Animal Crossing-City Folk

Would it be possible for people to post pictures of their room decor, character, etc? It would be fun to see how people decorate their homes!
:)

Oh yeah that would be really cool! You can do it I will have to try it out tonight. :goodvibes

Whew! Finally had a chance to get on and add all the new friends!

Thanks for the help with the snowmen -- now if I could only convince DD that she shouldn't keep pushing them into the river

We have to get more oranges -- ours all died for some reason :sad1: We did get the apples, peaches and coconuts to grow.

I STILL can't make a good snowman! aarrrggg! It is very frustrating! I must not be getting the body to head ratio right... I dunno...

I was wondering if we all had the same weather patterns..?? Anyone know? The first day I played it snowed and it was so pretty! It hasn't snowed since though... There is a fish I am trying to catch and it said in the guide book that it has to be raining or snowing. Plus, I think it's pretty! :cutie:

Also, I read in the guide book to bury the shovel for 4 days, and now I am hearing just one day. I think I will have to re-bury it in any event though, I can't remember when I buried it! :upsidedow

We dug ours up after one day and they were gold, so I think it's only 1 day.

DD needs a bigger house, she just got a letter from the HRA telling her that her room is a mess -- just like in real life :rotfl:

How long have you guys been playing? I haven't been able to play yet today with a sick toddler, hopefully a little tonight.

Thanks! I think I will go dig mine up now, I have have no idea how many days it's been there! :upsidedow If it doesn't work, I'll just bury another one and dig it up tomorrow.

I got my game for Christmas, and started playing just before New Years. I'm addicted now! I think I have only missed playing it one day so far. That will end soon, I'm sure! I think I'm a slowpoke at it though, I just got the second story to my house yesterday, and they are starting to build my new bridge tomorrow. Oh well, I'm having fun!

Hope your little one feels better soon!

Aimee I loved your town! I told my dd about it and she can't wait to visit. Thank you for the fruit. I planted them and hopefully they will grow. I did lose a coconut though because I immediately dug it up after I planted it.:headache:

I have had snow almost every day. Mostly earlier in the afternoon.

Oh Cool! I wish I could get more snow! I have only had one day of it so far. So the snow on the ground is getting rather sparse... which makes it even harder to make the ever elusive perfect snowman!!

I tried to find my friend number but it didn't have one. :confused3

Thank luvdzne! I am glad you had fun, come back and get more coconuts anytime! I am searching for a lamp for you.

I owe apologizes to Anthony today I had to vaccum the house while he was over! Sorry Anthony!

I was lurking on here and saw this, and wanted to warn you - you won't get more snow on the ground when it does snow next in your town. The snow actually replaced the grass pattern once it became winter, and when spring comes and the grass comes back it will only appear where you have snow.

The fact that the snow is getting sparse is because of a new feature the programmers added in this version of Animal Crossing. It's called "Animal Tracks". As your character walks around, it wears tracks in the snow/grass. The programmers said that it would take 2 weeks for a path to show up, but it takes much less time than that. Actually, if you watch closely as your character walks you can see the snow disappearing. It does come back, but very slowly. Planting lots of trees and flowers seems to encourage the regrowth but even then it takes a long time. There are many players whose towns look like deserts now.

Several people have started petitions and many people are emailing Nintendo to try to get them to release a patch to fix the issue since it seems impossible to keep grass/snow in a town if several people play in it.

People on one of the AC forums have been trying to figure out the best way to keep or regrow the grass/snow. This is one of the most in-depth threads about it: http://www.animalcrossingcommunity.com/Topic/3206882/1/The_NEW_AC_CF_Grass_Guide

:scared1: :scared1: WOW! I had no idea!! Thanks for sharing the info!! But... :sad1: ... I really liked the snow! I guess it's from being here in Texas, snow is a big deal around here! Well, at least now I know not to get my hopes up. (There goes my dreams of making a good Snowman...:guilty: )

Once you have the golden shovel, you can bury bells and they will become trees that grow bells.
DH tried this....his money grew into a tree but no money is on the tree, it's just a plain old tree....and it's been days already. How long does it take?

Also, somebody far back in the thread said something about digging up a non fruit bearing tree and burying something in order to get other fruits....can anybody give me some details on this?

I think I visited your town today, too. I left for a bit to go back and get a bunch of fruit for you. Didn't see a pumpkin on your head, though :lmao:

I've been able to play a bit more than usual over the last couple of days because I couldn't work (I work from home and my home phone was out, and no phone means no work). But it's back to the real world for me tomorrow. I still hope to catch people when I can wrestle the remote from the kids.

I have a question. Instead of purchasing this game, I rented it. It is very fun, but it takes a lot of time to make some money. I have saved the infos on the Wii. Now, if I decided to purchase this game, will I have to start all over again (name of the city, my name, picking out my home...etc)?? Or will I be able to use where I have left off from the rental game??

Also how do find the bugs? Where are they? I understand you can see them, is that correct? I finally learned how to fish.. and I can actually see the fish.

TIA!! This game can get addicting!! :)

The disk won't make any difference. As long as you don't delete the save file from your Wii, it will work when you get another game disk. As far as the Wii is concerned, the disks are all the same.

As for the bugs, there aren't very many at this time of year. You'll see more in the spring and summer. You'll be able to see the dung beetle pushing snowballs around, and if you leave trash out you'll see flies. Other bugs can be under rocks and will run out when you hit the rock. Bugs and fish are one reason the guide is so good to have - it lists which ones are available when, and where you will find them.

It is a very addictive game! I've been hooked since the Gamecube version and played that one every day for a year. I even took the Gamecube on all our trips with us that year so I wouldn't miss anything on the game.

Thanks so much Scurvy. Is it winter everywhere? I'm thinking if you type Orlando or somewhere warm that there will be no snow on the ground? So with this game, Wii will automatically change the season when the date changes? I'm so sorry for all these questions. I am just trying to understand this game. Thank you again.

I am just so glad to learn that I don't have to start again from the beginning! I would hate to loose whatever money I have earned. Whew.

As far as I know it is winter everywhere. It definitely doesn't change based on your location in the US, though different regions of the globe could have different seasons. I'm not sure about that.

The seasons do change automatically throughout the year. The colors of the grass and trees will change with the seasons. The bugs and fish will also change. The seasons change at the same time for everyone (at least everyone in the same region, but I think all regions are the same) but the weather varies from town to town.

It does get easier to earn money as you go on. And some times of the year are better than others, too - there are more really valuable bugs and fish you can catch in the summer, although the stringfish will be gone. And if you can get an orchard of exotic fruit established that will really help with the money!

I splurged and bought the Animal Crossing City Folk Prima Official Game Guide. It has so much great info, my 10-year old can't stop reading and announcing the cool things she's found out about the game. It's great and explains a lot of the questions I had about the difference between the Game Cube version and the Wii version. If you want to know when the birthday of every one of the animals in your town and tons of other stuff buy the book. I ordered it from Amazon.
