American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread** Part 2

This is why everyone has an opinion just like they all have ... well you know what I mean.

I love Taylor, I look forward to every week with him. On the other hand I can't get into Chris at all. I guess that's what makes the world go round, huh?

I'm just (half) teasing about Taylor. I don't like his dancing and I don't like Bucky's singing, but I'm as pleased as punch since Kevin got voted off so I really won't seriously complain! :teeth:

And yes, Steph, I thought we were on the same page. What happened? I do hope that Chris wins, at least as far as the guys are concerned.

And it is true that Taylor is not afraid to be himself. I will totally give him that. My 6yo has been walking around the house "playing" (and I do use the word loosly) the harmonica. Oh, my. :rotfl2: My 15yo reminds me a bit of Taylor--the "marches to the beat of his own drummer" kind of person, so I should be used to the MO. LOL

Well, I thought I'd chime in with my opinion of Kellie. To me, American Idol is a chance to choose a great new singer. However, the name of the show can make it mean different things to different people. If we take the name literally, then we are looking for a person that Americans can idolize. Personally, I won't lose sleep if Kellie wins (although I REALLY hope she doesn't), but she would never stand up as Idol material in my book. Be it an act or not, I don't idolize ignorance and she seems content to have the world believe she is an idiot. I have never understood girls who act dumb (and maybe it's not an act). My goal in life is to always try to educate myself or at least keep my mouth shut when I am ingnorant about a certain topic.

Taylor has really toned down his act, so I guess he is somewhat afraid to be himself - unless that never really was him. The jerky movements have pretty much disappeared.

Thanks - you always come through with the spoilers.

Everyone enjoy the show tonight!!

HAPPY VOTING!!!

Isn't it 8 yet? Or should I say 7. Yes, I watch the pre-show too!

I'm expecting a lot from Bucky tonight. I sure hope he delivers.

I don't get it. :confused3

Edited: Oh, now I see. I heard that something you have listed for Elliot is what Taylor is singing. And I heard something else about Chris.

Me too!!!

If Ace sings the rumoured song, I think he will crash and burn. That song was so overplayed that everyone is sick, sick, sick of it.

Added spoiler for Kellie - again, highlight to view
Kellie Pickler will be singing Kerosene

Ace, Ace, Ace - what a dissapointment he has been - I had such high hopes for him - I agree that song was way overplayed.

He just is very bad when it comes to song choices. I think he can sing but he has no clue what to sing that suits his voice.

Did you know his real name is Brett? I never knew that until today.

ITA. Out of all the songs out there....that one? why?

He's fun to look at but like I said before--he hasn't came close to another "father figure" performance imo.

Sounds like Ace's song choice has been confirmed by Ken Warwick on Entertainment Tonight.

Sorry for the late response to the Kellie Pickler dumb act, but I am just getting caught up on this thread.

I, for one, have a very hard time discerning whether she is truly as naive as she makes out or a brilliant actress, able to stay in character all the time.

One thing is for sure, it can't be blamed entirely on her hometown. Some people are just clueless no matter where and how they grow up.

I know many people who grew up in the thick of culture, money and sophitication that are as clueless as Kellie. They would easily say what'sa ballsie?.

Heck, I have dined in major metropolitan cities numerous times, attended supposedly sophisticated parties and spent most of my childhood summers in Nice, Paris and Monte Carlo, and I never tried calamarie until well into my 40's. As a teen - I liked McDonalds, not squid :goodvibes

Is she for real? Maybe, maybe not. In any case, it is amusing to contemplate what is going to come out of her mouth next. Remember - this show is purely entertainment, nothing else.

This is going to be a tough night for the over 50 crowd. I feel that I won't know one song that any of them sing. Makes it hard to figure out how well they did if you don't know how it's suppose to sound in the first place. :confused3

Conceptually, nothing is supposed to sound any specific way.
