Hi
Just found this thread a few days ago and thought I would reply. My name is Crista (33 as of 5/28 same bday as beckmrk04!) my DH is 31 and we have been TTC for about a year. I don't have regular periods (about 3 or 4 a year) so I went to a new Dr in March for blood work. I was diaganosed with PCOS. The day I went it was her last day at that office but I really liked her and wanted to continue with her so just went in yesterday May 30th for a full physical now that she has moved into her new office.
She had me take Provera the beginning of May so that if it worked I would have a period before my appointment yesterday. Boy did it work. I had a very heavy period for 7 days!!! I actually didn't mind since I was glad the Provera worked (never in my life would I think I would be happy to see AF) Yesterday when I saw her she couldn't stop laughing about it. She said I am surprised you came back after enduring that. LOL During my physical she had a hard time examing my uterus since I am so far tilted. So she scheduled me for a pelvic ultrasound for later in the day at another office. I have never had an ultrasound before but she told me I had to drink 32oz of water 1 1/2 hours before my appointment. That was a lot of water to drink at once since I usually just sip fluids during the day and don't drink a lot all at once.
So I leave for the ultrasound and there is no way I am going to make it I have to pee so bad. Then as I am driving I just keep thinking I am strong I can do this but all I can think about is Niagra falls. So I make it there ok and have to give the receptionist all my info so that took my mind off it for awhile. Then the receptionist takes me back into the 2nd smaller waiting room and wouldn't you know there's the restroom right there with the door open. So I take a seat and I have a perfect view of the toilet. At this point I think I can't hold it any longer this is pure torture. After 20 minutes the Dr finally comes to get me. (Note to self: if I ever have to drink water again and not void it remember to tack on 30 minutes of office waiting time) So the Dr starts the ultrasound where they put gel on your stomach I start watching the screen and it takes my mind off my full bladder. So after about 15 min he tells me I can go use the restroom. I made it!!!! and was I ever so relieved!!! He then did a vag. ultrasound as well. I go back on June 9th to have a 2 hour glucose test.
My doctor really wants me to lose about 30 lbs first so that I don't develop diabetes during the pregnancy. So I went home threw out all the junk food and went to the grocery store bought all healthy stuff and worked out on the elipitical for 30 minutes. I want to have a baby so bad but I want to be in good health and eating better so I hope that by Oct/Nov we can start trying again. My DH is very supportive he is going to keep me on track and we set up a spreadsheet to chart exercise, calories etc and he is going to be eating better right along with me.
My Dr thinks that by losing the weight it will help me to ovulate since I am not doing it on my own now and she said that she could prescribe clomid for me now and that she thinks I would get pregnant easily but recommends that I wait and lose the weight first and she thinks it will cause my body to start working correctly on it's own.
I have more hope now after my appointment yesterday that I can actually get pregnant as I was starting to get really depressed that it hadn't happened yet. Anyway I am glad to have found this thread as I have learned a few things and wish everyone luck on their journey.
