Steven Tyler AND Mick Jagger!!!

She's nuts. Period.

When I hear Adam sing, when he belts out his loud high-pitched scream, I always think of Motley Crew!! He totally reminds me of some of those '80's rock singers when he does that. Even my DH thinks so. I really like this guy--I think he is very talented, but I did not care for the performance last night. It was interresting, and he accomplished his goal of making the song his own, but I wouldn't want to hear that song again. His dancing last night, with all the drama, reminded me of something you might see in Vegas. I did not like his Elvis hair last night, either. I think I like the alternative rock look on him best. But, all in all, I think he is very talented and I think he could win.

Congrats on the tag...I like it:thumbsup2

Thanks!!

Matt -- I really liked this. I love The Fray and I thought he did well with it. I would much rather have listened to that than anything else I had heard up until that point. Yet they ripped him to shreds. :confused3 Poor guy doesn't WANT to be pigeonholed into one genre. I agree Coldplay was a mistake. But I don't think this was at all.

ITA! I'm so confused about what they tell the poor guy. The judges really need to make up their minds. I wasn't a fan of the Coldplay song, but I thought last night went well. I could see him being an artist similar to The Fray. Their feedback for Matt was just awful.

I'm even more confused b/c they didn't really care for Lil last night, yet they gave her encouraging feedback. What's up w/ that?

Having some trouble staying awake last night, so I may have been dreaming this. But please dear God tell me that Paula did not compare Adam to Steven Tyler out loud. Does she even know who he is? She IS on drugs.

quickly editing to add...I like Adam okay but come ON.

And the craziest thing is that it is the SECOND time she has made that comparison! I was  the first time too and commented on it. (That was actually before I was an Adam fan!) I love Adam but seriously :rotfl2:!

Let's hope! BUT on the flip side she is funny to watch where Scott and Lil just bore me to tears. I guess it's a toss up for me. Bad singers or boring singers? Eh.

Must be why I became an Adam fan. I love Motley Crue and 80's rock! I agree with you on the hair. It did not work last night like it did Motown week.

Who said he had Eddie Muster hair? PERFECT description.

That was me...er...actually my DH!

Unrelated to the above quote/reply:
Complain all you like folks but Kara was right. Adam has a sound that is so uniquely his, so identifiable just like Steven Tyler (who BTW screams every note) and Mick Jagger (who isn't a particularly good singer, but one helluva showman/artist). She hit the nail on the head.

Adam Lambert: "Play That Funky Music"...aha...ahaha...Yes...just yes. HELL YES. The boy can SANG and work a stage like a professional. He makes me laugh and go to my happy place...THAT is how you entertain a crowd dangit! :worship:

***Side Note***
DH doesn't like Adam's Eddie Munster hair.:lmao:

Here's a good link for you! Scroll down to about the fourth item! :lmao:

this is the first week thati actually liked chris..and i thought danny was very good , still think adam should win this thing..funky music wasnt his best performance but thats okay,he still the most talented one on that stage!

About Adam...could you really stand to listen to a whole CD of him shrieking like a banshee? :headache:

He is the Taylor Hicks of this years competition...entertaining...yes....:dancer:

able to translate that into records (I'm dating myself...cd's or downloads) that will sell...nope.:sad2:

I don't agree. I thought Taylor was entertaining but he wasn't all that talented. He was so old-fashioned and completely irrelevant that the whole thing made no sense. That whole season was horrible! Adam, however, has an awesome voice. He "shrieks" because it's his style (I'm a huge GNR fan... I like all hair bands really :lmao:) so I like it. Underneath it all though, he still has an incredible voice and is more current and unique than anyone else up there.

Who's to say what'll happen after the show though? I fully expect to love whatever he puts out (like I did with Kelly and Clay at the time), but that sometimes doesn't happen. I LOVED DC from the beginning last year - I thought he had an awesome voice and put on a great show. I CAN'T STAND his new album though. It's too Nickelback for me, and sounds just like every other pop-rock band out there. I went from loving and whole-heartedly rooting for him, to changing the station whenever his crappy song comes on  I don't think that'll happen with Adam since he's more unique and has more of the indie/glam style I love, but who knows. Either way, he's not for everyone but the guy's got the voice and presence to make it big, and I think he will.

I don't think he shrieks like a banshee at all. More like shrieks Axl Rose which rocks my world!

I can see where you're coming from but for me the comparison is laughable because of the stature of both Steven Tyler and Mick Jagger. While I'm a big fan of Adam's I think it's a bit early in his career to be giving him that kind of credit.

Adam Lambert: Play That Funky Music – LOVED IT!!! Adam is officially this year's diva!:laughing: Seriously, he can do no wrong and I love how he's always keeping me guessing. Like I said last week, I know exactly what all the other contestants will do week after week but he's always changing it up and keeping the show fun to watch. If I was going to see any of the contestants live once the show ends, he's the only one I'd actually see. He's entertaining and unique, whereas the other contestants are the same old, same old. Why see Danny, Matt or Lil when I can see any of the already established artists who have the same sound but a million times better? Adam puts on a show and I love it and I love him!! :goodvibes But I'm sure you all knew that already! ;)

Kris Allen: Ain’t No Sunshine – I haaaaaaaaaaate this song, but he sounded pretty damn good! He's definitely my second favorite of the season. I always thought he was cute when they flashed glimpses of him during the audition rounds, but didn't think he'd make it far at all since he got no screen time. I'm definitely pleasantly surprised! He could have the Kelly Clarkson effect... she was no where in sight during the auditions while they pimped Tamyra to the brim, but then she got better and better as the weeks went by and eventually emerged as an incredible talent. Kris will go far, and may even go farther than a lot of us think ;)

Top: Adam and Kris

Everyone else sucked

I agree wholeheartedly with your review, including going to see a show with Adam. I've seen some of his RL performances on Youtube and they are a blast. Especially when he's with that whole troupe of female dancers.

I agree with some others that there just wasn't much to get excited about last night.

Lil -- Hated the hair. She looked like Gail King! That song should be right up her alley but I thought she sounded awful and her HUGE mouth was distracting. The judges ripped into her -- as they should have.

Her mouth may be huge but not as huge as another part of her anatomy. She really shouldn't wear tight skirts as it's distracting.

I don't think he's shrieking. He sings high notes and he sings them extremely well. If anyone is the Taylor Hicks this year it's Danny Gokey - OK voice but awkward stage presence, boring cover songs and chubby.

The only thing that ever translates into serious CD sales is the quality of the songs you release. You can be the most talented singer ever but if you don't get that hit song you're not selling lots of CDs. End of.
One of the problems with being an AI winner is the craptastic material they make you to sing on the debut album. It can be a real career killer - as in Justin Guarini's case. There are worse singers than him out there but those singers have hit songs. Mick Jagger doesn't have a great voice but he had hit songs and stage presence. That's what it takes to have a career. If Adam can come up with great material he'll sell CDs - if not, he'll have a big career in musical theater. In some ways it might be better for him to come in second and have more control over what he records.

Answer to question number one... uh YES. Steven Tyler screamed his way thru Walk This Way and Dream On and they sold a couple of copies.. :rolleyes1

The only comparison I see with Taylor is that you either like him or you don't. There is no middle ground.

And since I haven't bought a cd, record or download in about 20 years... it don't matter to me! (I'm in the business, I get them for free!)

I can see this is going to be another Fantasia/Taylor year... a winner that is just HATED by so many. :surfweb:

I just can't buy into the better not to win scenario. I think Daughtry has been the only one to outsell the winner -- and now Jennifer Hudson has gotten her due. Out of all the losers from so many seasons, you'd really think more of them would hit it big.

Where is Justin, where is Clay (broadway), where is Diana DeGarmo (broadway), where is Kat McPhee, where is Bo Bice, where is Blake? It is sad, really but I think you stand a better chance of success with the win.

Exactly! Look at the Beatles - none of them, not a single one, would win a show like this but they were incredible songwriters and knew how to write a catchy tune. How well an artist does is more about the music than the artist themselves. I'll go back to David Cook again. I thought he had amazing musicianship the way he was able to rearrange all the songs he sang and he had an awesome voice, but I HATE his album. The winner of AI is always stuck releasing really crappy music. I said it last season and I'll say it again - it's better to make it as far as you can without actually winning (or even making the Top 2) because then AI owns you for a long, long time. And as much as the producers think they know about music, they continue to release forgettable crap for the winners who are usually forgotten about after a while!

Lil Rounds, it's not the song choice; it's you. Ever hear about those cellphone ringtones that only teenagers can hear? Well, I'm starting to wonder if Lil's vocals are similarly tuned to a frequency at which Randy, Kara, Paula, and Simon are privileged to hear their greatness, while I'm stuck deafly wondering what all the hype is about. (Or maybe the judges were merely distracted by the eerie projection of dual Lil heads towering over that comparatively tiny, holleratin' Lil body.) In all seriousness, though, not only has Lil struggled to stay on pitch during the verses of her songs for four weeks running, but with tonight's ''I Surrender,'' the woman failed to deliver when it came to the big notes, going flatter than that bunky wig that looked like it had been sitting underneath a backstage makeup counter since it got discarded by a member of En Vogue back in '96.

You may hate this album from David Cook but I'll guarantee you that he'll be putting another one out. Without the win, it is doubtful that he would get a second chance. How is it going for Jason? We all said he'd be better off without the win too.

I think he'd have a chance regardless, as long as he has fans. I don't like Chris, but Daughtry has a new album coming out this spring and he didn't win. Same for Jennifer Hudson, I'm not a fan of hers either but her music's on the radio whereas Ruben, Fantasia, Taylor, and Jordin are nowhere to be found  Either way, I hope DC does release new stuff! I still like the guy and would love to hear him release something that wasn't a cookie-cutter creation from the producers.

I just saw you added about Jason. He has a new album coming out later this year. Will it be a huge hit? Who knows, but at least he'll be able to create the kind of album he wants rather than having it up to the clueless pop producers.

Have you ever looked at the writing credits on DC's album though? Raine Maida, Johnny Rzeznik, Chris Cornell etc are hardly paid goons by the AI machine. There certainly are some goons too, but DC at least co-wrote nearly the whole album. That is a lot more input than other idol winners I've seen.

For me DC's album was released at a bad time. The month before there was new music released by Oasis, Keane, and Snow Patrol and all three were brilliant. Almost 6 months later I am still listening to all three weekly. DC's just paled in comparison. But Nickelback? That's not fair.:laughing:

I honestly never looked at the writing credits. If he co-wrote half the album, then maybe he isn't as good as I thought he was  And he does remind me of Nickeblack! Sorry but I can't staaaaand them. Just that whole sound and the tone of each song... it all sounds the same and there's just something about it I hate. And every one of David's songs I've listened to sound just like that
