Another view on FP+

Can someone point me in the direction of the fb group that shows the haunted mansion line. I tried to find it but couldn't.

Thanks

Thousands of offsite guests who used to be forced to wait until the day of to make their FP+ reservations will soon have the ability to reserve at the 30 day mark. This will certainly affect availability, with popular rides likely running out before the day of.

Anyone wanna start a pool on what day TSMM will run out ???

TSMM, pfffft, old news :upsidedow. I wanna see when 7DMT and Anna and Elsa run out!

People will wake up at 2 AM daily to get their hands on Elsa dresses, they'll wait hours and hours in line to meet them, those FP are going to go fast once everyone can get them.

The Mine Train is being hyped up like it's Disney's answer to everything HP at the other park. Those should go pretty fast too.

How can you say it is taking so long to make changes?

If you take a step back and look at all of the changes that have taken place over the last 6 months, the whole process is moving pretty quickly (at least in my opinion). The FP machines have only been out of all of the parks for a little over 2 months.

With today's announcement that offsite guests with tickets will be able to make FP+ reservations 30 days in advance, one of the last major parts of the transition will be in place soon.

Once that is done, Disney can start to focus on the things like number of FP's, allowing FP in more than one park, etc. I expect that the ability to make FP+ reservations in more than one park will be one of the first things to be added, and the ability to get additional same day FPs should be coming too. The surveys Disney has been taking should give us a clue as to the options they are considering for this. Once most offsite guests are able to make FP+ reservations in advance, the lines at the in park kiosks should be reduced dramatically.

If people are waiting for tiers to be eliminated at Epcot or DHS or for the ability to make more than one advance FP reservation for the same ride, they are probably in for a long wait. The current capacity for the top 2 attractions at those parks mandates these restrictions to ensure that almost everyone can get at least one FP for one of them.
~Great post! That's interesting about the tiers. I totally understand why they're needed but there is a slight chance that Disney may remove them -- either way I'm okay with it as long as I am using FP+! :goodvibes

Disney has disclosed in shareholder meetings that more people are getting Fastpass than ever before. That probably means that a greater percentage of people are now spending less time waiting in line. I would imagine that directly correlates to a larger number of happy guests. Sure, some guests who used to get 8 FPs in a day now only get 3, but there are likely even more guests who finally get a FP and are happier than they used to be.

I also know that Disney runs a calculation each day to see how many attractions guests should be able to ride over a small time period during the day. They extend park hours if you can't reasonably hit that number (not sure what it is, I think 8?). This happens fairly often (in fact, this just happened today). So I don't know if I really buy the argument that a lot of people are making on this forum about not being able to ride everything. I think a lot of people are (justifiably) upset that they finally may have to wait in line for something now.
~Fabulous post! I totally agree with this. It totally cracks me up how people are literally staring all day at pictures of lines on the internet. I really don't get it, lol. :lmao:

~I would rather be in a long fast moving line than a short stagnant line. I was at Whole Foods and I had less than 10 items so I started to walk toward the express line. Well, this awful woman cut me off and there were already 2 people in that line -- so I just got into the normal checkout line with about 4 people ahead of me. So, by the time I reach the checkout the all the same people where still standing there in the express line. The woman that cut me off was standing there making a dreadful scene about the slow moving line as I was walking out the door. I felt so bad for the cashier that had to deal with her. :(

~I had some friends and colleagues that went to Disney World for spring break a couple of weeks ago and all of them said there were lines, but they all moved very quickly and everyone had a blast! A few of them are so finicky about everything but they had nothing but great things to say about their vacation at Disney!

Not quite sure I follow. I know that the FP+ return lines have gotten long because of the new "MagicBand checkin" process, but they haven't changed the number of actual FPs they issue over each time segment. Just the maximum number that an individual can use in one day. I imagine that they will find a way to really speed up the system in the next few months.
~Very well said! Disney has been adamant that they will continue to make improvements to this system and that it is still in testing. So, I have no reason to doubt Disney. I need a vacation so bad, so I can't wait to get back to WDW! And, omg.... the mine train looks fabulous! :cool1:

Disney has disclosed in shareholder meetings that more people are getting Fastpass than ever before.

There are more attractions with FastPass now - even attractions for which FP was not needed in the first place.

The one time we had to wait in a line like that for a FP during Christmas week (at Space Mountain) it took about 5 minutes.

Not to be confused with the reports of people who waited over 20 minutes in the same sort of line. It's Goofy, I tell ya!;)

Anyone wanna start a pool on what HOUR the Mine Coaster will run out? :)

Funny how they left out that one tiny detail..........

Agreed

I actually paid attention the other night when on MDE to the text promoting the new FP+ experience and it's very misleading to anyone who doesn't know any better. I can't quote it verbatim without referring to the page, but it is along the lines of being able to FP even more attractions now than before. Without a little bit of additional knowledge, anyone reading this could be forgiven for expecting more rides. Not a limit of three and certainly not that they have simply added FP lines to attractions which formerly never needed them and are now making you pick only 3 of them (and only one in parks like Epcot ) If ever there was a manipulation of words to mislead folk, this has to be in the top rankings. Seriously, there is no other way they could phrase this to imply what it does without it actually being an outright lie. :rolleyes2

Now you can FP Captain EO! You could never do that before! ;)

One of the CMs told myself and Wolf65 that the reason Disney chose 3 FP was because it averaged 1.7 FP per day. And that it probably would stay at 3 per day. I hope not. I really don't like this new system

That was before FP- (with easy-to-flash tickets) were taken off line. After full implementation of FP+, reports are pretty consistent (and I can verify from experiencing them) that when a FP+ return line gets very long, it takes somewhere between 17 and 24 minutes to get through. Not insane. But not what we were used to.

9:30AM, oh wait that was with FP- :rotfl:

And the very first return time would have been 9:45, so anyone could ride the ride between 9:00-10:30 with minimal problem. With FP+, every time slot from 9:00-closing will be filled. So good luck with that. :lmao:
