I agree that James has enough *confidence* for all of them, but as the judges have said, he has been consistent week after week. Haley was not the onlyone criticized..Stefano, Jacob, Casey off the top of my head have had negative responses but they handled the crits with more maturiity and grace than Haley. The judges gave her honest feedback, like you asked for, and she was ticked off. I think Haley is consistenly questionable, and consistently typical. If she wants to have a chance to win, she better act her age , which is 21 and not give attitude when she doesn't get the praise her ego is looking for.

i don't think James is consistent. i thought he was terrible last week. i didn't think his first some last night was great. and he has had other bad weeks as well. the only thing consistent about him is that the judges praise him no matter what he does.

now. of those left, he is the best at performing. that much, i will give him. but he is not an amazing vocalist. of course, there are a lot of major pop stars who are not amazing vocalists and still sell millions of auto-tuned albums because they can perform well.

if Lauren had confidence and stage presence, she could win it all. but she just doesn't have it. Scotty can perform well, but some of his mannerisms when he sings just drive me insane. Haley has a great voice, but something about her just doesn't draw me in. i do think she's gotten the worst treatment from the judges though. i think they should be hard on all of them.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what Haley is all bent about. Has she never watched this show? She should try singing in front of Simon. She should be on her knees thanking God that she doesn't have to and then proceed to shut her trap.

This is exactly how I feel. And I'm guessing this is why so many are on the James train and I just don't get it. He is a very good performer and knows how to work the stage. But out of the 4 left, he has the weakest vocals without a doubt. And it's not enough for me to like someone just because they know how to move on stage.

I also wanted to add that I didn't see a reason for them to put James first and last. If that wasn't a way to push that they want James to win, than I don't know what is. I really hope this year is just like all the other years...where the judges favorite doesn't win!

I also thought Lady Gaga was way over the top with the contestants. Especially that "shove your tongue down your girlfriend's throat" comment to Scotty. That was totally inappropriate.

I think if they would actually criticize everyone like they should, it wouldn't bother her. The fact that everyone else gets a free pass but she is the only one that is called out, it really confusing and annoying.

Lots of past performers have spoken out. I remember David Cook having his little episode of talking back to Simon and he's got to be one of the most humble performers ever.

Actually I do think James has been consistent...consistently meh. I think James has had maybe one good week, where I actually liked his performance. But most of the time, he's weak...and consistently so.

I think Haley has probably been the most inconsistent of the bunch. But she has also grown the most. I couldn't stand her in the beginning and thought every performance was terrible. She has definitely gotten better. And some of her performances I do enjoy. But she does still have some terrible performances in there.

See for me, it's the other way around. I'm not big on concerts. I'm more likely to buy a CD then go to a concert. So for me, the vocals are more important than how they perform on stage.

I think Steven Tyler is a horrible judge. I like him as a performer, but he adds nothing to the show as a judge. All he does is tell every girl how pretty they are, how their singing made him cry, etc., etc. Never any constructive criticism.

At least Jennifer tries to give a little help, but seems to see which way the wind is blowing with Randy and then just agrees with him.

So I have a question. Who decides what 'extras' the contestants get. Like James gets the burning pianos, the famous guitarist, etc. Do the producers decide that type of thing or do the contestants decide?
That's the thing that bugs me the most about James is all the performance stuff that's over the top compared to the others.

I think lots of people don't care for Haley. Everyone has that right.

Every year there is the LOVED one, the HATED one and the ones in the middle. It's an AI tradition.

I have differed MANY times with the majority, doesn't matter to me. Different strokes for different strokes. We all have our druthers and everyone has the right to vent them.

I had to leave the thread last year because of all the "Lee" adoration. I found him boring and his stage presence just horrid. Also because there was really NO ONE to adore in the bunch. It was the first year I did not watch the finale.

Unfortunately it looks like I'll be missing this one, too. I've loved my many years of being a AI fan but the past 2 years have really lost me. The judges are unimaginative and they're so OBVIOUSLY reading the producer notes it's embarrassing. The "talent" is middle of the road at VERY best. I'm either so-so or purely disgusted.

And the fact that it feels more like "Nashville Idol" ... come on, I feel like most of you would if the final four consisted of two Gospel singers.

I think everyone BUT me would've bailed by now, VOCALLY.

It's pitiful, really. I feel like JLo and Steve Tyler have sold out, they joined to promote themselves and their videos/books, and Randy... words escape me.

Simon, on the other hand, is somewhere rolling in his millions and cracking up!

I agree! I said the same thing last night. If Simon was there he would not hold back. Her attitude is horrible. She should have left weeks ago. Pia should have been in the finals. I like Lauren and James. I hope either one wins.

Haley: She is good at times, but others is ..no. Her attitude is what turns me off.
Scotty: I won't mind if he wins or loses. Either way he will be successful

Lauren: LOVE HER. I hope she truly wins.

James: Hmm..well, I am iffy about him. He is a great performer, yes, but sometimes doesn't have strong enough vocals. I really like him though.

I gave all my votes for Lauren. She really picked it up from last week.

As tiring as Haley's tude, or her growling lyrics...

As tiring as Scotty's country-fried singing, his creepy mugging or bizarre mic holding...

I can go on and on about each idol. They all have their "thing" and for some people it is endearing, while to others it is an annoyance.

as many of us have said in the past, different strokes...Haley was not treated like a golden child last night and it hit a nerve. She is a one trick pony ( actually all of them left are, but she is the least cooperative and least willing to adapt from what she shows on tv), actually I think Lauren has the best chance at multiple styles and being believable. Haley keeps choosing songs that she says are different yet she delivers them all the same with that goofy growl whether the songs style compliments that or not. James does the same, but he chooses most of his songs to gel with his love of the dramatics/screams etc. so he pulls it off better. NONE of them are superstar...Lauren has the America's Sweetheart image thing, that was focused on from the start, with the whole *feel the love* theme this year. Casey was my fave, but he went over the top with the creepy facial expressions and growl so he go the boot.( hear that Scotty? creepy facial expressions?) You'd think Haley would get a clue, and honestly, she obviously has been reading the reviews about her, so maybe try improving her attitude to a pleasant one if she is convninced that her voice isn't the issue. She said she gets the crits more than anyone, well duh.....maybe that's a sign? Especially on a season where they hardly crit at all . Scotty should have been on The Voice...can you imagine them turning around to see a 16 year old kid after hearing that voice?lol
