Any Space 220 reviews?? Is it worth the money??

I’ll start by saying that I love his YouTube channel! But I don’t think I’ve ever seen him be negative about Disney sit down meals in general. He’s always positive which is one of the things I love about his channel…. but I always wonder about the food reviews because of it :rotfl2:

If you want to see someone eat to the point of discomfort and sweating, his channel is … great.

I also love him! And though he is very positive, I have seen him try things and not like it, and also get things and say he didn’t think it was a good value for the money. So I would think he is pretty fair.

I find the best part of video reviews is being able to see what the restaurant looks like. This one looks like a large windowless room where there are TV screens showing images from outer space. Everyone's taste for food is different so I don't find food reviews to be or any particular benefit. Disney has posted the lunch/dinner menus on their website so you can see what is offered and how much it costs. Being located near the front of the park, seems like they would get more business for dinner, but $79 seems pricey. Not sure how many people will walk back to the front of Epcot to eat a $55 lunch. I would imagine those just arriving around lunchtime will have already eaten elsewhere.

Going the 28th, plan to get to park around 1030, go right there and try to get VQ for about 230 after Remy. Fingers crossed.

Mr Morrow’s meal cost $97 plus tax and tip plus drink ( probably another $18). Crazy money for what’s on offer. They stuck a fancy fake lift in, some big screens, and upped usual Disney prices by one third. They also forced this fixed three course menu on us to increase margin, just like at Cali Grill now, and I anticipate this practise will now percolate further into the parks.

I think it would be worth it at least once. It looks like a really unique venue. Maybe trying the lounge first since it’s less expensive but you get the experience would be the best way to check it out…

I think the menu looks great, and I will definitely try this place the next time we go to WDW. Yes, it will be over $200 for myself and my husband, but the food looks wonderful and the atmosphere stunning.

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere - but does anyone know if you can order dessert at lunch for extra cost?

I was wondering this too. The Lunch menu on the Disney site doesn't list desserts, but there's a dessert menu with a la carte prices available on the restaurant's Patina Group website:

Someone just posted a review of lunch in an AP fb group, and confirmed that yes you can order dessert for extra cost at lunchtime. The carrot cake was $14.

My wife and I ate there yesterday for lunch. I had the salmon and she had the chicken. The smoke dome on my salmon was impressive, and it gave all components of the dish a faint but distinctive wood smoke flavor. I really liked it. The chicken was less impressive. 4 or 5 small rounds of white meat rolled around dark meat. It was moist enough but lacked seasoning. maybe some herbs rolled inside would have improved the dish. We are not big drinkers, so we just went with water. The non alcohol drinks were way to expensive. The atmosphere was pretty nice. views of "Earth" out 10 big "windows" was unique with cargo ships and satellites occasionally floating by. Service was fantastic and our waiter was great. Dessert was not included with lunch, but our waiter gave us a chocolate and caramel cake for no charge. the cake was amazing! $55 per person and we received a 10% discount for our annual passes. We will try it again sometime for dinner.

So, I am not a professional reviewer and this is super basic but I felt it could be useful. Today was my first park day and I had already planned for Epcot. Flight stuff made me late - by 11:45 (when I was getting into the line to look at reservations), they were only able to give out dinner ones. However, I was solo and the lounge sounded great (maybe even preferable) and they could get me in immediately.

From my perspective, as someone who was really keen on the idea of S220 for s while, doesn’t visit often, and isn’t especially flush with cash - it was fine. Meh. I went primarily to explore if I’d bring my kids when we come back; I absolutely would not. I honestly felt a little bored. I opted for a coupe of lift-offs and drinks (originally I planned to order the steak, something I almost never get to do as I, usually with the kids). But, given the temperature and what I wanted to do in the parks, I felt that would be too heavy.

Deviled eggs were great. I also had the chicken on waffle, which was very good; but/and, it was definitely way too heavy. And the thing I noticed, and shared when I was asked what u thought, was that the cole slaw (which was great) really made the waffle soggy very quickly. And the crisp waffle that was delivered was great. The soggy waffle that occurred 5 minutes in - I just stopped eating it.

Drinks were great (actually way exceeded my expectations). My server was great for the first week/during a pandemic. I knew way more about the place and menu from this board, unfortunately. Even when I pointed to the menu and asked for a drink without alcohol (I had one if each, eventually), she swore it had alcohol. But these things happen. It was really frustrating - when I went to pay, she took the card, etc and I could not spot her for 25 minutes (I wouldn’t have normally timed it - but I kept updating plans for rides, etc based on when I thought I’d be done). And I should say, this was after an exceptionally slow service for the whole meal. I actually felt bad because I thought they’d want to turn my table faster.

I’d say if you’re vaguely interested, try the lounge and if you like it, go back for the prix fixe. And I should say, I really, really wanted to like the concept. It was the very first thing I did at WDW this trip (even over my favorite rides, or new versions, etc). And it just didn’t stick the landing for me. Ymmv

So, I know this will sound weird but hear me out - I am afraid of fish (yep, very weird fear) and generally don’t like seafood. I would 100% recommend Coral Reef over Space 220.

Sorry if this has been covered - can you make a reservation for the lounge? Or is that a walk up? If walk up, how long have folks been waiting?

Ate there today. Was so excited for this reservation. I love space and as we walked in it was awesome.
Pro- very neat way to go to a restaurant
-Apps were good (calamari, tartar, cauliflower)

Now for the cons
-was sat at the window but near the end and all we got to watch was a random person floating every 10 min. The glare was really bad, you see all the lights and can't even see space unless you are looking where earth is.

-very loud, the place wasn't even full and it was just a giant cafe and so loud. Seemed on point with a qs type eating area

- my family got the flat iron steak, seared tuna, and salmon.

My son's salmon plate was almost inedible and he loves all foods. He had the tartar for an ap to compare. The mushrooms were gelatinous his bak choy was rubber and the sauce had no taste.

My husband got the seared tuna and he said it had little flavor and that the fish was not a good cut.

I got the steak, it had no coffee flavor it only had a heavy pepper flavor. It was cooked decent but the portion for money was tiny. Maybe 4oz. The potatos were rolled in salt befor hitting the table.

All in all not worth the price.. we ate at many other places this trip for half the cost and much better food. I was so excited for this and it was such a let down :(

Tldr: food was not good, view is limited if seated on sides and very noisy.

Based on all the reports across social media I thought the food would be bad or something. But it was all totally fine lol. Not nearly as good as Le Cellier, Takumi Tei, etc. But definitely better than Coral Reef, San Angel(no matter which one), Akershus, the new Crepes place, Nine Dragons, Biergarten, etc. Heck, tbh, our meal was better than the last 2 times at Chef's de France.

Just goes to show that things are not consistent i suppose. But I can only speak for our group. I've definitely done worse at Epcot from a food perspective.

None of us got drinks.

To start with appetizers, we got the Burrata salad, Grain mushroom Salad, Tuna, and the tempura Cauliflower. The tuna was the only one that got a "Meh" reaction. It was just okay and not strongly flavored.
We also got an sunflower seed allergy sensitive burrata salad for someone else that they enjoyed(sorry, forgot to photo that one), but it essentially just replaced the romesco as the difference.
Everything else was pretty popular (even the mushroom salad surprisingly) with the cauliflower being the standout favorite at the table. 612882612883612884612885

Next for dinner 2 ppl got the Filet abd one person got it with a lobster add on(they actually gave a lot of lobster) and the other person got brussel sprouts on the side, we got the short rib, and we got the Red Snapper.

The Filet was cooked perfectly (we both got medium rare) and the sides were good. Honestly could not ask them to do the the filet better from an execution standpoint. The sides it came with were good but nothing special. But again, good. The extra brussel sprouts were good and the lobster addition was simple yet great and plentiful.612887

The short rib was cooked very well and the flavor profile went well with the sides of grits. Again, nothing unique here. But executed properly and tasted good.

The snapper was a surprise hit. This was probably the most popular entrée at the table. Again, not unique, but it was really good.612890

Finally, we got basically every dessert besides the ice cream. They all were ok, but the plant based carrot cake was the clear favorite.612891612894

To be honest, we had a great time. Staff was great, did not feel rushed, food was good, atmosphere was really cool.

Only criticism is the menu could be more creative and risky. Make me want to come back specifically for the food alone(the cauliflower actually qualifies for this, so excited about the lounge)

We would readily do this again, though only occasionally. Its not a place I see myself doing the full dinner at every trip to epcot or anything. But I'd rather do this than a fair amount of places in the park.
