Ok, you want a recap? Lets give the memory a real workout...
They started off the show with revisiting the season of idol thru the idea of an 'awards' show, with awards for the worst acts, among them the hyper guy who almost scared Paula off the stage, and that one black chick, who did nothing but cuss at the camera. They also had a guy who outright venerated Clay. The guy comes up onstage and they have him start singing, and, of course Clay comes onstage behind him, and finished the song with the guy, it was, in a way, a nice moment to see the fan get what must have been his ultimate wish.
Among the Guests:
Toni Braxton, who was downright horrible, with Taylor.
Meatloaf, who was ok, with Kat.
The segments with Wolfgang Puck and..(forgot her name - blond southern girl) were a riot!
They also did group numbers working up thru the 12 finalists, first by male and female, then everybody with Burt Bacarach and Dionne Warwick which was a really good overall number, good to see those two still have it.

yes, I did.
Chris was with a band called Live, and it was a good one.
Elliot did a number with Mary j. Blige that I just didn't get.
Prince also came out and did two abbreviated numbers all by himself. Don't quite get why he was there.
Then they announced Taylor and he sang 'his' song into the credits. I wish they would do that part just a LITTLE bit sooner and let the winner do a full on number to close the season.
