Any rumors of a new DVC resort?

Heard about the new DVC resort. It will be called Bay Vista. It will be an elevated resort in the middle of Bay Lake, it will be 30' above the surface of the water to allow small craft to pass under it. It will be resort exclusive to owners, their guests and cash paying customers (at a HUGE premium).

To enter/exit the resort, you take a helicopter that will run on a regular basis from 8 am until midnight. If you wish to leave between midnight and 8 am, there will be boat transportation provided. From within the resort, you will take a monorail directly to TTA, the MK or Epcot. This will be a new monorail, exclusive to Bay Vista. At TTA you will be shuttled to AK and HS on the DVC vans. No buses for this resort.

To enter the monorail you must have your room key. This will prevent the "riff-raff everyday DVC members" from taking space on the monorail, at the restaurants or crowds in the gift shops.

Since this will be a Club Level resort, there will not be a QS restaurant, as there will be enough snacks provided for an ample breakfast and/or lunch. There will not be dinner snack service, however there will be desert snack service during Wishes, that includes a wine service.

When buying a "real estate interest" in Bay Vista, you will qualify for a $10 discount per point or a 5 night cruise if you are a founding member and purchase 500 points. To be a founding member, you must first purchase 500 points at Grand Californian or BLT. Cost per point will be somewhere between $350 and $500, to be determined in the near future.

We regret to inform you that this resort will only have a roof top pool, as we do not want any alligators to enter the pool area.;)

(ok, so I'm more than a little whacked.)

SunnieRN - WOW - now that's an imagination!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

On a more serious note.............. I'd just like for DVC members to be able to use points at the Poly or GF - rather than build new resorts - of course the points would have to be reflective of the amenities we wouldn't get - I know, I know............ I'm dreaming..................... :rolleyes1

And dues there will be $75 a point.

Now imagine if the resort were actually partially submerged...the first underwater resort in the world!!! But when your window starts to leak, watch out! Simple repairs will run $10k or more...

I haven't been hearing much for rumors more so than wishful thinking, like Poly and GF, etc. A second BLT I think is coming more from people who think the symmetry of CR is all off now :)

If they were looking international, two years ago I would have said Dubai would have a high likelyhood. Now I'm not sure anyone wants to invest there...

How about something at the international parks? DVC supposedly had plans in Paris, but abandoned them like so many others...

DVC could have some part of the DC project...

There are rumors that the Four Seasons could fall apart...maybe Eagle Pines will be resurrected?

I've generally said that DVD, to continue making money, needs to keep building so they can keep selling. And they need to build ahead of sales. If they get close to selling out what they have now, they need to be ready to sell the next one...Aulani will obviously tide them over for a bit, but once sales begin they need to be thinking and getting close to starting something...

..with the increase in BWV/BCV prices direct through Disney, DVC may be either considering a more active resale of older resorts and/or offer BCV/BWV extensions or a BCV expansion (wonder how many points they could charge for a BCV lake view?) and/or add DVC to the Yacht club....

Would not be the first underwater resort in the world.

We are hearing things about the fact that Garden Walk in Anaheim is now bank owned, and no one showed up to bid on it at auction. That and that WOC, and the billion dollar makeover of DCA is already filling up the 50 units at VGC. Garden Walk was supposed to have timeshares, and Disney was reported to have been interested in leasing one of the hotels. The small talk centers on Disney snapping up Garden Walk at a bargain basement price.
Disney is also reportedly buying available property near Disneyland. They have already had to add another parking lot on property they already owned, and set up a bus shuttle service to the parks. Basically everyone out here just assumes Disney will add a second DVC at some point. It's just a matter of when. Rumors that a DVC is already planned for the Disneyland Hotel now under major rehab.
Don't forget the Disney Cruise Line is basing a ship out here for the long term. With Mexico, and Alaska cruises already being booked, most think Hawaii is on the corporate wish list. What better jumping off point for a trip, or cruise to Aulani than from a stay at your DVC in Anaheim?

One thing I doing get is if Disney is really interested in Gardenwalk, why didn't they bid on it at that auction couple weeks ago? OR is it better deal if they wait and buy it from the bank later?
Don't forget the new Toystory parking lot is the future site of the third park. So many thounsands of people interested in buying time share in WDW (current DVC members), I can't imagine there aren't enough potential buys in the west coast to support more DLR DVC resorts if they successfully turn DLR into a multi-days vacation destination.

I think that both GCV and Aulani (What, no acronym for that, yet?) are evidence that DVC is angling to expand their market to the West. Currently, a high proportion of member are based in the East Coast. Let's face it, Aulani in particular appeals more to those on the West Coast or even Japan and the Pacific Rim - just due to the airfare.

I do wonder if there is something of an "optimal" ratio of off-property:on-property rooms. After all, from a sheer math standpoint, every resort they build off-property will make it more difficult to book ANY on-property resort at the 7-month mark. Because, let's face it, what's the point of buying into ANY DVC resort if not for the option of going to WDW at least now and then. So presume that owners at VB, HHI, and now Aulani are going to want to use those points at WDW at least once every 5 years or so. If more resorts go up off property, at what point does it become nearly impossible to do so? Just sort of thinking "out loud."

I've also heard it mentioned that there is room on the Epcot monorail line for more resorts. Being fairly addicted to convenience in location, I find this idea very appealing - but I wonder how practical. After all, it WOULD add to the travel time from the TTC to Epcot if it stopped in a resort first. And I really don't have a good enough head for geography or geology to know if it's even true that room was left for such a project. Or two.

I do think that after SSR, AKV, and BLT it's clear that another on property resort has to be either fabulously themed enough to be nearly an attraction unto itself, or located in such a way to make it desirable for THAT reason. Something ON the Epcot loop that had a view of illuminations WOULD be pretty impressive...

Oh, and the hubs votes for one hear DHS that has a 30s/40s Hollywood theme. ;-) A real, Hollywood Tower, if you will. I keep telling him he's the only one who'd sleep there.

I wonder if DVC would consider taking over the unfinished legendary years section ay Pop Century. I know DVC Resorts are Deluxe resorts, but this would be a way to tap into $ from those who currently can't afford a 160 point package. Maybe 80-100 point starting packages. This may be a good way for many families to start with DVC as opposed to resale.
It's a shame that the buildings have sat dormant for 8 years or so. They originally were to be Family suites for Pop century.

The problem is you'd have a lot of demand from people with 80-100 points at the non-Deluxe Pop to stay at the Deluxe resorts, and probably not much of a demand from those of us with points in the Deluxe resorts to stay in the Pop.

I doubt it - the size of the values means they're able to put an awful lot of people into those buildings. Think about it - it isn't uncommon during busy periods when the values are full for them to upgrade people to DVC so they can bring in more value customers. If they weren't doing pretty well on value accommodations, I don't think they'd be doing that.

I think when the economy improves, you'll see them finished and turned into more value rooms, or perhaps more family suites. (I didn't think they were intended for that - thought they were all the same type rooms - doesn't make much sense to me that they'd have planned the resort to have family suites only on one half. I could be wrong about that, but it doesn't make sense to me.)

I"ve also heard from a couple different people that a 4th tower would be built by the DLH after the first three are renovated. With the money being spent at DCA, the always there rumor of a 3rd park, now Hawaii and a cruise ship, its time to expand the west coast.

I would love to see them build in New England, perhaps partnering with LL Bean when they develop their timeshare/outdoor park. Vermont or new hamphshire would be nice also. We are visiting all three states in July and I am notvlooking forward to paying for a room that does not have my DVC amenities.

When we checked into the VGC last weekend our bellman was full of rumors that he wanted to spread, all of which seemed pretty feasible. He was spot on about the WoC testing that would go on all night. Also he said that the CMs had already been briefed about the tower that would go in at the DLH and it would be all DVC. Evidently the VGC units are selling quite well. From what I understand they are in the final phase of selling and they opened up the sales in, what March of 2009? From what I read here on the boards, people are saying it is almost impossible to get a reservation at 7 mos or less (though I've had good luck). He said though that because of the Cars Land Construction and the WoC being behind schedule, they put the tower on hold and don't have a new date for breaking ground.
