I think your story is a great example of what happens when as parents, we back off a little bit & let our kids spread their wings.

Your son probably gained so much self-confidence doing this & I bet he feels so proud of himself!

You should be proud too! You have raised a smart & responsible kid!

Well, my parents added "getting the newspaper from across the street so we don't have to go out in the cold" to my basic chores when I was about 5. They figured I'd mastered the incredibly basic "Look Both Ways" by then, I mean, shoe tying was a bit harder. By 9 I was riding over a mile to the local convenience store on my bike.
