Amazing Race 11 - All Stars (begins 2/18/07)

I wonder why Eric and Danielle got taken off the plane. From what they show in the brief clip it didn't look like they were doing anything.
I'm doing a quick reply here, so someone may have already responded. I was talking to my BIL yesterday about flying and sometimes the airlines will remove the last person that got on the plane because of weight issues or distribution on the plane. They may not have done anything wrong, just that between the people and cargo already on board, the plane was already too heavy.

I was wondering if Oswald and Danny did something (hit a button maybe) that was causing their receiver to work differently. They didn't seem to be doing anything different than the rest and they were going in circles.
I think that for awhile their receiver was picking up two signals. They commented on that and couldn't seem to make up their mind which one to follow.

I'm glad that Charla and Mirna came in first. I'm ready for Eric and Danielle to leave now.

And what are "The Pants"?

ETA: My apologies to the men on this thread.

I was disappointed that Romber was eliminated last week, I loved them on survior (seperately and together) and on their first amazing race run, on their stupid poker show and on this race. I can't wait to see what they have up their sleeves next. I find them compelling to watch and I do not blame them one bit for riding this realty TV fame thing for as far as it will take them.

I can't wait for Uchenna and Joyce to be eliminated, and I hope it happens next week. What I don't like about them is that they made their winning the race last time out to be some kind of proof that they are morally superior to Rob and Amber. I also can't stand it when people who pretend god "wants" them to win a flippin' reality show. Puuuu-lllleeeeeaaassse.

I dislike Mirna and Charla because the constant sense of entitlement and the endless histronics and drama just grate on my last nerve.

At this point, I would love to see either the Blondes, the Chas or Teri and Ian win. I did not like Teri and Ian the first time around, but they seem to actually and genuinely learned something from racing last time. Last time they were always fighting and shrieking, but this time they are supportive, excited and just pleasant. I love that.

I could not care less about the frat boy and his girlfriend, whatever their names are. I also don't care for the Guidos...I can't put my finger on it, they just bug.

It just wasn't the same without Rob and Amber on.
I miss them.
:sad1:

There is nobody I really like left, but I think I will root for the beauty queens or Teri and Ian now.

I'm thinking people thought it would be much harder to find people willing to get their nails done by a street vendor. Turns out it looked pretty easy.

We were thinking haven't these people watched the TAR before? Aren't these All Stars? They never ask you to do the vendor thing unless it's something people will actually pay you for. I seem to remember those options always being faster.
The things is that your customers probably act differently because they see the cameras. Ian thought it'd be hopeless, because he said no one would get their nails done by a white guy. Even if that were true, a white guy followed by a cameraman and a soundman is a different story. I'd always do the street vendor task if one was offered.

That's two weeks in a row, BTW, where one of the tasks was a LOT easier than the other. Last week putting the Magellan stops on the pole was really hard, while finding the dive shop, or whatever it was, was really easy. The show is usually pretty good about making the choices equal; lately, not so much.

And I am convinced that Cha-Cha-Cha is the best team ever on the show, hands down. Was anybody else humming Benny Hill's music when they were chasing Phil? No? And their dry humor is great; I liked when Ozzie promised their rat a good home in a lab where he'd get to wear makeup. :rotfl2:

I've felt this way for a loing time so IMO this is nothing new. Usally when a challenge looks hard, others teams did really well and it was just the wrong choice for that team. That sign thing, for example, was really easy for other teams.

Because they are funny? I like them, but would not put them even in my top five. I even forgot who they were when I saw their name on the list for this season.

I missed what Charna and Myrna won????
It was a trip to Aruba, I believe.
Does anyone else have a crush on Phil?
No! I think he's kind of creepy actually.

I agree. I hated Teri and Ian last time, but this time they are great. The teams you listed are my 3 favorites. While I enjoy watching the drama that unfolds watching C/M, I do not want them to win. I do like U/J, but they've won already, so it won't make me sad to see them go.

Nobody had an easy time with that sign challenge. Uchenna and Joyce were the only team to get it right, and it took them a long time. Everybody else that chose that one (Romber, C&M, the BQs) eventually gave up. Meanwhile, the navigation choice was pretty uncomplicated. It seemed like a breeze, and not just in comparison to the signs.

Partially because they are funny. Partially because of the way they are funny. I admire drollness, compared to a team like the hippies that had rehearsed shtick that they did for the cameras.

But also... They never seem to get frantic like the rest of the teams. They were frustrated on the glacier, but it never got out of hand. They are able to convince people to help them because they are so smooth. People want to help them; people help Mirna because she's crazy and they're afraid of her, I think.

I can't believe you didn't remember them from season 2. The shopping trip they took in Hong Kong was the most memorable single thing in AR history IMHO.

If somebody got lost the navigation one would be tough, and it was for one team was it not? The sign thing did look easy of you were able to undestand what they were looking for and spell them right. LOL

They looked pretty bad on the glacier to me. Not as bad as other teams in the past, but certainly a meltdown IMO. But I do think something went wrong with their device.

After watching the glacier scenes I thought it would be a good idea to have an Amazing Race spin-off where people get around just by using GPSs. That would be sooooo cool--maybe :rotfl:

Ok, did I miss this week, or did the basketball preempt it?
Because of the basketball games, 60 Minutes and therefore TAR started about 50 minutes late this week.

I loved this weeks episode I was very surprised that Uchenna and Joyce came in last, I like them but I wouldn't mind seeing them go.

Still loving Oswald and Danny because they make me laugh, I also just enjoy watching them enjoy the race.

I didn't care for Terri and Ian the first time around but I like them this time.

Candice and Dustin have to stop making silly mistakes.

Charla and Mirna, please go away. Those bizarre fake accents were ridiculous and so annoying.

Guidos- I want the mean Guidos back, they're much more fun to watch.

Eric- what a moron.

I'll be happy if anyone but Charla and Mirna and Eric and Danielle win at this point. But my number one team is Danny & Oswald followed by Terri and Ian and the Beauty Queens.

I'm enjoying the diversity of personalities in the cast, it makes it more fun to watch.

What accents are Charla and Mirna suppose to have? If it is spanish (only language I've heard them attempt), it is terrible!! Speaking english w/that accent totally sucks. We mute the TV. It is THAT bad.

Amazed me how easy it was to do the nails.

The boyfriend/girlfriend team... man how mean and snarky can you be? I'd like to see both of those teams drop kicked.

Romber got the order right immediately--they just didn't think to check the spelling (it was on the map for them to match it to). U&J got the order backwards on their first try but then fixed it pretty quickly.

However, the navigation task really required that you be able to read a compass. Romber and the BQs changed tasks before the last plane arrived, yet, the Guidos had time to arrive, get the clue, and finish the task before Romber & the BQs figured it out.

Both tasks seemed pretty easy to me. The sign task required you to pay attention to detail and the navigation task required you to know how compasses work. But, picking the correct task for your team should have made for an easy detour.

(I do agree that the nail painting seemed easier even before I watched anyone try it. Btw, did anyone else find it odd that nobody seemed to understand the currency? I mean, you're racing, you know what country you are going to and you have 3 stop-overs in your flight. Why not go into a bookstore and read a guidebook? At the very least, ask someone on your last flight about basics like currency.)

So I'm assuming that it was a non elimination round?

Yes. U&J are marked for elimination in the next leg.

All of this discussion of CBS's programming schedule has me happy to be outside the US. It's frustrating not to be able to see the Elimination Station videos, however, I watch the CTV feed of the actual race and it doesn't get disrupted.
