Any rumors of a new DVC resort?

I may be forgetting, but aren't there only something like 50 lockoffs at GCV? I'm not surprised they are in high demand...perhaps they underestimated the draw some DVC units would have in luring us right-coasters over to the left?

Any idea how many rooms would be added in a DLH tower?

Just recently it was announced that the "3rd gate" location would be reallocated for parking, and from what I read in the article they can simply use it as parking for the next 12 years before they are required to develop or something like that.

There are 2 GVs, 23 dedicated 2 br and 23 2 br lock offs, so technically there could be 71 units if the locks offs are booked separately as studios and 1 brs. I know all of our stays there will just be two of us, so we either get the studio or 1 br.

MGM couldn't make a go out of their park, yet if DCL decided to do a off strip, non-casino hotel w/a couple of the standard rides already in the park & perhaps a waterpark (maybe indoor?) i'd think it'd be a great success.

Naturally, they'd have to offer onsite daycareso parents could sneak off to casino or show for a few hours.

YES!! I heard rumors that one is going in on Bay Lake, It's going to look like a cruise ship. I got this "info". from a bus driver who said he was retiring JULY 4th.,been driving a bus at WDW since 1970. ...............For give me, I just had to give out this important information.

Now, you know what... that would make for a very interesting value resort theme. I think one could really do something with that idea. Though, I'm with Deb... No more now (DVC or not). The beach resorts are really getting hard to get with all the new membership. Next resort should be GA or SC coast, but years away.

I'm not sure about the risk.

I will say that the Retirement Systems of Alabama loves to invest/partner with great money making ventures that is good for the economic development of the state.

I'm more concerned about the amount of OVER development on the gulf coast. Maybe they could build on Dauphin Island.

HGTV gave away a $1M house in Mexico Beach, FL. a few years ago. It looked like it was in a very serene non-commercial area.

The gulf coast would also be great stop overs for people traveling from Tx., La, and Ms. as well as those that go through Alabama from the North. A lot of people vacation on the gulf coast from Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, etc.

Plus, I think there would be a good market for the timeshare sales of these units.

As a resident of the Gulf Coast I would advise DVC stay in Florida or Orange Beach. The water and sand are beautiful there. In MS and LA our water is not as clear due to the Barrier Islands. That is why Biloxi nd New Orleans are par-tay cities with casinos and plenty of alcohol Now for the Villas at Coastal Haven DVC Resort you could do day trips to Biloxi and New Orleans for a nice charge to the membership. Give us 5 more years to recover and build over here and we will be ready for ya'll.

You know there's a thought in there.

Some folks want Vega$, while others don't want what Vega$ has to offer. Others want the gulf coast. How about a resort in Alabama that is convenient to Biloxi and New Orleans.

The casinos can pay for the shuttle busses. It shouldn't come out of the dues.

I wonder if anyone from DVC is reading this thread.

I think that Disney would probably best fit in off of 30-A in South Walton near Rosemary Beach/Seaside/Seagrove/Watercolor/Grayton Beach area (BTW, if you don't know about this area, if you have ever seen The Truman Show, it was filmed in Seaside, FL), although anything from that area through the Destin/Fort Walton/Navarre/Pensacola Beach/Orange Beach/Gulf Shores stretch would be IMHO a good stop as it wouldn't be any more off of I-10 as HHI is off of I-95.

to each their own, vegas could be yucky if u picked the wrong hotel or area in which to bunk (just as in Orlando or NYC, most urban areas).

many of the strip hotels are amazing & self-contained resorts to the point where you'd never need to step foot on the strip if it's not ur thing . loews has an exclusive offsite resort (bit too far offsite for my tastes) yet def family friendly in vibe.

vegas isn't all honky tonk, u just need to be selective. disney luvs to keep guests on property, a gated enclave (to keep the family entertained) & the option to bolt over the wall to sin city (he-he) would make many of the non-fervent DVC spouses oh-so-happy.

It's also very do-able to hop a short flight to SNA & vist DLfor a split trip of sorts.

I would love to see a DVC resort in the Caribbean, that would let you combine a short DCL cruise with a great resort stay. Disney seems to have good luck with booking the land and sea packages already....
