Power failures are not all that unusal during the summer months. So from about 8:40 PM last night until about 3:00 AM this morning our household was thrust into complete darkness (like we normally sleep with all the lights on...

) But unlike the tales of peaceful serenity that Alan told during a similar experience recently, our household was a little different.......
Kids forced to survive without the satellite dish TV.....
The PC
and the cable modem out.....
A neurotic dog panting and slobbering thinking that thunderstorms are nothing compared to total darkness and silence.....
A neighbor whose first reaction is to call us rather than the power company......
The need for AC for the first time in a long time.
The feeling of waking up at flashing 12:00 o'clock to the sounds of Windows XP startup music because your PC was on when this happened. (Not to mention every light and electrical appliance in the house).
The stupidity of flicking the light switch when you go into the bathroom even though you know the power is out
and you have a flashlight with you. (C'mon, you've all done it!)
The thought that the last thing that you were doing when this happened was clicking on a PM from Donna (The Donna Virus??) Hey, lots of things cross your mind when you're sweating and kids are tripping over dogs....
So Alan you are right. Moments like that really do make you stop and think about what is important in life.....
