Disney Vacation Club's Doorway to Dreams store is a remote DVC sales center that opened a year ago in Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL. It's a new concept for DVC that allows them to reach out to more members in person without having to wait for them to visit WDW.

I'm sure their market research pointed to the Chicago market as a prime location to test this new concept. I have to believe that if this works well for them, we'll start to see more of these open across the country.

Congrats to two Disers for winning the trips! We just got back from the 7:00 presentation. DD won the $100.00 gift card! Since she turns 21 in Feb. and we're going on the 7 night Tortola cruise in June, it's the start of her "booze fund". She kept looking at Dad and I to add on so we could do the Italy trip, sorry kiddo, we have plans for our points for the next couple of years. (like Hawaii in 2011, for our 25th anniversary - they better get moving on that resort they're promising!).

Congratulations to the two Disboards members who won. We were at the 7PM as well, but got "skunked" - no luck this evening. Regardless, it was a very nice time. Great venue, good company, snacks, a gift bag and photos with the characters. Hard to ask for more Disney fun soooo far from Orlando and Anaheim.

Our youngest DS was off to one side in the kids room playing catch with Goofy (tossing a beach ball to one another) when we went in to get him, after the presentation. We watched and they were having the best time, with no one else really waiting on Goofy. It was a very cool Disney moment.

Can't say that we're really "knocked over" by the 100 point incentives. We'll probably add on via resale instead.

Tigerrn2...believe it or not, my son has been playing with Mr. Potato Head all evening long after we got home! He already has Darth Tater, so I imagine poor Mr. PH is subject to multiple light saber attacks as I write this.

This incredible surprise of winning the trip came at such the right time...tomorrow my son's best friend (joined at the hip) moves to Texas and he's been so upset the last couple of days trying to say his goodbyes and do their last skateboard riding and video game playing together.

How neat to win the $100 gift card, too..congrats to the Dis-daughter!

WE WON TOO!!

We won the 2pm on Friday. We left the kids at home and decided to make a mini-date out of it. We had lunch and then went to the presentation. After standing outside in the blazing sun, we got in and it all began. I told my wife that since the Dream Squad didn't visit us on our trip in June, that they wouldn't forget us today! I also reminded her to think positive! And the funny thing is, I'm the pessimist out of us. When they called our name, we were so excited that we even forgot to hug each other!

After sitting there and collecting ourselves for about 15-20 minutes, we collected some of the streamers and put them in our bag so we could throw them on the kids when we got home. Since I work nights, I ended up taking the rest of the night off to celebrate! We came home and told the girls and they were so excited. Matter of fact, I think that was the first time our littlest one finally put the words "Didney Worl" together! It was pretty funny. We can't wait to go!!!

And IIRC, there were 8 sessions, so far DIS'ers won 37.5% of the trips!

Too funny! When they called our name, I got up and looked at my wife, who was sitting behind me screaming, so we could go up and get it. She was in such shock that she was still sitting there not moving. So, I interpretted this to mean she just wanted me to go up and get it, so I headed up. Well, evidently, once she saw me heading up, she flew up from the table and sprinted for the front, jumping over streamers and feet like OJ running through an airport. People must have thought she was "saved", since she hobbled in with a cane and was so excited that she left her cane at the table as she ran for the front of the room.

I was at the Saturday, 11am session and was 3 tables to the right of the big trip winner. Sadly, I'm from Indiana was was ineligible to win at the event but am sure excited that someone from Disboards won!


And I added on to my original contract bought just two months ago while I was there!
