loved Adam last night.....I don't recall but did Megan have that weird singing voice in throughout the audition process?

It's on like Donkey Kong folks! Tonights theme is a fascinating one since we finally get to see/hear some stuff that is recent and relevant. Let's get it on!



Anoop Desai: Well he looks fantastic. His stage presence is definitely good, but this song is just terrible. Is it me or is it completely a-melodic? Usher did this? Blarf... Only partially Anoop's fault since the song sucked eggs to begin with.

Megan Joy: "Turn Your Lights Down Low"...hmmm...I don't love the choice, but she COULD make it into something ok. Here is the problem; aside from her wooden/awkward stage presence, her voice is monotone. It never changes. It always has the same sound! How does she make every note sound like the same thing? I thought for sure she'd do Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl or something. This was just a waste of airtime.

Danny Gokey: "What Hurts The Most"...I don't "do" country, but we'll see if he can make me sit up and take notice. He's got SUCH a nice tone to his voice, but something about this performance is leaving me a bit cold. The note he's hitting on the word "most" is totally nasally? And his last note was weak and flat. I think it's an unmemorable performance.

Allison Iraheta: "Don't Speak" could be RIGHT up her alley. How will she make it "hers"? First off, WHAT the heck-fire is she wearing and what did they do to her hair???? She seems to be rushing through and "chewing" on the song. Again, I am not feeling it tonight. Maybe it's me?

WHY are the commercial breaks so freaking long tonight?? Seriously!

Scott McIntyre: "Just The Way You Are"...oh come on! If THIS is the music Scott wants to do then he needs the boot now. He sounds like a lounge singer. Bottom line, old, been-there-done-that, and not good enough. Hmph.

Matt Giraud: "You Found Me", well at least it's current. Ryan stepped all over the intro...thanks a lot. This is Goddawful. I have a problem with singers who pronounce "me" like "mehhhh" and this grates right along that nerve. The performance was so bad I can't even begin to describe it.

Lil Rounds: "I Surrender" Oh dear. She is singing COMPLETELY through her nose. This is another painful performance. Really..I surrender...jeeesh!

Adam Lambert: "Play That Funky Music"...aha...ahaha...Yes...just yes. HELL YES. The boy can SANG and work a stage like a professional. He makes me laugh and go to my happy place...THAT is how you entertain a crowd dangit!

DH doesn't like Adam's Eddie Munster hair.

Kris Allen: "Ain't No Sunshine"...I don't care too much for the song in general, but we'll see. Not a fan of his "dirt-lip"...shave or grow a real 'stache dude! But on the rizzle? This is smokin' hotness. He stepped it UP. Another artist who knows who he is. Me likey!

I agree with everything you said. I listened to Adam and Kris again this morning and liked them even more. They were both just better than everyone else. Adam's problem can be summed up by looking at the crowd shots while he sang. While most of the audience is up and dancing, there is a shot of a tall, bald man sitting in the family area that looks like he is frozen in place. I think that shot is a perfect picture of Adam's appeal.

I double echo your comment about Matt pronouncing "me" as "mehhh". I don't know why but I can't stand to hear that. It grates on my nerves too.

I also told my husband that Adam was styling an Eddie Munster hairdo.

Last night was boring. Who would have thought I'd like Country night better than a night when they can sing whatever they want?!!

Anoop Desai: Caught Up – Hated it. I hate the song and even though I've heard it a million, billion times, I couldn't understand a word he was saying. Simon was right - he looked like a cheesy frat guy wannabe

Megan Joy: Turn Your Lights Down Low – Horrible, it's her time to go. Again, she actually has a really cool, unique voice, but she has no idea what to do with it.

Danny Gokey: What Hurts the Most – Again, I didn't like it He screamed the whole thing and was really struggling. He doesn't have as natural of a talent as some other people. He has a nice voice, but he really has to stress to get it out. And it skeeved me out watching him spit all over everything

Allison Iraheta: Don’t Speak – I really like her, but that just wasn't good. Maybe "Don't Speak" is too iconic of a song (at least for my generation) but she kind of ruined it. She was way too whiny and screechy. She should have done a Heart song! I didn't think it was fair that the judges made such a big deal out of her outfit, though... don't they have stylists hired by AI?!!!!!

Scott MacIntyre: Just the Way You Are – Who in the world did that to his hair?!! It looked horrible! Poor guy! Anyway, I'm another huge Billy Joel fan (being from NY, my dad saw him a million times before he even made it big, and got my brother and I into him when we were wee little ones ) and it was nothing special. Too slow and... vanilla... It was plain and boring. It's his time to go soon.

Matt Giraud: You Found Me – I thought he was gonna do this really well but My bro never pays attention to AI but even he looked up from what he was doing and was like He tried WAY too hard... he was really pushing those notes and sounded constipated I still really like him but that just wasn't good!

Lil Rounds: I Surrender – Again, I just think she's sooooo boring! It's like they needed a diva for this season and she was all they could find, but she's nowhere near as good as the judges seem to want her to be. She screamed the whole thing. Hated it. But she looked really pretty with her new bob last night!

Adam Lambert: Play That Funky Music – LOVED IT!!! Adam is officially this year's diva! Seriously, he can do no wrong and I love how he's always keeping me guessing. Like I said last week, I know exactly what all the other contestants will do week after week but he's always changing it up and keeping the show fun to watch. If I was going to see any of the contestants live once the show ends, he's the only one I'd actually see. He's entertaining and unique, whereas the other contestants are the same old, same old. Why see Danny, Matt or Lil when I can see any of the already established artists who have the same sound but a million times better? Adam puts on a show and I love it and I love him!! But I'm sure you all knew that already!

Kris Allen: Ain’t No Sunshine – I haaaaaaaaaaate this song, but he sounded pretty damn good! He's definitely my second favorite of the season. I always thought he was cute when they flashed glimpses of him during the audition rounds, but didn't think he'd make it far at all since he got no screen time. I'm definitely pleasantly surprised! He could have the Kelly Clarkson effect... she was no where in sight during the auditions while they pimped Tamyra to the brim, but then she got better and better as the weeks went by and eventually emerged as an incredible talent. Kris will go far, and may even go farther than a lot of us think

I agree with some others that there just wasn't much to get excited about last night.

Anoop -- eh. The song wasn't familiar. I don't know what it is with this guy. He has a good voice. And he does have some stage presence. But something about him just doesn't click with me.

Megan -- so awful there are hardly the words. I hope Simon realizes what a HUGE mistake he and the rest of the judges made by pushing this chick on us. She was a wild card right?? Her voice is so awful. Someone said it was monotone and they were right. She looked ridiculous. She sounded worse. PLEASE let Dialidol be right tonight and she's gone.

Danny -- I hated the song. The beginning was ok but the end sounded like every other song he has done so far. I was just waiting for it to end. Like usual.

Alison - I agree she slipped a bit. I thought she'd sound better than Gwen (which wouldn't be hard to do!) and do the song justice, but it was not great. If Dialidol is correct, she is in trouble. She was no where bad enough to be near the bottom. She clearly doesn't have a strong fan base.

Scott -- I really liked this. His voice is thinner than my other two favorites but I still like the guy. His weeks are numbered though.

Lil -- Hated the hair. She looked like Gail King! That song should be right up her alley but I thought she sounded awful and her HUGE mouth was distracting. The judges ripped into her -- as they should have. But they can never just say 'you suck' they have to qualify it by saying she is still fabulous and has a great voice blah blah blah. They don't do that to anyone else. And this time they trot out her KIDS too. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine on the show. Hated when Gracin had his kids on and Fantasia and now Lil. We KNOW she has kids. Interviewing them and then having one hug 'Uncle Randy' was such an obvious ploy for sympathy. I am done with this chick. Dialidol has her up pretty high. WHO is voting for her????

Matt -- I really liked this. I love The Fray and I thought he did well with it. I would much rather have listened to that than anything else I had heard up until that point. Yet they ripped him to shreds. Poor guy doesn't WANT to be pigeonholed into one genre. I agree Coldplay was a mistake. But I don't think this was at all.

Adam - sigh. I don't GET this guy and never will. His performance was chringe-worthy. The twirl? The hip movements (that were mostly just out of camera range). The screeching was back. It sounded like the band drowned him out more often than not. (I guess I should be grateful )Who said he had Eddie Muster hair? PERFECT description. I like that his hair is out of his face but it is too POOFY on top. And the amount of gunk to hold it is place just makes me I keep thinking of the oil slick he'd leave on a pillow or seat back somewhere. Yuk.


Kris -- just perfect. Great song. Great voice. And he is adorable. LOVE the stubble (such that it is!) If not for that pesky wife of his, I would have developed a crush by now. But she kind of ruins it for me.


I cannot WAIT for DC tonight!!! The kids have an open house at school and I have to make sure I am back in time. I hope HE is there though and not just the video clip they mentioned. Didn't someone post that he canceled some tour dates for some family reasons?

Last night did present my favorite ALL TIME judge's comment, however. I do appreciate that it can't be easy for them to continuously come up with new ways to present criticism week after week, year after year (and often they don't say anything new). But Randy came up with a DOOZIE last night that had me chuckling for a good 15 minutes. Megan had stated that she loved the song she'd be singing. After her performance, Randy's comment was, "there are a lot of songs that I like, but you don't catch me singing them." Good one!!
