Am I the Only One Who Likes the Epcot Wand?

Yikes! So apparently my opinion is wrong. To SOME people, I think it's about change. To others, apparently, it's more than that.

Either way, I'm not sure what that makes those of us who like it? :confused3

All I was trying to say is that, to many of us, we haven't known it any other way. That being the case, it isn't tacky or stupid and doesn't ruin anything for us. Which, to me, suggests that MAYBE had we seen it in the past, and now see it different, or "changed", we would feel more strongly about it.

But seriously....

It appears on page 1 that some people were well aware that people would get defensive about this subject. Maybe that should have been my clue to avoid the thread altogether. :scratchin

ETA: Thanks OP for posting... I read another thread mentioning the site you are likely referring to, and I find the discussion really interesting, in a calmer environment. I enjoyed reading other people's responses on this thread, too, as all of the OPINIONS on the matter had pretty sound reasoning, both for and against. For the most part. :goodvibes

Back to my regularly scheduled programming...

I also like the wand. Its adds some sparkle and pizazz to Spaceship Earth! :wizard: Looking at some older pictures of SE, it looks kind of plain without the wand.

DW and I love the wand as well.....it's very cool to look across Epcot from WS and see that huge wand sparkling at night. I think it adds alot to SE. :wave2:

I liked it. It would be too plain without it.

I like the wand-it reminds me of my first trip to WDW in 2000. I love the castle w/out any decoration. It's so beautiful in my opinion it doesn't need any additional ornamentation. I didn't see MGM w/out the hat, but the posts about it blocking the theatre makes me think they could have found a better place. It's interesting how we all love Disney but have such different opinions.

I can maybe understand why people don't like the Epcot wand, but I really don't think that the MGM hat detracts from the "purpose" of the park. The park is about movies, and the hat is from Fantasia. While I can see that some people saying it detracts from the "Old Hollywood" theming (and I totally get that), I think that it truly is more of a "landmark" and a better "weanie" (as poster orljustin calls it) than the Chinese Theater (and this is coming from a bonafide movie buff). Had the hat been there at the park's opening, I think that it would've been lauded. Granted, it kind of stinks that there is a pin store underneath of it, but I think the image of the hat fits in with theme of the park.
