Another PS dissapointment

I woke up at 6:58 am today, was on hold for 30 minutes (on my $) and was told the absolute latest I could get a PS for 2 adults Cindy's Royal Table for DINNER was 5:05 for Sat Feb 21st 2004.

The CM told me the latest PS was only at 5:45. Does that mean on this day that the MK closes at 6?

6? On a Saturday the last week of Feb?

Should I call back in a few weeks and see if they have added any later PS times?

I was really hoping to get a PS during a time when the fireworks were off, as I have every other time I've gone (and never had a problem getting the PS). I've never gone in Feb before...

Is a 5:05 dinner worth it? I had my heart set on eating dinner in the castle on our day of arrival. But we won't get to the MK until around 2:30 pm. That means the whole first day of our 5 day PH will be wasted on 3 hrs in the park. And we'll likely have to eat a counter lunch of some sort when we arrive since we won't have eaten since 5 AM at the airport.

If we decided to upgrade our 5 day PH to a 6 day PHP pass while we're there, can that be done?

Help!

Thanks
Sheri & Chris

Now i've never tried it, but can you even see the fireworks from Cindy's? And I wouldnt be all that shocked if all the parks close by 6 in the winter, though it does seem early for a Saturday.

Why dont you try the fireworks from another view like the CA Grille or Narccoossees? Then you wont even need to use a hopper for that short day.

Ever done the Hoop Dee Doo Revue?

Yes, you can upgrade your 5 day PH to 6 day PHP. Just go to Guest Services outside the MK or any other park and they'll be happy to help you. If you haven't used any days on your 5 day PH you'll get credit for the full price you paid.

6:00 does seem very early for MK to close on a Saturday night, even in Feb. Maybe CRT is closing early that night for a special event or some other reason. When you arrive at MK that afternoon, go to City Hall or to the CRT checkin desk and ask about changing your PS to a later time that night. I don't think they give out all the possible PSs (for dinner) this early - it's too easy to get one the day before or the morning of!

usually when park hours aren't finalized yet they keep thr PS'es to a minimum, and when they decide they will have longer hours, they will change the time that CRT closes....

oh, and you can't see the whole coolness of the fireworks from INSIDE the castle.....

That is close to President's day. The schools in my area celebrate the 16th, but I'm not sure what other schools do. I think some may have winter break around that time. That could be why it is busy...

Thanks all.

Yes, we're doing the Hoop Dee Doo later in the week :) I can't wait. I booked my PS for that already :)

I guess it's just dissapointing because I thought 6 was really early for MK to close on a Sat. even in Feb. For some reason , I thought they'd be open until 8.

I called my mom last night and she told me that she thought MK always closed at 6 when we used to go in Nov. I guess I just got spoiled going in the summer so much.

Today when I called for a PS for Sunday 2/22, I got right through and had my pick of times for Biergarten....ah , if only they were all so easy...

I always thought the fireworks looked neat from inside the castle. There was just something about staring out the castle window at them that made me feel like a Disney Princess
princess:

But I guess I will get to see them from outside this time.

Also, when I called to make the PS today, the Cm told me that they will have the offical hours in Dec. So I think I may call back Dec 1st and see if a later time can be arranged.

Thank you all!

With the new fireworks I think you are going to miss more by watching from inside the fireworks. These have more "side" type effects that would be hard to see.

For our trip a couple weeks ago park hours changed about 3 weeks before we left, and Spectromagic was added several more times than originally scheduled. I would keep checking back if you have your heart set on dinner and fireworks. As the hours for the park change, the hours for Wishes may change too, as well as what PS times are available. By the way - the new show is something to make sure you see from someplace other than inside Cindy's - it really is spectacular but you wouldn't be able to see much from inside the restaurant.

PS are available 90 days out.
Park hours are established 60 days out.
The dining system does not yet know what will be available after 5:45pm, so nothing is available at this time. That will change.

Also, when you are on hold, it is because all the agents are helping people who called before you. Oodles of new agents were recently hired, so staffing is almost at its peak right now. They're getting to you as fast as they can.

Does anyone else think it's kind of silly that they say you can make your PS 90 days out but that they don't have the park hours set until 60 days out?

I don't know. Maybe I'm just weird, but I also am extremely offended that English speaking people have to pay to call, yet Spanish speaking people get an 800 number.

But that's just me.

As far as I know, all people who speak languages other than english call the same line and are then transferred to someone who speaks their language if they don't end up with one (lots of bilingual agents)... the only 800 number is for DVC members.

Are you sure because I have seen several posts here where people refer to an 800 number for Spanish speaking people.

from www.wdwig.com , a very reliable site :

"Who do you call to make Priority Seatings?

Central Reservations Office (CRO) can handle all your PS events. CRO can be reached at 407-WDISNEY (407-934-7639). If you have a Disney Club card, you can call 800-933-3975 - press "3" to get to Dining. However, you can also call WDW Dining directly at 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463). Dining PS can be made from 7 AM to 10 PM weekdays and 7 AM to 8 PM on holidays and weekends.

For our Spanish speaking friends, there is a toll-free number at 1-800-459-5432. "

I have nothing against Spanish speaking people, but I do think it is very discriminatory that they get a toll free line and everyone else has to pay unless they are a club member.

That number is inactive and leads to a recording (in English, I might add) telling the caller to dial 407-w-disney.

Also, the DRC lines are open from 7am-11pm EST.

The historical hours for Feb 2003 show that MK closed at 7:00 Sun - Thu and 9:00 Fri & Sat, with the exception of Pres. Weekend. Surely they'll expand the hrs. so keep watching and good luck!!!:) :) :)

Thanks Steve for clearing that up! :D

I absolutely agree that it is absurd that they take PS ressies 90 days out while they do the park hours 60 days out.

While I understand they have a need to adjust park hours to fit attendance, they absolutely shouldn't be taking ressies at the park restaurants until they know what the hours will be.

Then, when it comes to California Grill, they ought not take those ressies until they know the fireworks schedule. Even if it's just 2 weeks out. That's still plenty of time to make plans...

Good. I am glad that they fixed it. It's a shame that Disney ever had a seperate number for Spanish speaking people. It's rather unsettling that they ever participated in that sort of discrimination.
