A few questions about our next cruise (which one to choose?)

Hello,

Health question for you : In the Bahamas, I've read that mosquitoes can transmit diseases like dengue fever, chikungunya, and zika.
Is this a real problem, or have you never heard of any concerns about this ? Should I apply mosquito repellent as a preventative measure ?

Thank you!

Hi!

Nobody has any opinions on mosquitoes ?

Otherwise, we looked at the different activities we might enjoy during the cruise on the Disney website.
I'm posting them below in the form of images.
If you've already done them, can you tell us if you enjoyed them or not ? Or are there any others you really recommend ?

Thanks in advance ! :)

It is not a bad idea to apply mosquito repellent in ports, but not always necessary depending on what you do.

We do not do any activities on castaway cay or lookout cay. This is up to you. We prefer to relax on the beach or swim in the water. We bring our own mask and snorkel. There are also places to walk either on the beach or other walking paths. These are private islands/beaches and are very safe.

Some people find Nassau dangerous, but we do not. If you are comfortable walking around on your own, there are plenty of things you can explore on your own in Nassau. If you go to a website called cruise critic, you will find a lot of information on ports of call and what to do there. However, you might want to do organized activity there.

FYI: We always request a private dining table. This is up to you. If you do not request a private dining table, you will be seated at a table with other people.

For Castaway Cay, you probably don't need to reserve recreational equipment in advance -- I have rented bicycles and paddle boats while on the island with no problem. If you're sure that's what you want, it wouldn't hurt to reserve, but you may find enough to do that you don't need it, or may be affected by weather. If the ship can't disembark at all, your reservation will be refunded, but if the ship docks and the weather is cold, I think you'd still be charged.

The only excursion my family has done on Castaway Cay is the Stingray Adventure, which they enjoyed. We haven't been to Lookout Point.

In Nassau, we did the Greycliff chocolate-making tour, which was fun to do once. We went to Ardastra Gardens once, which was fun when the kids were young. We usually just walk around for a little while near the port or stay on the ship.

If someone in your family is interested in meeting the princesses, you should definitely try for the Royal Gathering when booking opens. There will be 4 or 5 princesses in the lobby, and guests go from one to the next getting photos and chatting. Some of the princesses may be greeting around the ship at other times during the cruise, but this would be a guaranteed time. If it's sold out when you try to book, you can ask at Guest Services once you're onboard to see if there have been cancellations.

I have not had issues with mosquitoes in Nassau or Castaway Cay, but repellent wouldn't hurt if you are concerned, especially if you're out late in the day.

Yes. You should CALL about transfers/transportation. Not sure “Chat” would work but I have always called to have it added to my reservations.
