Another newbie question

DH and I have many questions before buying into the DVC...
One is can we "gift" our points to friends or family who are not DVC members to use for vacation?
Another is do the DVC options sellout? What I mean is , are there a finite number of points that Disney sells for each DVC resort? If so, how quickly do they sell out?

The short answers to your questions are, yes & yes. Anyone may use your points without you vacationing along. And yes DVD does have a limited number of owner points at each resort. Reservations are of course limited to number of units available versus requests for that timeframe.

Actually, the way it works is you would just need to make the reservation for them, using your points. If you run out of family, I'll gladly volunteer to help you use any unneeded points!

Yes, there are a finite number of points that DVC sells for each resort. When they're gone, the only way you can buy points at that resort is through the resale market...buying someone else's contract.

Right now, the sold out DVC resorts are Old Key West, Hilton Head, Boardwalk Villas, Villas at Wilderness Lodge and for the most part, the Beach Club Villas are gone too.

Vero Beach and Saratoga Springs Resort are the places that Disney is currently selling.


VWL sold out in about 3 years I think. Beach Club took about two years. Saratoga Springs has many more units (and points) so it will take longer to sell out.

You can 'gift' your points to anyone you want. Dh and I gifted points to DS & DIL as a present. It's wonderful to be able to do this!
