Another Delta thing to watch out for.

Wow! Thanks so much for the heads up. I booked my December flights back in June. They have changed many times. I had checked my flights just a few days ago and they were both okay. Just had to call Song since they had changed the flight times again and it said our seats were not assigned. It turns out they actually were still assigned. So thanks to everyone for letting us know about this change in schedules.

Well, I called Song again about my now "unassigned" seats. The CM rep told me the same thing the first rep said. No seats available until I arrive at the gate. But, this rep for Song went the extra mile for me. He sent a message to the airport requesting that the seats they are holding be released to me and my family. He said that I should call back in a few weeks and see if it had been done. If not, he said that I need to ask the Song rep to call the airport (while I am still on the line) and make sure they release the seats. I really hope this works. Send some pixie dust this way.

Delta is driving me insane too. Admittedly, I did purchase seats early for a February/March flight about six months ahead and I knew there would be changes but it has been ridiculous with losing your seat assignments and having to call. Our original flight was 5:30 a.m. MHT connecting to CVG and arriving at MCO at 11:00 a.m. Then on the way home from MCO at 1:30 p.m. connecting to LaGuardia and back to MHT at 6:00 p.m. Then they canceled the flight out of LaGuardia and had us connecting at CVG both ways. We arrived at the same time and left Orlando later at 3:30 p.m. instead of 1:30 p.m. Then they changed it again and we were leaving Orlando at 5:15 p.m. All this is great mind you because we are getting more and more time in Orlando. Then just this week they changed the departure from Orlando to 5:41 p.m. (again later flight) but our connection time on the way there was 20 minutes and 5 minutes on the way back. Don't think that is going to happen. Duh?! So after one hour on the phone with Delta on Monday night we now have the same flight to Orlando with a 2-1/2 hr. layover arriving instead at 12:30 p.m. and a new flight on the way home connecting in Atlanta instead of CVG and leaving at 3:25 p.m. and arriving home at 9:00 p.m. instead. Still up 2 hours on the way home from our original flights but lost those 2 hours on the arrival time for the flight down. I guess it all evens out but man what a headache! We have nine people traveling and we lose our seat assignments every time! They are making me nuts. I no longer print out the tickets because I just know they will change several more times before February and it is a waste of ink! Also the people at Alamo probably think I am nutso because I keep modifying my car rental reservation.

Hi all - Since I started this topic I have learned how to check my online itinerary that gives the seat numbers. My question now is... If something changes again on my flight will the online itinerary say unassigned seats so I'll know to call and get them reassigned? Also an unrelated question if anyone knows... Is there a time limit that you can dispute something charged on a credit card? So if Delta changes flights and there is nothing on their schedule that works for me and I need to go to another airline could I get me money back from Delta by disputing the charge? What if the charge was made 4 or 5 months prior?

Chris, when you check your itinery on-line, yes, it clearly states your seats are "unassigned", which I guess happens automatically when any change is made to your itinery. My flight back was changed by 1 minute and they unassigned my seats both ways :confused3 . I now check on line every day. the sooner you catch and get your seats back the better.

chris7 ~ I spent an hour on the phone on Monday with Delta when they changed my flights for the 4th time and I lost my seat assignments again. I was really frustrated because we were leaving Orlando at 5:15 p.m. which was fine and they changed it to 5:41 (even better except it made our connecting time only 5 minutes!) I wanted to leave around the same time but the one flight that connected to my home airport at 9:30 p.m. was full so I had to take an earlier time. They had a flight showing on the internet that left at about 5:00 but he said it was operated by Northwest and while I could purchase that ticket on the internet he couldn't book me on that flight. I finally agreed to take a 3:25 p.m. flight but he did tell me in my frustration that I could get a full refund if they didn't have any flight times that worked for me. I was really tempted but I got an excellent price and I wasn't so sure I could do any better with any other airlines since the tickets for that week are all starting around $160 per ticket more than the tickets I got for less desirable flight times. So I would think if you are really unhappy and they can't accommodate you they will offer you a full refund too (BTW . . . we bought our February tickets in June). That was my experience anyway FWIW. Good luck!

It seems that calling quickly after changes are made is key. I called today and had a very helpful Delta agent confirm all my seats. They were the exact same seats I had reserved when I originally made my reservation and before they changed the times on all four segments. I'm sure they'll make more changes, but this gives me a way to be active in my planning -- check every day.
