Report: 'American Idol' producers considered firing judge Paula Abdul

What's an American Idol season without a report that Paula Abdul's job might be in jeopardy?

Although Fox declined to comment on the report, American Idol producers, frustrated by her ongoing erratic behavior, reportedly considered firing the Idol judge earlier this month.

According to a story in Us Weekly's April 3 issue, in addition to her bizarre on-camera behavior that Idol viewers have seen this season, Paula has been "very difficult" behind the scenes of Idol's latest edition, with a source telling the magazine that she has been "crying all the time and arriving late for meetings."


The producers' frustration reportedly came to a head on March 3, when Paula visited a doctor for "dehydration and exhaustion" and the producers began considering approaching two other former reality TV stars to take her place: Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears. "[The] producers liked Jessica a lot," the source told Us, "and some were pushing for Britney."

Although Fox declined to comment on the report, Paula's representative denied all the allegations about Paula's behavior. "Paula is always a joy on the set and everyone loves her. If they were looking at Britney or Jessica, that's news to me."

Kellie did pick the wrong song for her. It's a great song by Sara Evans. I think Sara has a lower tone than her in the first place. The other 2 thus far have been nothing to write home about either.

Anyone know who they kept flashing too in the audience when Kellie was up? Not her grandpa, but 2 women?

Well, Taylor did pretty well, but not GREAT (as much as I love him.) Everyone has been SO BAD and Randy is right, they should be good at the songs they will eventually be making- OY!!

Kellie was okay. I think she'll be okay this week, if perhaps just barely.

I am so not into Mandisa's song I thought Taylor did pretty good, and I didn't agree with Simon that Taylor's styling was very Clay like LOL...

Ace was also just barely okay. I love the song, and he didn't totally butcher it. That's pretty-much the best I can say tonight, so far.

Paula is a little bizarre lately...what is up with the scar comment? Especially after last seasons affair fiasco. I wouldn't think she would want to even seem to be that personal with one of the males.

Wow, I thought Taylor looked good. He finally looked his age instead of 40 yrs old.

Not his best night but he's still my favorite

Ok..I thought tonight was going to be great, but so far...not a good night.

What are they thinking with their song choices.

Lisa...not good, but it was the best she has done since the auditions...she actually got into it.

Kellie...not good at all.

Ace...nice to look at...not too bad to listen to, better than the falsettos...but another bad song choice.

Taylor...never heard the song before, but liked it. For the first time DD 16 liked Taylor.

Mandisa....screechy and screaming...not her night tonight.

Probably the worst outfit I've seen on Taylor. Made him look like an overstuffed sausage. The singing was a little better than okay, better than the rest tonight so far, but that's not saying very much at all.

Good idea to pick a song he didn't have to dance to.
