I think he'd have a chance regardless, as long as he has fans. I don't like Chris, but Daughtry has a new album coming out this spring and he didn't win. Same for Jennifer Hudson, I'm not a fan of hers either but her music's on the radio whereas Ruben, Fantasia, Taylor, and Jordin are nowhere to be found  Either way, I hope DC does release new stuff! I still like the guy and would love to hear him release something that wasn't a cookie-cutter creation from the producers.

I just saw you added about Jason. He has a new album coming out later this year. Will it be a huge hit? Who knows, but at least he'll be able to create the kind of album he wants rather than having it up to the clueless pop producers.

They all have albums coming out later. Every loser does but few are successful. Jordin, btw, is all over the place. She just did performances with John Mayer and isn't she going to tour with the Jonas Brothers? She's been way more successful than anyone else in her year. Ruben and Fantastia have done well in their markets. They stuck to what they wanted to do and it isn't the type of music that gets played on main stream radio but they have had more success than others in their years.

I bet the idols would rather put out a first album that isn't quite to their taste and have it sell quite well than put an album out that is to their taste and have it not sell well. At least the ones that sell get a second chance.

I haven't seen or heard of Jordin anywhere around here since the beginning of last year :confused3 She doesn't get airplay here at all and I never hear anything about her. Maybe it's cause she's on tour?

I don't know, I guess a lot of them would rather release stuff they have no say over and have it sell than otherwise, but that's what I hate about American Idol. I like when music's real - when it was written and created by people who actually care about it. I like when music's personal, creative and tells you something about the artist. Anyone who says they want to be a musician just to have random producers pull the strings and create a cookie-cutter album that'll sell, shouldn't be a musician to begin with. That's not real music, that's selling out :confused3 Which is exactly why so many people don't take American Idol seriously. It's not musicians handcrafting their music to create something personal and meaningful (even if it's just fun music) and doing whatever it takes to get it out there - it's clueless producers deciding what the public should and shouldn't like and then just handing someone a strict contract. I guess that's also why I watch the show for what it is - an entertaining reality show, but then don't follow up with the contestant's music afterward.

It's April Fool's Day..think Ryan Seacrest or the judges will play into that tonight with the results?

It is so hard to make it in the music business. Look at all the talent on myspace that just don't seem to be going anywhere. I think contestants figure that Idol may be their best shot even if they have to sell out for a while.

I think DC has said as much in some of his blogs/vlogs. I think he fought to get some of his material in there while accepting that they needed some Pop type music to pay the bills. Someone really has his back and I think he's probably a pretty smart guy as well. Maybe some of it is dumb luck too - having an identifiable song during an Olympic year got it all started. (not that I want to hear him do that kind of music in the future)

I love the fact he is doing the "college tour". That is the way to build a fanbase outside and apart from AI.

I couldn't tell you what a handful of the newer past seasons are up to. I've followed more of the older ones from the earlier seasons.

There have been some I did like on the show and now I won't listen to their music. I don't even own DCs album and I was a fan. Then there were some on the show who I didnt like and now I do.

Everyone is going to have to different tastes in music and different areas of the country will have different music focuses then others. Nowdays though it's so easy for them after their contract is up to release material of their own.

Definitely. I don't necessarily agree with it, but it's obviously HARD to break into show-biz and this is a huge opportunity.

I just hope Adam does something fun and that doesn't suck after this cause I really like him

That is exactly what I have been saying about Adam. Much as I don't like him, I admit he is really talented. If he wins this competition he will be forced to put out a radio friendly album. I am willing to bet that is not the type of music he want to sing and I know that it is NOT what his fans want to hear.

I do think that the music that he has written is quite radio friendly (Pop goes the camera for example) and would easily fit on an album. I think he would work quite well as an idol winner.

Oh lord. I never heard that song but :scared: Has anyone seen Music and Lyrics with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore? That song sounds just like "Pop Goes My Heart!" :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I can see Adam releasing a lot of gay club anthems. He reminds me so much of Darren Hayes, he sounds just like him. I just hope he releases something good or I'm done with AI

Did anyone else hear that Simon wants to leave? I know the contracts are up soon... how much longer do you think the show will last?

Tidbit: I used to work with Adam's dad Eber Lambert in San Diego. Eber's got an ear for music and plays guitar. He was one of the early employees of Qualcomm and is likely rich and retired, so he's got plenty of time to attend the AI shows.

Lil is 25?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have never, ever, ever, EVER guessed she was that young. I know you can only be a certain age on the show but I thought she was way older. She has such an old-fashioned persona.

I knew her age but she comes across like a 40yo mature woman. I guess being married with 3 children AGES you... :scared:

On the other hand Allison comes across like a 40yo former alcoholic.. :confused3

Cooool! :cool1:

Holy Cow! I miss one night flying to Florida and a whole new thread happens!Sure, you were all trying to ditch me, I know......:rolleyes1Or an April Fools joke?
LOL...anyway...I was able to quick zip through last nights show...I liked it overall. Kris...woah.....now THAT was awesome! First night I've liked Scott in 3 weeks as well.
I thin Matt, Megan and Anoop wil be in the bottom 3...or they are gonna put Lil in there for drama.
Looking foreward to any April Fool jokes that occur.

Funny every year I hear this Whatever happened to Ruben and Fantasia thing and I go :rolleyes1

I listen to R&B and Gospel stations and I hear them ALL THE TIME. I only hear Daughtry, Carrie and David Cook on AI but I never ask "whatever happened to them?" Maybe it's because I'm not in their demographic????

Ruben is a gospel SUPERSTAR and Fantasia sings only R&B. I don't expect people who don't listen to that kind of music on the regular to know much about them. Both have done well on Broadway, but all I hear about on the DIS is Clay!

I know the deal here, I just go... :rolleyes1

Top 9 – Top Downloads

Thanks Jeff!

Anoop Desai – Caught Up – I liked this WAY more than the judges. Noop has serious soul!:cool1:

Megan Joy – Turn Your Lights Down Low – I have nothing nice to say so like my Mom always said, say NOTHING.:surfweb:

Danny Gokey – What Hurts the Most – Wow, Danny's BEST performance. I really felt every word he sang. I really like Danny but lately he's been disappointing me. Last night he reminded me why I liked him!

Allison Iraheta – Don’t Speak – I love Allison and her old world style. She is a total professional and I love her voice!

Scott MacIntyre – Just the Way You Are – This is Scott's niche, he is a piano man. I just like him.

Matt Giraud – You Found Me – I'm kind of over Matt, plus I find him utterly unattractive. I feel bad admitting that but it's distracting.

Lil Rounds – I Surrender – I don't care for anything she does. :headache:

Adam Lambert – Play That Funky Music – Love him love him LOVE him. He can sing me the phone book! :dancer:

Kris Allen – Ain’t No Sunshine – I feel for him what some people feel for Adam...YUK! He's so corny and whitebread, he bores me to death. And those faces he makes when he's singing makes me sick. Like Simon says: Sorry...
