That 16 year old - Lisa Tucker -WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! What an amazing voice! If she does exactly what they tell her to do each week and shows versatility in her songs - she could go ALL THE WAY!

I tend to close my eyes when they sing cause I don't want to be influenced by looks...she was so amazing! IF she makes it through all the cuts and makes it to the finals I would vote for her.

Thanks-going to go check him out now.

(I had Grobin on the brain and I knew that wasn't right).

How sweet for the young man. I hope he can afford some lessons to just steer his voice correctly. But man--first time out in public singing and he makes it to Hollywood. :goodvibes

Okay the editing is now officially crappy.

They showed this girl tripping up the down escalator on yesterdays show with yellow paper in hand. (she sang Bjork today).

And yesterday was Chicago. Do they not have enough footage in each city that they have to mix the footage?

Get this - remember the real life BRATZ doll from yesterday?

The segment on our local news showed an upcoming segment - how she feels she was unfairly treated and not given a fair chance!!! :rotfl:

Good lord! :rotfl:

During the last segment the music Fox played in the the background was the theme music from the movie "The Crying Game". I thought this was absolutely hilarious. :rotfl2:

Here in Atlanta, the news is running previews for the first set of twins last night. (The ones in the white shirts and facial hair.) They are saying that they might not be in Hollywood becauses they have a criminal record. That is too bad if they have gone off and done something stupid and ruined this chance that they have been given.

I know! They keep showing that clip of her complaining about how unfairly she was treated. I think I will skip Fox news tonight and watch something else. :crazy2:

:rotfl2: I was howling with laughter at that whole piece!

I found my possible favorite tonight......... April Walsh!

Not only is she really quirky and made me laugh during her audition, but her voice isn't bad and................. she is the girl shown last night that tried to go up the down escalator!!!!

Go April!

Lisa loves Pooh...... that escalator footage from last nights show was at the beginning of the show before they started the Chicago auditions. It was while Seacrest was doing his whole "this show is so great and here I am to hype up the beginning opf the season" speech. During that segment they even showed Ace's audition (from tonight's show) and the audition for pink shirt/blonde hair girl who we will see next week. In no way was that escalator footage edited in to mkae it look like it was in Chicago.

What I didn't like though was that they didn't even show that footage after the girl (April Walsh) made it.

Worst of the night: Too many to mention.

Funniest: Are you a boy or are you a girl. That was sad and funny at the same time.

Weirdest Moments: The cowboy kid who had never been off the farm and is now going to Hollywood.

Best of Show:
The 16 year old, Lisa. She may be our next American Idol!
The guy who's wife was all teary about this being his dream.

Simonisms of the night:
You're apauling.
I'm bored.

I must clarify by saying that I don't watch Reality shows - or unreality shows, as I like to call them - of which I never considered AI. When it first started, it was a great talent competition. We got to learn a little bit about the performers, got to see Seacrest talk to them on the couch and get a glimpse into how much they wanted to be there.

Over the years though, it has gotten so insulting and degrading at times (last night's gender confused child proved it), that I pretty much stopped watching it last year. This year so far, it is just as bad! Over the years they have exploited so many of the people who you can tell are mentally or learning challenged (I am a special education specialist and see so many of my kids in these contestants - exploitation & insults are the last thing they need since they really are out of touch with reality, through no fault of their own in many cases) and it really bothers me. Most of these people have been given false hope by parents or themselves and I so I know that the judges are trying to make them realize that they aren't good singers, performers, etc., but they are doing it in a way of which it is evident that they don't care about these people (Paula does sometimes ), and that is plainly evident.

I've been telling my hubby this for the past 2 years, that I seriously believe someone is either going to: 1) Run outside in front of a bus, or other form of suicide or, 2) Become physically violent with one of the judges (more than likely Simon). Some of these people seem that fragile to me, yet the show just exploits them to the hilt! Just like with Jenny Jones' talk show murder - I'm sure the show will defend itself beautifully when this does happen, and I really and truly believe that we are going to see the day when someone in the audition room snaps (more than they already have!) in such a way that the big, beegy bodyguards that Simon and Seacrest have are not going to be able to anticipate nor control.

As per usual, American TV seems to offer so much of this kind of crappy stuff - if someone from another country turned on U.S. television, they would sure get a quick education on what a sad state your society is in - what a social commentary U.S. TV has become! It seems that most people like Simon, but that guy seriously is not all there - he is the most narcisstic, arrogant & ignorant person I've pretty much ever encountered, and the American public has made him a star for that. I'm not sure what this says about your society in general.

I am off my soapbox. Sorry for offending anyone, which I know my response is going to do, but this show has turned into the same Unreality show crap that most of U.S. TV has become and it's pretty sad that it's doing so at the expense of some pretty fragile people.

You haven't offended me - I agree with you. It's too bad the show doesn't just showcase the people who made it and perform each week. I love to see good talent. Not that change can't occur, but we both know that this sort of drama is what sells and American society is all about the money. Wouldn't it be an eye opener to America if they only showed the 12 finalists and their final auditions. Viewership would decline greatly.

I'm not discounting that Simon is rude, he is. He can be pretty darn mean and callous at times. But we (Americans) didn't make Simon a star. He was a star in his own right with Pop Idol, a British talent search show, before American Idol even started. This has nothing to do with "our" society. :confused3

And I'm far from an expert on the situation because I'm not talented in these fields, but from what I have heard from those people that do attend auditions for things like singing jobs and acting jobs, Broadway, etc. this is the norm. The judges are harsh and you have to have pretty darn thick skin to survive.

Granted Simon was a star in Britain, but he didn't reach the level of 'superstar' status that he now has until he arrived in U.S. Have heard him, Seacrest, the judges and other media people report that his popularity soared once he went on American TV - I would even go so far as to say he knew this is exactly what was going to happen, and that is why he created the show in the first place!

I really enjoy watching Idol, however, I feel that some of these geek, dork, dweebs, whatever, are staged. For instance, last night with the two guys towards the end, the one in the yellow and black outfit and the inventor, i watch Paula, she is usually nice and doesn't want to offend anyone. But with these (what I called staged performers) she is so outspoken and rude.
Just my observation. I will still keep watching, because I am amazed how many talented young people are out there!
