American Idol: Season 10 PART III

The real debate is which one of the 4 is the "hack"?

There in lies the question........

I am not a fan of country music so I wouldn't be sad to see Lauren or Scotty go....although, I do think Scotty will have a good career either way and much like Daughtry won't need Idol to be a success.

I much perfer James and Haley and hope they are in the final 2, but I would guess it will be Scotty and James.

I couldnt stand Jacob at ALL....IMO, there was nothing at all to like about his performances and was very glad to see him FINALLY leave. If he were still around, he would have gotten my vote for the "hack".

I'm sorry, I think you misunderstood me. I didn't make what I was saying clear enough.

It's not that she's getting sympathy votes and she's not good. It's that a good majority of Idol viewers were turned off by last year, and the judge changes this year and just didn't care enough to vote all year. EVEN if they liked what a contestant has done. I read it over and over this season on the entertainment sites I go to that cover the show: "Oh I really liked Paul(or Stefano, or Casey, or Naima) but I just didn't vote.".

Now a good majority of them who have been liking Haley but could just care less about the voting process took to their phones/texting last night because they realized that a really good singer was getting thrown under the bus, and no one else was being criticized for their (numerous) missteps. Frankly, the the silent viewing audience got slapped in the face last night and woke up, and decided to do something.

It's not that she has a bad voice. Listen to her iTunes songs, they're MUCH better. Oh and one girl I read on twitter was there last night, she said it was INSANE in the audience after Randy railed against Haley. She left the stage crying, holding onto Lauren. And the audience was not happy with them for it.

Another bit: According to one reporter, Haley has sold more COMBINED iTunes songs then any other contestant this year.

She's gaining fans.

taste is in the ears of the beholder. I have heard her Itunes...not a fan. So the girl who smuggly trotted back to the couch each week that she was not in the bottom 3 needed to hold onto another contestant for support last night? True, voters have had to be *played* into voting..again, certainly not over her merits then, over the psycholgical being part of the show. If her voice is that amazing, poeple would be voting, so something about her is keeping them from dialing..her personality perhaps? With the likes of autotune counting as talent these days, anyone can sell stuff. Obviously , if Idol likes those numbers, they want that person to win, therefor they implemented the reverse psychology of getting sympathy for Haley. Bottom line, on the talent ladder, she is not exactly a slam dunk. I respect your admiration and support of her, but by your posts you are stating that she is becomming more popular due to the Judges comments about her so the audience is reacting to that, not really her level of talent that she has shown so far. As I understand it, you are saying she is all that, and it is the lazy audience to blame for her lack of stardom? What about the judges then?
I agree to disagree that she is as good as many say. To each his/her own. She will last about as long as Lee Dewyze and Talor Hicks and can't even remember then name of the guy who beat Adam Lambert...but then again, she has proven her forgetfullness in her voice, most are now talking about her attitude.

I love how some ya-hoo's on a MB (and I consider myself a ya-hoo, too, meaning I have no professional music opinion ;)) have declared Haley a horrible singer. I've read posts dissecting her vocal abilities (or lack of, as they say) in the manner of someone who actually knows music. On the other hand, you have the three judges, Jimmy Iovine, guest professionals, former Idol contestants, and other professional singers saying Haley has a beautiful voice, possibly the best of the 4 remaining contestants. Maybe she's not your style. But just because you don't like someone's style of singing doesn't mean they aren't good, or amazingly talented. I'm not crazy about Scotty's singing style. But I don't dare to think that I can call him talentless. And I certainly don't lower myself to ridicule him, or any of the others, for the way he dresses or acts. As someone (RyMickey, I believe) said, they are KIDS. I can't believe how so many people on here seem to delight in trashing Haley. It's like catty girls in high school. The word VENDETTA came to me earlier today. That kind of sums up the attitude I'm seeing on here. How ironic! From the same people who berate Haley for her attitude. :sad2: I think one of the people on here who used to be one of her harshest critics has eased up a little on the personal attacks. So I guess there's hope that some others can take the high road, too.

I wish Haley had shown her true emotions last night, which I believe were devastation, not arrogance. It seems she was too upset to do the backstage bit after her first song. (can anyone blame her?) I think America would have rallied behind her for the beating she took from J-Lo and Randy. Walking off the stage in tears holding onto Lauren sounds like a young girl who was crushed, with some understandable anger mixed in.

It may be interesting tonight, indeed. While some folks are upset that Haley "backtalked", it seems that many more commentators are disgusted with the blatant bias the judges are showing. And Nigel tweeting that people complaining about it are "morons" is not helpful either. It's pretty bad for the show's credibility, as well, when you have former contestants like Allison, David Cook and Adam Lambert complaining about the judges being unfair.

I feel like they've been pimping James with all the over the top performances.

Yup...that seems to be the feeling on twitter today as well as other blogs I have read.

Several former Idols voiced their displeasure on twitter last night that I saw.

Also for any Crystal fans, she'll be on the CMT benefit concert that's airing at 9/8c.

I think I must watch a different Idol than a lot of other people because week after week after week all I have heard is how great Haley is and how they love her from the judges. Last week and this week not so much. And I could swear I saw a backstage interview with Haley right after she sang..or maybe it was before she sang her second song :confused3 it's all such a blur.

It is no secret I do not like her voice at all. Never have, never will..just not my cup of tea. I've always thought the judges were crazy for liking her so much and other then BBBBBBB benny and jetsssssssssssssss and last night songs I don't remember a thing she sang. (and I don't remember them for good reasons either)

James, I actually voted for a few times this year, but I don't like the over the top bad performances and hate the screaming. I hated Adams too but at least he screamed in tune.

Scotty has been my favorite from his very first audition. Lauren I loved during her audition but I wish that spunky girl who had the moxey to sing Aerosmith and ask Steven Tyler to join in would come back. She just seems down and insecure now.

Oh snap.

We've been served! :woohoo:

I am just getting caught up on last night. I am not a country fan, but I can overlook that...

First Round:

1. Scotty
2. James
3. Lauren
4. Haley

Second Round:

1. Haley (I LOVE THIS SONG)
2. James
3. Lauren
4. Scotty

So...overall James is probably my #1 pick last night just for consistency and performance value. However I thought Haley was the best of the night. I had high hopes for Steven and J-LO, but they have really disappointed me. Steven just loves EVERYONE. I will give props where props are due (i.e. Haley) but I will also plug my nose when someone is stinking the place up.

But, that wouldn't produce, the desired effect.

I had high hopes, early in the season, but it's obvious, AI is on it's last leg. This year or next, will be it's last. imo

Oh snap.

We've been served! :woohoo:

What is that supposed to mean? Are you admitting to being one of the catty girls I mentioned? I can't explain it any other way except that some people were just born mean-spirited. It's truly pathetic. :sad2:

It would be so interesting to know who (how old) we all are on this MB. How ridiculous would I, as a 50+ year old mother of 2 (which is why the snarky comments bother me so much-I have kids the ages of the Idols) feel if I learned I was debating with a 14-year old kid? Which is exactly what I must be doing, based on comments like the one above. Grow up. :sad2:

I am 48 and mother of 2 ages 20 and 16. If Idol wants the world to believe Haley is the only contestant to ever hear negative comments from a judge perhaps they need to revise their editing of the show. Smoke and mirrors...the judges give their comments, that's how it is. I can't recall a season where there wasn't an issue with someone whether it be their voice or attitude. ALL of the current contestants said they have been watching Idol since they were little...hello...they know it can be brutal. I stand by my perception of Haleys reaction as one of attitude over devastation. One can handle anything with grace and professionalism. The future American Idol is pretty much expected to have those qualities. Geez, JLo has been saying to *act* the whole season. Take a step back from the thread if it is so bothersom...no one is attacking YOU they are sharing their opinions of a tv contestant, but now you are posting about those of us on the thread and that is off topic, for sure.

The Idol threads have always been like that. It is generally agreed that as long as no one bashes each other on here, it is all good. You are free to bash contestants as long as you like. You really can't take it personally.

The only moron(s) is/are those who single out one contestant for harsh criticism and then wince when the voting public gets pissed off at them.

I'm watching the same Idol as you

It's A WHOLE LOT different when that harsh brutality is aimed AT SOMEONE ELSE. It's worse when you're that person getting it.

I'm 40. No kids but have a niece and nephew in that same age range (19 and 21).

This is my first season to follow AI on the Disboards. (probably a mistake) I guess I am just oversensitive to kid-bashing - can't understand it, can't stand it. How can we expect kids to stop bullying if we adults are guilty of the same thing? The only difference is the person being bullied doesn't know about it. But I still find it offensive.

If Haley goes tonight (and I think there is a good chance), I will not be logging on to see the victory party. My blood pressure is still in the good range, and I'd like to keep it that way. ;)

remember when Sanjay was flippant back to simon?

it really didn't get him very far.....

the audience ate it up when Sanjay talked back.
but, it didn't last.
