Any chance at December reservations?

We recently just passed ROFR and still probably have a good month til we can book anything. Any chance we can get anything Dec. 15-22, maybe a studio for sat-sun and then 1br mon-thurs? We have Port Orleans Riverside booked for the weekend and an offsite condo booked the rest of the week, but would rather use points since we would have them. First time DVC members and this trip will be our first time staying onsite!!!

There is VERY minimal Studio and 1BR availability left for that time frame.

Yea that's what we had thought. I have heard some openings come available a little more than a month away since people can cancel at that point and not have their points go into holding. Any truth to that?

Not really. In theory, the waitlist is going to catch most cancellations for that period, and anything that comes available will be a real hodgepodge of units and resorts.

I would plan to keep what you have, but of course, check!!

Because of illness in family, we changed plans last December, and we were able to get something for 4-5 nights at SSR.

Added on, closed end of June, points burning hole in my pocket . Was shocked to find 6 nights in a preferred studio @ SSR starting the saturday after thanksgiving.

When you close, waitlist 2 less popular choices and keep checking the member website. Be careful of your banking window though

If nothing else, you can bank the points and have a nice stash for next trip!

60 days prior to any given check in date, Disney can take DVC rooms and transfer them to their reservation inventory for cash guests. That can have a negative impact that is difficult to identify.
