Any recent users of "old" tickets?

From what I have been reading, it is better to use older tickets for admission than trade them in towards new ones, as apparently you only get credit for the original price of the ticket. Has anyone used older tickets recently? If so, how do they handle parks not mentioned on the older tickets? Are they only good at the parks listed on them? I have some from the late 80's which only list EPCOT and MK, and some from the early/mid 90's which naturally lack AK. So would none of these gain admission to AK? Would the EPCOT/MK ones only allow entry and hopping to those two parks? In addition, some were children tickets which are no longer needed as such. Can an adult somehow make use of them? Thanks for any insights.

I forgot to add, how do you obtain fastpass tickets when using these old paper tickets? Thanks again!

You find a CM who will override the system.

Perhaps this will answer your questions.

Thanks for your help. That answered a lot of my questions. But of course I thought of a new one! If you upgrade the old tickets to the new strip media, do you get to keep the old punch tickets? They have some sentimental value.

Thanks again!

We did this with some tickets from the late 80's when we were at WDW 2 weeks ago. The ones we used we'd bought for my sons who'd been children then, but certainly aren't now (both are over 20 yo). The passes weren't even signed since the boys couldn't really write back then. However, generally they just went to the gate and got in at Epcot and MGM. MK was the only place where they received a bit of a hard time (not really), told they'd have to go to guest services to upgrade the passes first. Since there was a line, they just took out the tickets that they'd already bought for this trip before I found these old passes. As far as FP, they didn't ever try to use it, however, when I went a few years ago with a pass from 1987, I did just find a CM at the FP kiosks who would override the system and print me out a FP. And we'd already planned our days to only go into the parks in existence in the late 80's on the days we used those tickets so I'm afraid I don't know what would happen there either. But even I was amazed that no one ever questioned my 6ft4" son using a children's pass from 1987!
