I have a question on the families, are the staying out there the whole time with the contestants?

I know that Ayla's mom just got back. She is a Boston TV reporter and it said she stayed thru last week's kick-off and had to come back with or without Ayla. I haven't heard whether she will go back to LA, but I would imagine if Ayla continued towrd the finals she would. I guess Ayla's aunt is with her now.

BTW, Ayla's dad got passed over for the lieutenant governor's race in MA. He was one of the final picks for the republican running mate but didn't get chosen. Don't know if that's an omen for Ayla!!!!!!!!

Is there a rule that you can't enter AI again if you've been in the finals? Would love to see Will try again in about four years. Every now and then, more so in auditions, he hits a note that makes you say "WOW". He can't figure out the song choice thing, and the judges aren't helping. (too young, too old, too young) But I think that the boy can SANG.

I'm aiming for Kevin and Will to go home this week, along with Kinnik and one other. With those three gone, we'll end up with a better Top 12 than ever before IMHO.

Wow. More proof that if you're going to go on TV, even at 17, you'd better be really secure in who you are. Ayla is an athlete, a really good one. She's an Amazon, but a woman for sure.

Just my quick thoughts on last night's performances...

Gedeon - I really don't see where the "problem" with his personality comes from. Is it still from the "I'm not in the Bottom Three" comment from last week? I mean, don't get me wrong, he is a little obnoxious (that constant smile needs to go), but I do think he's one of the better male singers in the competition (but that doesn't mean he'll be safe tonight).

Chris - Thought he was great last week and just okay this week. He's still one of the best in this competition, but like someone else said, I just don't see how he'll be able to "fit" into certain theme weeks.

Kevin - Hate the song and can't stand the kid (sorry!). I don't think he has a good voice and if comparing him to Jim Neighbors is the best comparison that can be made, then there's something wrong there.

Will - I think Will is really underrated. Granted, he's not the best in the competition (and he shouldn't win), but I agree with Paula (Aaah!!!) that he has a good tone and control over his voice. I actually liked his "How Sweet It Is" last night. I agree with whoever said that it's a shame he's on this competition now because in a few years he might've been a great performer. Still, I hope he'll still be here after tonight.

Taylor - Fortunately he stopped "Whoo!"-ing last night. Still, he's my favorite guy in the competition. While I agree that some may think he won't be able to sing other types of music, I don't really care. I think he's THRILLED to be here and would produce a great cd along the lines of Michael McDonald. If he won this thing, though, I'm not sure if the Idol Producers would know what to do with him.

Bucky - Sorry for this, but I thought (and have thought every week so far) that Bucky is atrocious. I like country music, too, but I can't stand Bucky. I don't think he can sing and (this is awful, I know) I can't stand looking at him. Honestly, he kinda scares me...and then you put two Buckys up there and I'm running for the hills.

Elliot - Didn't like him last night (I agree with Simon that the song didn't have enough "soul"), but last week's performance blew me away. I think he's one of the best.

Ace - Liked his "Father Figure" performance enough (wasn't blown away), but these past two weeks have been awful. Can't stand the falsetto and I just think he was off-key (maybe it's just 'cause I can't stand the falsetto). I mean, I understand why all the gals are voting for him, but as a singer, I can't stand him.'

My Top Six from last night (in order of best to worst) - Taylor, Gedeon, Will, Chris, Elliot, and no one else.

Who'll Be Going Home:
- Kinnik - She should be happy she made it this far
- Lisa - Song choice, song choice, song choice
- Will - Unless those 11-year olds vote en masse
- Gedeon - I don't think he's got a fanbase yet

Who I wish was going home:
- Kinnik - Bye-Bye
- Kellie - Not a great singer and annoying as heck
- Bucky - Makes me run out of the room
- Kevin - Jim Neighbors for American Idol...I don't think so.

Thanks for the link. I have been listening to Ace over and over and even though I hate falsetto, I am loving his performance. I'm not really an Ace fan but I think he did fantastic. Everyone should try to listen to it without having to watch him - it's even better.

Chris has a lot more depth that we've seen these past two weeks; that was clearly evident during Hollywood Week. I think Chris will end up following in Bo's footprints all the way to the final four.

Note that the DialIdol site says not to trust its numbers for the guys this week, due to a problem with the system.

Does Kevin have a lisp? I never noticed it when watching AI on TV but I just listened to it on-line and it sounded really bad.

Thanks damo for the link. I watched Taylor & Ace again. Both great, IMO. I can't help but LOVE Taylor and I enjoyed Ace's performance. He definitely showed range, IMO, and he is a pretty polished performer. I know alot of people hated the falsetto but at least he was memorable! I can't for the life of me remember Will or Gideon's songs...I like them but I don't think they're ready for the big leagues.
After tonight, do the guys & girls compete against each other finally? I can't remember.

I think Bicker mentioned that Taylor had a lack of depth and some have started referring to him as a one trick pony. As far as the lack of depth is concerned, his depth outreaches Chris's (and don't get me wrong, I am totally a Chris fan). And as far as a one trick pony, well, outside of Kelly Clarkson from AI1, not many of the top people seem to have much variety or versitility. I don't see that as a bad thing. Heck, many of my favorite singers are my favorite because I like what they do. I like Aerosmith - do I want to see Steven Tyler break out in a rendition of Vincent? Umm.. NO. The trick to the one trick pony is if their "one trick" appeals to enough people to get them through.

Okay, Matt, I've always LIKED you but now I LOVE YOU!!! Truer words were NEVER SPOKEN!!!!

So where is Reuben now? And season 1..that was Kelly Clarkson...didn't she just win a few grammys? And I do agree with season 3...there was no one that should have won that show. If they were in last year or this year they all would have been voted off before the top 12.

Unless you listen to Urban Gospel you will not hear Ruben, just as I don't hear Clay, Carrie, or Bo because it's what we mostly listen to. (you'd have to be DEAD not to hear Kelly Clarkson because she is EVERYWHERE)

I loved his single "I Need An Angel", it was a big change from the singles he put out immediately after AI. He, just like most of the idols, narrowed his audience and marketed himself at that demographic.

Exactly, and that is why I don't understand what the deal with Chris is. They say he needs variety and diversify, but then compliment him for knowing who he is, and sticking with what he can sing best.
If I can recall, Constantine tried to diversify, and when he went back to what he did best (more rock), he got booted off. I say it is too risky for him to diversify. If the other "Idols" can stick to their demographics, then I think he should be able to.

I hope he goes all the way.

I was predicting Kinnik and Melissa and Kevin and Will but none of those are surprising. Maybe Lisa and Elliot?

RyMickey, I think you nailed the 4 boots. I may switch Gedeon and Bucky, but I agree with you. I also agree with you that Will is very underrated.

Damo, Ever since I heard Nigel's comments about the girls, I'm feeling very secure Melissa is safe. If Melissa/Kinnik went home, well, thats predictable. And there is NO WAY Kinnik got more votes than Melissa (In fact I'm sure she got the lowest last night.)

First I heard Nigel's comments about the guys, but the only 4 I can see going home are Will, Bucky, Gedeon, and Kevin.

And people shouldn't take the DialIdol results seriously. Like I said, a VFTW'er stacked it by voting for Kevin many times. The totals from that system is such a low percentage of the real overall votes that it really doesn't tell us too much.
