American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread**

Does Kevin have a lisp? I never noticed it when watching AI on TV but I just listened to it on-line and it sounded really bad.
A really bad one and his tics (blinking and facial twitches) make me nuts. He can't sing and should be gone.

I'm afraid that the "out of the blue" on the men's side might be Elliot, and I really like him. The reason I'm afraid for him is that in previous weeks, whenever I tried to vote for someone, I guess I made the "popular" choice, because all I got was a busy signal. Last night, for the first time, I got right thru voting for Elliot. So just for the heck of it, I kept hitting "redial" and more often than not, I could get right through to vote for him again. The fact that the phone lines were rarely busy makes me think he wasn't getting too many votes, at least not as many as some contestants. As far as Kevin is concerned, I'm shocked that he's so high up in the standings I saw. Do you think he's got some family members just voting like crazy. I gotta admit I was really surprised that you could just hit redial and vote again all evening.

Anyway, last night it finally hit me. Not only is there a physical resemblance but he SOUNDS like him when he talks: Rudy Giuliani! I'm not kidding! Look:

Go ahead, call me crazy  but listen to Kevin when he speaks tonight. And, it's not just because they both have a lisp.

That is too funny you are SOOOO RIGHT!!!!! It's kinda weird actually.

Has anyone seen this:

Fuel reportedly offers Idol's Chris Daughtry a job as its lead singer

American Idol 5 frontrunner Chris Daughtry impressed the judges and the public with his rendition of “Hemorrhage” by Fuel last week. And he also impressed Fuel, so much so that they’ve reportedly offered him a job as their lead singer.

Jeff Abercrombie, the group’s bass player, told Extra that Chris did “a great job. This guy delivered. And he delivered like he’d written the song himself.” The band’s lead singer, Brett Scallions, left the group early in February. And following Chris’ performance, Randy Jackson told Access Hollywood that “Chris just got offered to be in the band Fuel, the lead singer is gone so they are trying to get it together.”

I didn't even know Fuel' lead singer left the band - I read he left in early February.

Interesting!!! Could this be the OUT OF THE BLUE moment tonight???

About Kevin's blinking, I rewatched the show and counted how many times he blinked (?) during his performance. Now, keep in mind that often the camera was far away from him so I couldn't see all the blinks, but I counted 88.

Didn't Paula make some comment to Chris about "no matter what you do in/with? this competition, you're gonna sing to sold out stadiums?"

Hmmmmmmmmm

If it's true, Good for him, bad for us as I was hoping he'd end up in the final 2.

Chris is under contract, I don't think he can just up and leave.

Yup, she sure did now that you mention it.

Are they all already under contract??? For some reason I thought it was the final 12 who were under contract since those are the ones that will be on the AI summer tour.

I believe the top 24 is under some sort of contract. Its not as tight as the one the top 12 signs, but I beleive there is one. I also think that getting out of it is a little harder now after incident with Mario (remember him?) last year.

That's why I thought only the top 12 were under contract - I remember Mario just up and left the competition.

Oh well, I hope Chris does not leave but if he does, I don't blame him one bit.

I copied this from the link above to the site.

Their web site’s announcement for this search mentions Chris’ performance, but also asks others to send in performances for consideration. Of course, Chris is currently handcuffed to Idol by its contract, so by the time he can sing for Fuel, its original members will be long gone.

How long is Chris handcuffed? (BTW I could be handcuffed, he's like a lil Vin Diesel )

With what Paula said about sold out stadiums. I figured he would have a spotlight anyway he eneded...

How exciting for Chris whatever happens! Maybe he is the "out of the blue" guy. If not, I doubt that it's Bucky. Bucky seems to run hot or cold, you either like him or you can't stand him. Personally, I really like Bucky and I hope that he stays around for a while. I would think that someone who seems more popular and more of a sure bet would be the "out of the blue" choice though.

Right now, I'm too high on Bo being there tonight to worry about it too much. He's the only guy I can think of who can outsing everyone on that stage tonight IMO plus he's even better looking than Ace! :)

Constantine finally got booted because he was just creepy. Those stares and the pseudo snarl were just plain creepy.

Wow. More proof that if you're going to go on TV, even at 17, you'd better be really secure in who you are. Ayla is an athlete, a really good one. She's an Amazon, but a woman for sure.

She's just really tall, you know, like a supermodel,
put some makeup on her and she could have a modeling contract!

Do you think Cindy Crawford and Tyra Banks also look like men???

Chris would be a shocker, not out of the blue. It's probably Ace.

I think it could be Ace as well. I'm thinking that Chris has taken over Ace's fan base. IMO, Ace's falsetto singing, his weird song choices and the playing for the other side rumors are alienating his fan base.

Umm...I was a huge Bo fan but that song left me underwhelmed. Where's the southern rock vibe? Where was his personality in that song? Just sounded like any old song on the radio - very generic. I hope his whole album isn't like that :(

OK, I really like Bo, but this performance is awful!!!!
I'm a big fan of his myself and I agree. But then I always disliked that song.

He sure looks good though. :goodvibes
