The lasagna was good but no bread service. I can't get past the no bread service. Lasagna and no bread??

And that is exactly what I did. Went from dinner to lunch on our reservations.

We just ate at Space 220 on October 31st. We had fabulous service. The food was very good (our family had the filet, the duck and the red snapper. Amazing all. The desserts were too pretty to eat and absolutely delicious. I always marvel at all the negative reviews....I am not that easily impressed, but found this to be a great experience and a great meal.
