My washer doesn't work well and my dryer just died. It will not turn on and the circuit breaker was not tripped and everything is connected in the front... DH is now inspecting the back. Any suggestions? For some reason we have to replace these darn machines every 4-5 years. That doesn't seem normal to me...:(

Good luck with this, I'm not a Kenmore repair person.

I wish I could help you. My washer gave out about 3 weeks ago, we called a local appliance company and were only charged about $64 to fix it. SOme plastic piece called a coupoler had broken that kept it from spinning. I think my dryer is next, as it does not dry all the way for some loads. I hope it does not cost you too much to fix.

Didn't fix the piece of garbage Kenmore (I am not recommending them) But just went and bought a new washer and dryer by Whirlpool. They are front loading!!! Oh the joy and excitment of washing clothes for me now. I wonder if they are self loading and folding and put away?!

New problem though. Two sweet girls colored with color pencils on their bed frames. How to remove?

WooHoo new washer and dryer. For the colored pencils, try Mr. Clean magic erasers.

I guess I shouldn't tell you that most kenmore washers and dryers are made by Whirlpool then, huh? :) All of the Kenmore appliances are made by other major brands, which is why you need to judge them individually and not as a whole. And no, replacing them every 4-5 years is NOT normal, my MIL is still running her 15 year old Kenmore washer and dryer and my parents were until they moved and left their old appliances with their old house. Sounds like you got some serious duds :(

Guess it's too late now but you could have had Sears come out and look at it and if you didn't want to spend what it cost to fix it you could apply the service charge to the new appliance. Sears now sells many brand names besides Kenmore. And as Lisa has pointed out, Kenmore appliances are made by other major companies.

I'm on my second set of Kenmore washer/dryer. First set lasted nearly 20 years. Second set is 9 years old. Sorry you got lemons but glad you've got a brand spanking new set and hope they last you many, many years. :)
